Sedona is a small town of @ 10 – 15,000 residents. I always do my best to shop locally and support the community. Although the Sedona ACE Hardware store is locally owned? they apparently have the nasty big city attitude toward their customers. Today, Jan 20, 2016 I went to my local ACE Hardware store in Sedona, AZ. I intended to return some electrical parts that I had purchased there a few months previously. I left them at the counter with the cashier(who was eating a sandwich and seemed upset that I had disturbed her!) who asked me if I was going to get other items today. I said yes and she said to leave everything there and get what I needed. I went to get some plumbing parts and was helped by a friendly clerk. When I returned to the checkout I was told that the manager would not authorize the returned items because it was past their 30 day return policy. I asked to see the manager. After waiting more than 5 min(because it was said? She was helping another customer? I doubt it!) she finally came to the counter and again refused to take back the plastic electrical parts, which were in original condition. I told her I was a regular customer for the past 10 years buying only a few hundred dollars a year and if she did not take back less than $ 10 of goods that she would lose a customer forever and I would do my best to tell everybody about what bad customer service this store gives. She repeated the policy and I left. Again, I do my best to support the local merchants and will do my best to let residents know when a bad one is among us. DONOTSUPPORTSEDONAACEHARDWARE

Worst customer service ever in town. This store needs to be taken over by someone who trains their employees to treat customers more professionally. I went in to buy a weed whacker but it did not work so I returned it in less than 10 hours with a receipt for an exchange or a return. Floor manager finds one little scratch at the bottom of the tool and tells me no exchange and no returns. Stickers and labels were all still in place. Not sure if the scratch was even already there when I bought it. I am writing this review to make sure you don’t get scammed either. Go buy all your equipment from Home Depot. They stand behind all their products and give exchanges and returns without the attitude and hassle of this shit store ran by ego driven employees.

Beware of buying horse products at ACE in SEDONA as long as Kim is the manager. I have been a loyal customer for 16 years. They know me & my husband by name. I have spent thousands of dollars. The past couple years they started carrying horse feed & hay. In Sept 2014 I purchased 6 bags of horse feed. Got home & there were thousands of bugs crawling all over the bags. I returned them & Kim the manager said: oh no problem I bomb every two weeks for bugs. I said, ok well I’m sorry I just can’t buy feed with thousands of bugs crawling all over. So he took them back… I had to wash out the bed of my truck when I got home because there were so many bugs. I ended up purchasing feed from another feed store that ‘never’ has bugs’.(Ace carries one brand & the other feed store carries another brand — so I had to switch brands) So it’s November & I went in to Ace to purchase other items, while I was there the one(very nice) employee mentioned to me that they recently got a new supply of horse feed in & that she knew of my recent problem with bugs. I said great, I purchased two new bags of feed. When the guy went to load the feed bags in my truck, I said ‘oh let me make sure there are no bugs’…when I checked there was a dead bug on the bag, so I said: gosh there is a bug, does that mean these bags have bugs? Well, Kim walks up carry the 2nd bag & hears me ask a innocent question & flips out on me… saying he won’t sell me anymore feed, to go elsewhere — that this feed is new & doesn’t have bugs. I said Kim, I saw a dead bug & if you say there are no bugs then I believe you & it’s ok. He rages saying: if there was a bug, it was dead & it came from the previous problem that I needed to go inside & get my refund & he will never sell me anything else … Talk about ‘passive/aggressive’, and treating a loyal customer with such disrespect. They are the ones who have the problem with bugs, Kim admitted having a problem with bugs, yet raged at a ‘long term, loyal customer’ kicking me out & refusing to sell anymore product to me…(Mind you, I had never complained or returned anything until September when I had the problem with bugs that they could clearly see thousands crawling all over the bags) God forbid you question a product that you are buying and spending $ 32 per bag… I was paying 100% for the product, yet Kim at Ace was not selling a 100% quality product, he knew it & admitted it. Be aware of their hay too, I spent good money in the spring on ‘supposedly’ Timothy Hay only to find out it was mixed with Alfalfa which I didn’t complain about, but now I will … This treatment is very upsetting since I live in Sedona & try to support my local stores.

My favorite hardware and home store ever! Mainly because of the friendly customer service. I stay away from those big stores where you need a megaphone just to find help. Sedona Ace is my place. SHOPLOCAL!

I can still find small town America at this place. It’s a traditional, old school type hardware store packed, literally to the ceiling with every imaginable item you could possibly need for your house or yard. I love the tight, narrow aisles and the wide variety of merchandise they offer. The folks that work here are always readily available to help. With their hi-tech wireless radio system, they are able to talk to each other in the various departments to check stock or assist customers in finding what they need. Some stores just have a great vibe and this is one of them. Over the years, I’ve probably been able to find about 90% of what I needed. Sure, the prices are more than Home Depot or Walmart but I’ll spend $ 8 in gas driving to Cottonwood to save a dollar. They also have a loyalty program which sends me $ 5 discount cards toward $ 25 future purchases which is pretty cool too.
