Meet the Business Owner
Peggy L.
Business Owner
Originally from Long Beach, Mississippi, Peggy Lanning began her long-standing career as a renowned art gallery owner by selling jewelry from the trunk of her car. In 1971 Lanning expanded her business into Turquoise Tortoise Gallery (Native American & Southwest art) moving from southern Arizona to Sedona 10 years later. In 1986, when the work of distinguished artist Alfred Rogoway came to her attention she felt determined to accommodate fine artists whose work did not fit her gallery. Within the year Lanning Gallery had opened; its reputation as the finest Classic & Contemporary gallery in Sedona is irrefutable.
In 2007, Lanning received the Visionary Award from the Nat’l. Assoc. of Women Business Owners’ (NAWBO-Sedona) 3rd Annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards. As a founding member of the Sedona Gallery Association & having sat on the board of Sedona’s Chamber of Commerce and Focus Future for Sedona, Lanning has helped determine the direction of this one-of-a-kind arts colony.
