The Movement Academy is intended to connect local practices to international lineages in Martial Movement, healing, and, practical skills of all types with an emphasis on survival and wilderness education. Themovement. academy website and local classes are based in Sebastopol, Sonoma County, California, although our families are far reaching. Soon we will have our full lines of studies on the site, with yearly travel programs hosted at White Horse Temple in Wudang, China for Traditional Chinese Martial Arts. A trip to Brasil for Capoeira and Jiu Jitsu is in the works, as well as a line of very special guest instructors monthly.
The Movement Academy is for people to work and train together to advance their shared political, social, or artistic ideas. It is a hub and a community for teachers and students of international arts. It is an effort to unify, empower, and connect with our current lineages, and those who have yet to join us. The skills explored amongst the community are universal, modern, and ancient; We believe in the potential of the Mind, Body, and Spirit of humanity, to become ever better, always striving towards perfection.
We currently offer weekly classes in Capoeira, Jiu Jitsu, Burmese Bando, Traditional Chinese Martial Arts, Gong Fu (Kung Fu), Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Traditional Weapons and Ba Gua. Specialized classes in Systema, Body Work, and more.

Meet the Manager
Luke H.
Manager
My name is Luke. I have been training Martial Arts since 2002. My focus is Brazilian Capoeira. In Capoeira I am known as Palhaço. I am Instructor level in ASCAB Capoeira under the guidance of Mestre Doutor. In addition to Capoeira I have pursued martial development through cross training in Daoist Chinese Martial Arts, Bando, Kali, Systema, and most recently Parkour training. Since 2007, I have also been training in Wilderness Survival Skills through Tom Brown Jr’s Tracker School. It was there that I was told to «learn as much as you can, as hard as you can.» This is the inspiration for The Movement Academy. I want to train myself and others to their fullest potential.
