Description

Specialties

BrightHaven is a special animal hospice & teaching foundation dedicated to the care and well-being of senior, disabled & terminally ill animals. BrightHaven offers cage-free long-term care, holistic care, hospice care, retirement care for senior animals, and care for special needs animals. Our resident cats and dogs are completely free to roam indoors or outside in the enclosed gardens.

Once an animal is «adopted» by BrightHaven, they live out their lives in a beautiful, well balanced environment as part of a loving family. At this time, the BrightHaven family includes many cats, several dogs and horses, a goat, a goose, several ducks and even a few roosters.

By animals teaching humans at BrightHaven, a new paradigm of holistic care has emerged. The sanctuary has since become dedicated to sharing this knowledge with the greater community through seminars, classes, consultations and literature. At BrightHaven, you can find courses in Animal Reiki, Acupressure for Animals, and more.

History

Established in 1990.

In 1990 British born businessman Richard Pope and his wife Gail opened their home and hearts to countless unwanted cats, dogs and other animals.

In 2010 BrightHaven expanded into the wider world of rescue, saving the lives of animals at risk for euthanasia in shelters across Northern California by placing them in loving homes. This mission continues to expand.

BrightHaven’s current focus is the acquisition of a halfway house in the California Bay Area, thus allowing the rescue of many more animals. Also, we are seeking to find personel and investment for the BrightHaven center to continue and grow thus becoming Gail and Richard’s legacy for the future.
