Specialties
Our expeditions are designed to provide travelers with personal experiences in the most fascinating places on Earth. For our voyages we exclusively charter top quality vessels ranging from elegant yachts to comfortable expedition vessels with ice-hardened hulls. These small ships, with a capacity range of 40 to 165 passengers, enable us to find our way to remote corners of the map and provide an in-depth look at some of the most amazing natural and cultural wonders in existence.
While we believe expedition yachts and small ships to be one of the best methods of environmentally responsible travel, there are some areas off the beaten path that can’t be reached by ship. Our Eco-Expeditions are limited in size – only 10 to 24 per departure – allowing us to share these land destinations with our travelers by utilizing other modes of transportation, always considering environmental implications and putting safety first.
History
Established in 1990.
Zegrahm Expeditions was founded more than 20 years ago by Mike Messick, Jack Grove, Peter Harrison, Shirley Metz, and Werner and Susan Zehnder. Each of these explorers has visited more than 100 countries; collectively, they’ve been to Antarctica more than 250 times. Their adventures run the gamut from journeying over 800 miles on skis to the South Pole to conducting marine research with Jean-Michel Cousteau. In 1990, the six seasoned travelers (and friends) set out to create a company where they could combine their wealth of travel knowledge with their passion for showing others the world’s most fascinating places, by land and sea.
