We are Scarecrow Video’s coffee shop and screening room. We proudly serve espresso and coffee from 7 Roasters (in Ballard), teas from Teahouse KuanYin, Tipu’s Chai, fresh treats from Chaco Canyon, as well as beer, hard cider, and lots of cane sugar sodas.

History

Established in 2012.

In the spring of 2012, we at Scarecrow Video opened VHSpresso. Coffee, tea, beer and movies!

VHSpresso earns its stars thusly:
1. Being open early
2. Shannon Wheeler’s caffeine-​fueled movie poster parodies
3. Service: attitude and knowledge
4. Delightful movie-​themed specialty drinks with Chai and Tea varieties
5. Drink quality
Plus the special-​to-​me bonuses: quietude, alcohol after 3pm (great if you’re making a kidfree visit), friendliness of the customers (yes, you read correctly), and at least one counterperson knows what an espresso con panna is.

Great coffee, awesome service, convenient walk-​up window, would be five stars if they were ever actually open at 8! They even advertise a double punch hour from 8 – 9 but this morning I stopped by around 8:10 and no one was inside. Bummer. Wish I could make VHSpresso part of my wake-​up routine.

This place has consistently great coffee.
… because there is only one person working they often have a sign up «be back in 2 minutes»… when it is 33 degrees out I’m not about to wait around in the cold for 2 minutes so I get sad and go somewhere else… but let me be clear — it makes me sad when this happens because the coffee is so good!
I would love it if they could open up the lobby in the winter and just put up some barriers banning folks from going into the rest of the store… they would get a lot more business, probably…

I love VHSpresso. Just a small hole in the wall coffee joint. Decent drinks. Decent prices. My favorite time to come here? When Xoe is behind the counter (super barista crush going on).
My favorite drinks here are the Italian soda’s and cremosas. Xoe convinced me to try a peach/​raspberry Italian soda, and haven’t looked back.
Also, take the time to browse the movies in Scarecrow Video. Seriously my favorite hangout in all of Seattle.

Yeah, coffee a block from my house again! I Love New York Deli didn’t count, and now they are gone. The barista at VHSpresso is nice, the coffee is GOOD, and it’s in the best video/​DVD rental place in the universe. I’ll give them 5 stars when the get a place to sit.
