Vantage Park

I waited 6 months to write this review so that I was able to get a more complete experience before making an assessment. This is my first apartment of my own and I am completely and entirely satisfied; I would recommend this location to my friends/​anyone seeking housing in First/​Capitol Hill.
First and foremost, the management team is excellent here. I have always had problems dealt with expeditiously and the staff is extremely friendly. I can come to the staff teams with problems or just for conversation. A real standout is Dustin, he is attentive, welcoming, and in my experience has always been responsive to any problems I’ve had.
The facility is also great. It is generally very clean and exceptionally quiet. I also feel safe in the building. Feeling secure is a priority and I have never felt unsafe here. There are also decent amenities including a small (but well kept) fitness room, a courtyard (great when it’s sunny) and a rooftop deck with a pretty awesome view. As for my unit, the appliances are all new and I love the configuration. The numerous windows give great light, and it does not feel cramped as some of my other friend’s apartments do.
You can’t this beat location. It is perfect for students (like myself) or those who commute downtown/​central district, but perhaps don’t want to live in the bustle of those areas. It is also close to numerous dining and entertainment options, with the Pike/​Pine area being just under a mile away. Trader Joes, Safeway, and QFC are all within a .7−1.5 miles away. There is also easy access to medical facilities including primary care and a hospital.
You may be wondering at this point why I am giving a four star review. If I had to critique one thing, I would say that the price point is a bit ($ 200 – 300) higher than what I’ve seen for similar housing. AT THE SAME TIME, I duly recognize that Seattle rent fluctuates through the year and that I happened to move into my apartment during a time that the prices were skyrocketing as demand increased sharply. I acknowledge that prices have gone down for units since I’ve been here. So please take this comment in tandem with a consultation for what prices are when you are inquiring about housing.
I have no complaints as of now regarding the facilities, staff, or my experience here. Check this place out if you are looking for housing, it’s worth it!

The best moving experience ever. The manager Dustin is very friendly and helpful. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to call this place home. It is a great location and the place is beautiful. I won’t be leaving anytime soon.

This place is a joke. I pay almost 2,000 dollars to live here in a one bedroom apt. They shut the exercise room down at ten so you cannot work out when it’s late and they are always shutting the water off almost every week because supposedly of a water heater leak. This is not acceptable for a place that charges this month. The garage smells like trash because they never clean the trash room. What a joke, I recommend looking elsewhere, their are to many other nice places available.

I’ve lived here for almost three months now and I can tell you that this is the perfect place to live if you’re interested in being close to great bars and restaurants in Capitol Hill and don’t want to deal with the noise and other problems that come with living in Capitol Hill!
The new manager and maintenance team do anything they can to make living there an easy, great experience! Believe me, I’ve been renting for more than 6 years now and this is been the best experience by far!

Two months later and I still haven’t gotten my deposit back. They don’t pick up the phone or return calls or e-​mails.

The only reason this place gets one star is because Unilocal won’t let me give them 0. The apartments themselves are beautiful. Loved my view, loved the layout and everything is really great quality — the maintenance guy is also AWESOME and fixes everything within a day that you put a work order in for it.
The management is the problem. These people have NO idea what they’re doing and show little to no professionalism. I lived here for almost a year and no matter how many times I stopped into the office to pick up a package or ask about something, they NEVER knew my name or even tried to remember it. The apartments are incredibly overpriced, as are the utilities.
My apartment was NOT cleaned before I moved in, even though they wouldn’t let me in for 7 days in the beginning of October supposedly so they had time to clean it. As a college student whose school year had already started, I didn’t have time to complain about it and wait for them to take another 7 days to ACTUALLY clean it. I needed to live as close to campus as possible, since commuting from Lynnwood with morning classes was taking a toll on me. We moved in to wet, stinky carpets from the previous tenants, a filthy tub with hair clogs, countertops that hadn’t even been swept over with a papertowl and a filthy toilet.
Multiple times, we had problems with our elevators, the pipes bursting in the building and the water being shut off for hours — and NOT A SINGLE EMAIL was sent to let us know what was going on. I’m a college student that works 40+ hours a week at two jobs, and has a full academic load, and this was a huge inconvenience to not be warned in advance to allow for extra time or make other arrangements.
We had issues with the online payment system that almost kept me from paying rent on time and they didn’t even bother to email the tenants or post up any kind of sign indicating that this was an issue on THEIR end and that everything would be taken care of and resolved. I called every time I had an issue, and twice out of the 50 times I’ve called was my call returned — since they don’t even answer their phones to begin with.
Now that I’ve moved out, they’re still awful. I moved out at the end of May and received NONE of my deposit despite the HOURS of work my mom (an apartment manager herself) put in to clean it so I could get my deposit back. $ 300 of the $ 600 I paid up front was a «move in fee»… which is already an unnecessary charge. The rest of the $ 300 was taken by $ 215 I know they’re not using to clean the carpets and $ 85 to clean the apartment that was already CLEAN enough for someone to move into right away.
Honestly, as a first time apartment renter, this was an awful experience with people that never answered the phones/​emails, never told you when something was going on in the building, and were hardly ever even in the office to help you if they were going to be so unresponsive via phone and email. You can bet that if you don’t see them in the office, 99% of the time they’re smoking on a nearby corner, and if you ask for their help for something urgent, they’ll say they’re off duty for their 15 minute break (but this happens more often than a 15 minute break allows).
Truly, an awful management team with no idea what they’re doing and not a care in the world for your living environment or situation. Really, you can find a cheaper apartment or condo to rent with far better management EASILY in the beautiful Capitol Hill/​First Hill area.

My reasons for this rate:
I lived in this apt complex one and a half years. Throughout this time Jamie and the team were nothing but cool to me, didn’t bother, were patient with me. Did not have problems with management at all. My objective rate for the complex would have been 4 starts or 4.5 since there’s not much amenities except court yard and recent rooftop, but I have personal reasons to appreciate this place.
I was living in a nice one bedroom on fifth floor and every morning I was enjoying rainier view, which is really beautiful, specially covered in morning fog and colorful clouds. So, every day already was starting with a good vibe. The location itself is good for my type, being on a quiet street with walking distance access to all the benefits of capitol hill. I don’t have a car myself but there’s always a car2go near by, so commute was rather easy, plus walking is good from time to time. 15~20 mins to get to i-​90.
Did not have any problems with neighbours during all 18 month there, may be got lucky, judging from another reviewers. On the other hand, seems like they did not have problems with me, which is also important. Sometimes I was catching myself during piano practicing at midnight (you can imagine how does semi-​decent party sound like, specially on Sunday night).
Another reason is related to the story with my friend that had knee surgery at some point and was living at my place for a month during recovery. Jamie gave me discount for keeping friend’s car in the garage (i payed 100), which was nice of him.
The funny story happened when I dropped the keys into the elevator shaft, returning from grocery shopping at night. At that time, emergency hour line could not help me since all locksmith were closed. I know they have spare keys, but I couldn’t get them, so I kicked the doors to my apartment, obviously damaging the door frame (which is the only concern of mine, given how easy it was for someone who haven’t played soccer for a while and is sitting in front of a computer most of the awaken hours). In the end the frame was repaired for free for me, which surprised me in a good way.
There are many little examples like that, and i really could not find solid example to make a case about my bad experience at vantage park (Altho I tried, who doesn’t like to bitch?). I don’t know what party of that was luck, but I can attest the effort on management’s part to make it consistent.

I lived here last year for a while and found it to be really nice. My unit faced south and there were no major noise issues — at least, nothing that isn’t typical living in the middle of Seattle. The unit was clean & had new appliances when I moved in. Management was always prompt about mail, financial issues, etc and was clear and helpful in all their policies. I eventually left to move in with my boyfriend, but for the time I lived there I liked it quite a bit. It’s close to a lot of stuff, street parking is plentiful, and rent is fair for the size of unit you get.

I’m not a big Unilocaler but I felt compelled to respond because the ratings of this place are not at all fair. I’ve lived here for almost 2 years and overall really love it. I think the biggest pro is the fantastic management and maintance staff on site, who started right about the time I moved in. They are extremely curteous and respond very quickly to even the tiniest requests.
Other comments about the place: Fantastic location (walking distance to cap hill, the stadiums, and downtown), relatively decent price, allows dogs, new rooftop deck, ²⁴⁄₇ gym, nice courtyard with bbq.
I will admit that due to its proximity to Seattle U, there are a lot of college students in the area and it can get a bit loud on the weekends, but management has put policies in place to address this and I don’t find it to be that big of an issue.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to live in the First Hill neighborhood.

Terrible apt complex. Moved out in the 3^rd month

I give it a 3.5 actually. I do agree with the fact that there is more noise than your typical retirement community however I find the tenants to be pretty respectful since new management came in. If you complain, they will do something. OR you could just be a man and knock on your neighbors door and ask them to kindly be more respectful… On that note, I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good deal near the city and does not mind a lively spot.
Oh, and I hear they are hiring night security, should help with evening noise.

There are so many noisy tenants in this apartment complex, this is already like a second home to cops responding to noise complaints. They might as well station an officer in the courtyard every night, since someone is just bound to either have a loud karaōke night, loud movie night, or just a loud night.
Unless you don’t need any sleep, don’t even think about living here.
