US Post Office

This post office location is really scattered and disorganized. I no longer trust them handling my mail (incoming or outgoing).
1) I ordered and pre-​paid for a post office box online. When I went into pick up keys and sign my agreement, I was informed I’d need to wait a whole week because they didn’t have keys. On to top this off, I had to call repeatedly to check in to see if the keys were printed; otherwise, it would mean standing in a long line just to be told the keys weren’t available.
2) it’s not even been a month and my mail has been mishandled. They lost my personal check order that requires a signature. Tracking information shows it is available for pick up as of 4 days ago. The lady behind the counter told me that could’t possibly be the case. Ok, so why does tracking indicate it’s available? An overwhelmed handler came out to talk with me, and he expressed that it looks like the package is lost. Seriously? You had one job. The package didn’t even have to leave the building or go into a carrier’s van.
After calling the customer service number they did in fact confirm my package should be available and it is marked available for pick up because it was passed to this post office to deliver to my po box.
What a mess. Too many extra trips to and from this place just to get the run around,

I have had a PO Box at this station for a year. I no longer need it, and have spent the last 2 weeks trying to CLOSE THE BOX. I filed my forwarding paperwork, but neglected to remove my credit card info from the auto-​pay and have now been charged for 3 future months I will no longer be receiving mail at the PO Box. I have made 3 personal visits, called multiple numbers, and gone on the website for information or help in doing this. I have received inaccurate information from 2 different reps at this location as to how to close the box and get my refund. I have left my personal contact information so the one person in charge of PO Boxes could call me, since my work hours don’t allow me to stop in every day to see if they are available. This person has never returned my call and they don’t answer the phone number provided on all their materials and website. I understand that they are under-​staffed, but if an in-​person visit is the ONLY way a consumer can do something, it really limits how a customer can deal with issues without taking time off from work. Which I would happily do, if I KNEW the person I was taking off work to see was going to actually be there.

I live in Salmon Creek in Vancouver, and this is another one of the legit US post offices that is close to my home. This location is small; there is only one clerk counter, but that is okay as there never seems to be much of a wait. They seem to have all the stamps I need in stock (fancy forever stamps, international first class, domestic postcard, 10 cents, etc), The clerks behind the counter are friendly and there is plenty of parking.
