Trevor White Therapy

I must say like all, it is normal to feel skeptical about going to see a counselor and of course I was. Trevor makes a welcoming and comfortable environment, its easy to feel like you know him as a old friend. He does not ask probing question rather he asks open ended questions, this leaves it for you to go at your own pace. My visits started due to a big life change, moving from the bar industry took its toll with all the many years of heavy drinking. It amazing how much less you can tolerate from others when you have not had a drink :-)
Trevor does an excellent job storing up our sessions in his steel trap of a memory and remembering key important tidbits you said, even if you didn’t realize you did. He then will use that to make connections to other sessions and rather than him pointing them out, he will guide your toward connecting the dots yourself, much more satisfying. At the end of each session he would address a topic that we spoke about, either have me come to a new approach on how to look at things or suggest one. I would try it in between sessions and see how it helped.
He is a great guy and I cannot say enough about him and I know I am missing way more. Trevor is open minded and not bias on anything you talk about. I would highly recommend closing all your other tabs with other options and give him a shot above anyone else. You will not be disappointed with your choice! Counseling, as you either already know or hopefully discover, is, to state the obvious, incredibly personal. Whether you have issues in your past or your present, things buried deep that you only catch occasional glimpses of, or something that is constantly on the surface and interrupting your daily goals, counseling is something that I think everybody should participate in. The world is an incredibly complicated place, moving at an ever increasing pace, and interacting with people is always multi-​layered and multi-​faceted, and affected by conscious and unconscious things in our past and present.
Recognizing this, I pushed for some kind of counseling prior to getting married to my amazing wife. It wasn’t that we didn’t get along well, because we actually have always gotten along better, and treated each other better, than most people I know. I wanted to be proactive, and work on things before they became problems so that they never truly became a really big problem. I grew up a ‘troubled child’, experiencing psychiatrists and therapy, overly cerebral and introspective, and skeptical about anybody being able to tell me things I didn’t already know about myself. So I was going to be a tough case, without a clear direction I wanted things to go, and that is obviously a challenge.
From the first session, Trevor was, perhaps most importantly, really easy to talk to. A therapist can be the most intelligent and insightful person in the world, but if you don’t feel like opening up to them, they aren’t going to be able to do you any good. Trevor is fortunately not only intelligent and insightful, but gifted in his ability to put people at ease and converse with them in a non-​judgemental, bi-​directional way. My wife and I have very different communication styles, and yet he talks to both of us in ways that work for both of us at the same time. He has not only helped us navigate differences in outlook and personality that could have led to tension in our relationship if left unaddressed, but he has provided concrete usable tools and techniques for overcoming tensions that invariably do arise. Trevor also manages to make you feel like he is a friend without ever making you feel like he is on one person’s side or in any way crossing the professional lines that maintain his effectiveness as your therapist, and I imagine that is a rare ability and difficult line to walk.
As the above indicates, I could probably rabbit on endlessly about Trevor and how great he is and how highly I would recommend him. I could also fill pages with how much I think therapy and counseling should be a part of everybody’s life, probably starting in middle school at the latest, and how having structured time to think about and work on yourself and your relationships is truly invaluable. But I’m hoping you still (are) read (ing) this, so will just end by saying that you will do yourself a service and invariably improve your life by dipping a toe in therapeutic waters if you have not done so already. And that whether you are a total n00b to the process, or a seasoned pro, I can not recommend Trevor highly enough to do him justice. Trevor and I have worked together over the years since I got out of rehab. He really helped me understand my recovery from addiction and how to get the most out of myself. He has helped me organize my thought and develop into the person I am today. He is one of the best counselors I have ever worked with.

Trevor is a really great counselor. He counseled my wife and I through pre-​marital counseling. We were skeptical and didn’t know what to expect at first. After the first 2 sessions we were quite hooked. We covered a great deal of topics and exercises that helped us prepare for marriage in the best way possible. Most of all Trevor was very organized, well prepared, meticulous, good humored, and very pleasant. We felt comfortable opening up and sharing very personal experiences and emotions. Our time with Trevor was truly an ideal experience for couples counseling. We finished our marriage prep in March 2013 and I am glad to report my wife and I have been happily married for over 2 years, thanks in part to Trevor and his pre-​marital counseling. I highly recommend him for couples and family counseling.

We love working with Trevor. A friend at work and her husband had met with Trevor for premarital counseling and she was emphatic about how great the experience was. We hadn’t thought about doing premarital counseling, but when she shared a bit about the exercises they had done during their sessions, I was curious. We were not disappointed! Both my husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each other and ourselves better, and focusing on how we can be great partners to one another. My husband recommended continuing to meet with Trevor after the premarital counseling, and I’m so glad we have. We’ve been working with Trevor for quite a while now, and we always look forward to seeing him. He has helped us navigate not only our new life as a married couple, but also the arrival of our first child a few months ago. He doesn’t arbitrate or judge, but rather orchestrates conversations between us and helps makes connections that aren’t obvious but make sense when we arrive at them. He’s very insightful, and has an incredible memory. He references things from sessions past and is able to help make connections between who we are, our pasts, and how we work together as a couple. He has been able to shine a light on issues that might pop up down the road so that we can be prepared and proactive about working through them. I can’t say enough good things about Trevor.
