Tressa Apartments

I don’t recommend anyone move into these apartments. They may be cheap but there’s a reason. All I’ve had is issues since moving in. The management staff is such a joke I honestly don’t know how they got management positions. The buildings are still infested with red ants (fire ants?) it’s been a little over a year since I’ve been living here. You have to keep making appointments for them to come treat the apartment. Also whoever does the books for parking spots doesn’t pay attention and double books spots all the time. When paying $ 60 per spot per month they should be keeping better track. Besides Chris, the staff is rude and not helpful with resolving issues. Now there’s the issue of the garage door today marks the 2 week mark where it’s been broken. Just permanently left open, now people have noticed and are starting to break into cars. As well as just taking the spots, since Tressa can’t actually do anything about it. Their solution: call the security guards who can only put a sticker with a 24 hour window to come move their car or it will be towed at the owners expense. First of all I’m PAYING for my parking spot, so you mean to tell me when you already know it’s my spot all you can do is put a sticker to move within 24 hours?! Such a joke! Why would anyone care about a sticker when they get a free 24 hour parking spot. Great job management. Now when I went to approach the assistant manager sitting at the front desk not only does she have RBF (resting bitch face) but when I tell her the situation she just replied with: «we ordered a new garage it takes time.» Then I proceeded to say then they would have to cut the bill in half or more for as long as the garage door is broken. When I said this she immediately got defensive and said that’s something I would have to speak to manager about. Then I proceeded to ask to make an appointment with said manager for tomorrow at 9am. She replied with «well she won’t be back until Monday, me: okay Monday at 9am then. Her: actually Tuesday will work better, me: okay Tuesday at 9am then! Her: actually it’s be more 12 Tuesday, me: okay I don’t give a shit when just make me an appointment for the soonest availed time. Her: well you can just come in on Tuesday and talk with her Me: so you’re not going to make an appointment for me? Her: I can but you can just come in and talk to her Tuesday. Me: I see what you’re trying to do, you don’t want me to talk to the manager. Her: that’s not what I’m doing. Me: then why do you Lee changing the convince of said manager?
At this point the conversation turned into an argument. Also at this point another blonde with glasses assistant manager came out and said: okay let me stop both of you. She said she heard everything but decided to side with her coworker and decided to ask me to leave for saying shit once during the conversation with the previous assistant.
Hope Tressa gets some better management staff and over all improve. Security guards that are supposed to roam around never do even when you call them.

It’s comfortable and nice looking. I have a nice view of the garden and the Holiday Inn. However, my wife and I feel that the smoke detectors are overly sensitive although I understand that it’s probably for safety reasons. I do hear partying in the middle of the night sometimes, especially on the weekends. As far as the location goes, it’s not the worst but I have lived in better places.
We were forced to move here because at our other place the apartments were bought out and the rent went up fifty percent and we had to be out of there by a certain time. When we accepted the apartment, it took over a week to get approved and the time came that we had to move out of our other place so we had to stay at my dad’s for a few days and put all of our stuff in storage. We finally got approved but it was a major nuisance.

I lived here from September 2013 to April of 2014, and I am baffled at all the negative reviews. My experience working with the office staff was always pleasant and usually fun. Briony or Bryony (I can’t remember how to spell it) was always great. In fact, when I had to break my lease to move out of state for a job, she warned me I would get a bill for the remainder of the rent (something like $ 7000 or so) but to not worry about it since they would work hard to rent it out so I wouldn’t be held accountable. I was a little suspicious but she was so great I decided to trust her. Sure enough, less than 2 weeks later she called and said not only did they rent it but I was actually getting the remainder of the month I paid in rent back plus my damage, so in all I ended up getting something like $ 900 back after breaking my lease!
About those apartments and «crime». The apartments were tiny but super nice. New appliances, sturdy walls, and huge bathroom. Obviously it depends on who your neighbors are but I literally NEVER heard any footsteps from above me nor did I hear noises on either side. I would occasionally hear noise coming in from my patio door, which was in the bedroom unfortunately, but it was pretty minimal compared to most places I had lived on Capitol Hill. As for crime, yeah it’s low income off Aurora so I saw some shady ass looking people around, but never saw «drug dealers» or syringes or anything like other reviews have said. The parking garage was a tad overpriced but worth it to avoid the terrible street parking. My car was never vandalized and I never saw anyone lurking in the garage. At the time there were lots of pretty nice looking cars in there as well. BMWs, Mercedes, Land Rover, lots of nice Hondas. It seemed to me that there were many more normal, nice, respectful tenants there than shady criminal types. I also never heard a fire alarm go off in the 6 months I was there, so not sure why so many people complain about that. Also never saw a cockroach, but even if I did I’d just clean my place and request the management spray. Cockroaches are kind of a fact of life in the world and if you have them, deal with it and they go away. In fact this might have been the first apartment I’ve lived in that I didn’t ever see a bug inside. Yeah, I saw a lot of emergency vehicles coming and going (ambulances, police), but like 1000 people live here so shits gunna happen. Also, even the neighborhood wasn’t terrible for being off Aurora, there is a nice playground onsite for kids (plus a YMCA daycare on site, probably good for parents), plus an even nicer playground with a running path with exercise stations directly across the street. About a half block away there’s a really nice looking p-​patch as well, if you want to get your hipster organic green thumb on. Access to the Interurban bike and running path is also just a block away, so you could ride your bike to Woodinville if you like.
All in all I was very happy with my experience here, and perhaps it was just a I got in the «good» side of the building (I lived on the first floor kind of near the small exercise room), but who knows. I forgot to mention there are some public areas with vending machines (great for a midnight snack or if you run out of coke to mix your whiskey in) and even a room with some older arcade video games in them, which I never used but was kind of cool. I’d probably give the apartment itself 3 stars for being so small, but bumped it to 4 for the staff and how they handled me breaking the lease. A decent if not great place if you are looking to save some money or just can’t afford the rent in a cool neighborhood.

We are two 25 year old girls who are very clean and we got BED BUGS. The office told us that we must have brought them in and that they have someone that they contract with that will come out and take care of it and it would cost us $ 800. Absolutely ridiculous. They also charged us rent for the month after we moved out and kept our security deposit. We took them to court and got all of our money back thankfully. BEWARE

The negative reviews here are spot on. A short list of cons:
syringes and drug paraphernalia in stairways and halls, urine in the elevators, condoms and urine around the grounds and in the stairways, frequent (once a week) fire alarms at all hours of the day and night that last between 15min and 2 hours, gang activity in the garage, cars get stolen and vandalized regularly here, cockroaches everywhere esp near the garbage shoots, worthless security guard (just save yourself the hassle and call the cops next time), people banging on your door drunk and stoned at all hours looking for their dealer, vandalism of the elevators etc…
I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
They are lucky I am forced to give one star in this review, otherwise it would be zero.

Don’t thing to live in the worst apartment complex. management don’t care off tenancy. After living for a caplets years you landed in hospital. Wars place for living. Please take my advise and stay far way from the place. «0» star is too match.

My gf and son live here and I’m always here. This place is gross. There are syringe caps in the hall empty dope bags and bloody towels. The stairwells all smell like piss all the time. Maintenance trys hard to be on top of the mess but it has to be hard. The one star is for location and the secure parking. Although when she first moved there the gate on the secure garage was broke, for a month so I don’t see how secure that is? The heavy lady in the office is rude, she acts really nice when she is trying to get you, in but once your in she, changes up. The other 2 ladies are super cool. I’d recommend talking to them if your, moving in. And, unless your situation was like my gf and you need to, be in a place quick, then look somewhere else. The advertising is great here too, bit once your here a, month you’ll, see what I mean.

I moved here from out-​of-​state over a year and a half ago and was excited due to the kind reception and quick leasing process. I should’ve been more wary with how pushy and demanding they were for all the paperwork to go through. The unit I had been shown during my viewing was on an upper floor and very clean and modern. The unit I was given on the first day back in Seattle, having flown that same day, was cockroach-​infested. I was apologized to and initially told that the apartment was no longer available. After some reconsideration, they comped an upstairs room for me while they made sure the room I had signed for was clean of roaches. Admittedly, the room was on the ground floor so risk of pests are higher. I also have a dog, so thought the ground floor would be more convenient. However, that is no excuse for management to allow my move-​in date to remain the same, knowing full well that I was not only moving in that day, but also flying in from a different state – I would have had no where else to stay but a hotel if they had not given me the other room temporarily.
After deeming the apartment safe for living, I moved in, only to discover that the roaches were NOT taken care of. I made repeated calls with their pest control, who came over almost once a week for 1 – 2 months until the worst was over. I vacuumed every day and fogged the apartment twice until then. Tressa’s only help was a month’s rent compensation for my troubles and payment of the pest control’s visits.
On top of the roaches, I also had sketchy neighbors who knocked on my door frequently around midnight. Near the end of my year lease, the neighbor across the hall was evicted and the room taped off for police investigation. The limited income of this complex makes the neighbor situation understandable, but the few times I brought my concerns to management, I never felt like I was taken seriously.
Management also conducts frequent, and I mean FREQUENT, inspections of their apartments. Reasons span anything from pest follow-​up to structural inspections. They give a day’s notice and it makes it feel like your home is an open door at their convenience and not mine – it’s not odd for them to schedule one a week or every two weeks. The fire alarm also goes off weekly, at all hours of the day. It became a normal occurrence to see a fire engine outside our building.
If you’re looking for a cheap place, management who doesn’t care about your safety or health, and you are able to scare off any suspicious neighbors, then this place should work for you. The maintenance people are great and were usually quick to respond to my requests (broken microwave, screen popped out of door). I also liked the security guards who walked around at night and always said hi to my dog and I.
I moved out after only 8 months of staying there and am much happier with the Equity management group.

Yesterday I called to make an appointment for a viewing.
I showed up today, barely being acknowledged by the staff. When they finally got around to me and asked what I was looking for (after going in detail on the phone the day before– a 2 bedroom), I’m told that they rented their last 2 bedroom last night.
Really?
You couldn’t call and let me know before I drove from the Central District to North Seattle?
Plus seriously, the parking looked awful.
Fail.

This has been one of my best rental experiences ever. The staff has always been very helpful and responsive. The place is kept clean and any issues I had we’re resolved very quickly.

First, I’d like to say that with one exception, the office staff have been helpful and professional. Furthermore I know that they are limited when it comes to what they are able to with problem tenants and I have seen people evicted so I know they will if the situation calls for it.
I’ve lived in worse places as far safety is concerned but not by much. The back side of the building is located right off Aurora and attracts all manner of drug addicts and criminals. Tressa does have on site security at night but from what I’ve seen it’s only one person and can only be in one place at a time.
There are parking spots in the garage and while I feel that $ 50 is quite a lot for a parking spot in north Seattle (that’s what a friend of mine pays for a very nice apartment parking spot in an ideal location in Fremont), but the option is still there. I chose not to pay for one of these spots because I personally know 2 people who have had their cars broken into in the garage, one of them twice and that was earlier this month. While street parking may be hard to come by, they aren’t secluded like the garage and I never had my car broken into.
Noise is a pretty big issue. It’s not that the walls are paper thin, I had one set of loud neighbors but could only hear their drunken yelling when my windows were open. Keep in mind though that from about March through November you’re going to want the windows open because the building gets super warm.
The biggest issue with the noise is that building B is shaped like a U so all the barking dogs, inebriated yelling and arguing reverberates.
The last negative thing to say about Tressa, and I promise they aren’t all negative, is that in the last two months I’ve had people try to sell me drugs.
Be sure to really look through the layout of the specific unit you’re looking at and don’t be afraid to bring along a tape measure. I had trouble fitting my medium sized couch in my apartment.
I nearly forgot. Cockroaches. They kept coming into my apartment somehow. I would see one every other week or so then none for a month, then two or three a day then none for two weeks.
Now it’s time for the positives because I don’t want to this to be one of those complain about everything reviews.
The fix it staff, as I like to call them, are quite prompt considering how many units they have to work on. Once there, they fix the problem to the best of their ability and if its something that’s beyond their ability they are great about calling in someone who can fix it. I had a toilet issue and they quickly called in someone who fixed the problem right away. Furthermore the issue was treated with the utmost urgency and I was very satisfied by how it was handled.
Ultimately, Tressa is a low income building so don’t expect a 5 star experience. I would not recommend it. There are better low income places if you look hard enough. I just want to reiterate that it’s the staff, everyone who works there, that make this place good. It’s the location, building layout and everything else that makes it bad.

This place is a mess. Ghetto as fuck and full of crime/​drugs. My roommate and I never felt safe walking from the overpriced parking garage to our front door. Not to mention they tried to charge me $ 250 for «kitchen vinel» damage after I moved out! I think I would have noticed that before I got the hell out of there. Its a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The office is bunch of sluts too… and thats just the beginning. Dont move here! Its a rip off and the cops are there nearly every night. The only reason im rating it one star is because I have to.

My girlfriend and I lived here until recently due to purchasing our own home and I wanted people to know that we had a wonderful experience living here for over a year. Anytime we needed work done on our apartment the staff responded immediately. I feel just because some tenants were undesirable does not take from their wonderful staff and beautiful apartment units. When we bought our home they made it their business to make sure we were able to get out of the lease early by finding a renter for our unit because they actually wanted the best for us. People need to understand that your experience is very much based on how good of a tenant you are. And even if you are having financial troubles they work with you as long as you make them aware. We made it our business to be good tenants and in return they went above and beyond as our leasers.

My wife and I are expecting our first child and needed an affordable 2 bedroom. Like everyone else in the city, we now needed to head north. We were so excited by the modern fixtures and the recent construction.
Oddly, the building lacks a freight elevator. Consequently, the stainless steel elevator interiors look horrible. Yeah, that was smart.
Upon one of many visits to the office we noted the horrendous parking conditions. Every other time we went there cars were parked in the fire lanes, on sidewalks, and even double parked. I asked one of the staff what happens when people move in or out… scheduling their loading zone… NOPE. I was told that they just look over and try to see whose vehicle it is, try to identify the owner, then try to reach that owner to move it. Really? How difficult is it to reserve the area with a couple orange cones and a calendar? Very unimpressed.
Twice we were there and the cops were there. That prompted me to research the area. The cop who called me back couldn’t comment on the property but he did confirm my inquiries… prostitution, burglary, and high drug dealing area. Yeah, that’s what I want for my kids.
The place has potential. Great looking building setup… love that drunk-​guy-​drove-​his-​car-​into-​the-​building-​look. You can never have enough plywood covered windows. Seriously, there is potential here. Not sure where to start but perhaps enforcement could be better. I say they actually hire military personnel/​real vets to be security. Over all it seems like residents don’t have pride in their building.

It is not the worst place I’ve lived but it had some major issues. My biggest complaints are:
— Loud and trashy neighbors (they do not screen at all.)
— A garbage room that is always full
— Elevators that are down at least one day a week
— One elevator for 6 floors on each wing meaning you’ll wait a long time when they aren’t down
— Fire alarms going of for hours at a time. This happen 4 times in the middle of the night with no apology

I have to agree with the post below — I was nervous about moving into Tressa after reading the reviews, but I haven’t had any negative experiences. The rent is very affordable, right next to a bus station that takes me downtown, pet friendly, nice appliances, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Sure, there are some «characters» that live here, but there’s a security guard at night and I’ve never felt unsafe. I’d definitely recommend it.

My boyfriend & I have been looking for a place of our own and we came across the Tressa apartments! When i first talked to Frank i was very excited because the rent is cheaper then it is in Seattle (Capitol hill, Queen Ann and downtown), they allow dogs which is a plus because we have been turned down from nice places because they would allow small dogs! Tressa also allows you to be creative with your apartment like paint the walks, hang up different things that require you to drill holes in the wall. They Management staff was very nice and helpful, other places we have seen the managers were rude or didn’t seem like they wanted us to even move in. There is great diversity in the apartments which is nice. The apartments look clean and nice
The downfall about the apartments is There isn’t that much parking if you don’t pay for a monthly parking pass in the garage. The apartments are located by aurora which has its stereotypes of having bums, criminals and prostitutes linger around which makes you a little scared for your safety and property. The main issue i have with the apartments is i feel like they make up prices for the 1 bedrooms. When i first inquired about this place i was under the impression a 1 bedroom was 775 dollars or less which made me email them. when i come in to get paperwork they tell me it’ll be 849 plus pet fee, parking and electricity. I don’t know if they are allowed to change prices or if its actually that price.
My boyfriend and I are going to move into the apartments and try to get a 6 month lease but talk to a manager about reducing our rent to under 800 like it originally should have been. If you are going to live here come and see the place for yourself to see if its a good fit for you. i wasn’t disappointed when i came and i didn’t experience anything bad

Seriously though, I have a perfect view of both Linden and 143^rd and have seen gang fights (with nail boards and Kung Fu), FBI raid-​vans busting drug dealers (multiple times), drug dealers and prostitutes just chilling on the adjacent corner. The block has been on lock down about 3 times because of burglary, where they would bar off the street, bring in k9 and all of the north precinct. They finally caught the guys after like 6 months in an awesome police chase around the reservoir that’s across the street.
The apartments say low income but your rent will still be ridiculous because most rooms and living rooms can barely fit a full sized bed let alone the other furniture.
You have to jump through hoops to get in and there is only one office lady that is nice and will work with you, i think her name is amanda or amber or something. Packages are unsecured in the office as well as the parking you pay for. My friends car, along with a bunch others were broken into and everything sellable was stole. There is street parking which you don’t pay for but those cars are always getting their windows busted.
In the larger building you can get any kind of drug, crack, cocaine, marijuana, heroine, I’ve seen it first hand. If you want to break the lease due to unsafe environment expect a court battle.
There is no compost and you have to hike to recycle.

My boyfriend and I just looked at this apartment. The one bedrooms are TINY and while they say they are pet friendly, what they don’t tell you before you come to look at a unit is… there is a $ 400 deposit PER PET plus $ 25 per month pet rent. This is supposedly low-​income housing? Give me a break. Also, while we were there a woman was being given aid in the leasing office by like, 4 firemen. We will NOT be moving here.

Agree with the reviewer below me. Piece of crap apartment! Sadly I still have 3 more months on my lease.
I was promised a free 1 hour massage when I signed my lease, 9 months ago and still never got it.
Workers there are extremely dumb blondes, unbelievably rude, and just have that bitchy look on them.
Never check ID when you get a package from their office, luckily none of my package is lost yet.
Elevators are as stupid as the workers there and never work. Smells like feet also which made me more incline to taking the stairs.
Final word is just to not sign a lease here if you can.
