UGH. I love goats — well sort of. As adult animals they are creepy and their insectoid eyeballs freak me out. Lets not even get to the horrific bleating they do. But MAN. Goats make tasty cheese. They also make for a tasty meal in and of themselves. I noticed this vendor at the Broadway Farmer’s market months ago. «Goat Meat!!!» I asked myself in wonder…“right here on the hill?” I was intrigued, and made a mental note to revisit when I had the time. So yes. Goat meat galore. Legs, roast, rack, stew meat, ground, sausage… you name it! And hot DAMN it’s good stuff. To date I have made a mean curry, amazing cabrito tacos, and a killer jamaican patties using these folks wares. The meat is flavorful, tender, never too gamey, and for a reasonably fair price. I have purchased goat from Pike Place, from Halal shops, and even Hau hau in the ID — none of them compare to the quality you get with Toboton Creek Farms. Let us not forget that goat meat is healthier for you than beef or even chicken, and well. You can have a dinner you are proud of on many levels. The lady running the booth is EVER so sweet, and very keen on your meal plans for what you purchase. Added bonus! Sometimes they have baby goats by their stall! Admittedly, it is weird cooing over cute baby animals while you are buying parts of their family members for supper. But hey, they are still cute and the product you are purchasing is stellar.
