I presented Dr. Maring with an impacted, encysted, infected molar. He determined that the best course of treatment was surgery to remove the tooth, and the adjacent tooth which had been killed by the infection. He was concerned that the loss of bone from my jaw put me at risk of accidentally breaking the mandible, and was very clear and direct about the dangers and likely ramifications of such a break. Prior to surgery he was planning to extract the tooth by making an external incision, with all the trauma that implied. However during surgery he was able to effect the extraction from inside my mouth, avoided breaking my jaw, and I emerged with virtually no complications other than some numbness which has faded to almost nothing.
I cannot recommend Dr. Maring more highly. He’s a skilled healer and an excellent communicator.

Just done the operation. So far so good — except I have to wait for the feeling of my tongue and chin coming back LOL

I had a great experience of extracting one of my wisdom teeth at Dr. Maring’s office.
The first visit was a consultation session, the assistant took a panorama x-​ray of my teeth. Afterwards, Dr. Maring looked at the x-​ray and gave his recommendation. Then, he lets you choose whether you want local/​general anesthesia. Next, he will check the mouth visually to see whether it is feasible to perform the extraction. Before you leave, he will prescribe u some pain reliever so that you can go to the pharmacy before the surgery instead of after.
The second visit was the actual extraction. You need to pay before the operation starts because some patient may be unconscious after the operation. First the assistant will give you some mouth rinse to reduce the bacteria in the mouth. Then she will lead you into the operation room. Afterwards, Dr. Maring will get you numb. It actually only take a few minutes for him to cut the wisdom tooth and extract it. Not all the dentists are capable of doing that. Of course there is bleeding but the amount pain that I got is quite small comparing with the size of the operation. They will give you a piece of paper containing the instructions of the post-​operation care.
The third visit is about one week after the operation, they will check whether the wound has healed properly and gave you a plastic syringe to rinse the wound after each meal.
Overall, the process appears to be well managed from the beginning to the end. They are fairly responsible for the questions that you ask them. I would recommend Dr. Maring’s team to anybody who needs teeth extraction.
The office is located on the 7^th floor of a downtown building with good views, the best place for parking is the pacific place of the next block.

I just went in for my 1 year check up last week and was informed by Dr. Maring that everything looked perfect and that everything has healed up. Less than one year later I no longer have to worry about my wisdom teeth again. I say this in the nicest way possible — I hope to never see your office again, but If I ever do need to come back, at least I know I’m in good hands. Thanks again!

I’ve now had an implant done by Dr. Maring, and my opinion of him and his office has only gone up. He’s very competent and his staff is great too. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Dr. Maring took out one of my wisdom teeth two days ago. He was very friendly and reassuring. His staff went over all of my options with me and helped explain my insurance coverage. I ended up having to be awake during the procedure and that could have been horrible but Dr. Maring did everything calmly and quickly so it was over before I knew it. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, especially if you’re afraid of the dentist like I am.

If I could give Dr. Maring more stars I would. The long awaited double-​jaw surgery is complete and despite a challenging recovery, our teen came through with flying colors due to the excellent care received by Dr. Maring. We honestly felt as though he treated our daughter as if she were his own. He has been very caring and very informative throughout the entire process. IMHO its tough to find doctors who are not only highly technical but have an amazing «bedside manner,» and Dr. Maring is a wonderful and unique combination of both. We are very grateful to him for giving our daughter the lifetime ability to bite and chew properly — something most of us take for granted. He is most highly recommended!

Unfortunately, I fell… hard. After being sent home from the emergency room on a Saturday with what was diagnosed as a bruised mandible and cracked teeth, I promptly saw my dentist on Sunday. There I was told that they thought I had broken my jaw in THREE places! I was then referred to Dr. Maring to be sure.
Dr. Maring and his staff are exceptional. They were able to fit me in that Monday and confirmed that I did indeed have three breaks. Amazingly, Dr. Maring said he would take care of me that same day and perform the surgery to begin the repair. Breaking your jaw in three places is frightening. Being told you will have to have your jaw wired shut for the next month or so… even worse. Throughout the whole traumatic experience, Dr. Maring and his staff made me as comfortable as possible. They were also attentive to all of my questions and concerns. They were truly amazing. My jaw healed wonderfully and my bite feels as though I never injured myself. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Maring and this office. I most definitely would recommend them for any and all oral surgery needs. THANK YOU for taking care of me!

Dr. Maring is great. An honest doctor who does a great job. The whole staff was great too. My husband and I have both seen him and cannot recommend him enough. Honest and straightforward.

Worth. Every. Star. It’s been a little over 24 hours since I got all of my wisdom teeth out, and surprisingly I’m feeling a-​ok!
Like many others, I had been putting this procedure off for the last 4 years or so. Every time I went to the dentist, I got the same speech — «you should probably get those taken out.» Yeah, yeah. I actually had a consultation with a different oral surgeon last year and ended up canceling my appointment because I didn’t feel comfortable with the vibes I felt from that office. This was definitely NOT the case with Dr. Maring and his staff (praise Unilocal for helping me find him!!). I went in for a consultation 3 weeks ago, and they made sure to thoroughly address all of my concerns. Dr. Maring is warm, friendly, and he even cracked a couple jokes before I left my consultation. He told me not to worry, and I believed him. :)
Yesterday, check-​in was a breeze and the sweetest nurse prepped me for the procedure. She was soft spoken and told me she’d take good care of me. Very genuine and easy to trust. Dr. Maring came in, inserted my IV and asked me if it was working yet. I said no, and he said «it will soon.» That’s the last thing I remember. Next thing I knew, I was awake and being walked over to the recovery area. It literally felt like only two minutes had gone by.
The bleeding stopped pretty quickly. I was able to take the gauze out just after an hour. I spent the rest of the day laying around, watching tv, and taking occasional naps. All in all, I’ve been pretty relaxed. Pain is minimal — no pain from my upper wisdom teeth, just a little sore in my lower jaw. Nothing too bothersome. I haven’t had the need to take a Percocet yet. Ibuprofen has been working just fine.
I feel silly for putting this off for so long. If you’re like me and you’ve been freaking out about this procedure, trust me when I say you won’t regret going to Dr. Maring! HE’S THE BEEESSSSST (and all of his staff from the front desk to the nurses)!!!

Dr. Maring’s Office Manager, Cindy, contacted me to follow up on the state of my insurance claim. She was extremely helpful and I appreciated the call. I gave 4 stars on my first review because I was frustrated with my insurance, not because of the care I received from Dr. Maring or his staff. Overall, my experience from a purely medical standpoint was fantastic. I appreciate the concern and care, Cindy!

I am going to see Dr. Maring for my 2^nd implant. Dr. Maring and his staff are top notch, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. And quite honestly, I always dreaded getting an implant, but it wasn’t that bad. Honestly, and I am one that hates going to the dentist. A deep filling from my dentist actually hurt way worse afterwards. I opted for IV sedation for the extraction of my tooth etc… but the pain afterwards was manageable and I am quite pleased with the results.
If anyone has to get an implant, I will only recommend Dr. Maring — he and his staff are simply the best!

I had a broken and painful tooth, found Dr Maring on Unilocal,and the result was great. The tooth was removed literally the next morning within minutes of sitting in the chair with very little discomfort (which should be expected in my situation). This will be where I go if I ever need this service again.

I hadn’t been to the dentist in a good 18 years and so when I finally went, I learned that I had a few cavities and needed to get my wisdom teeth removed. I walked out of that appointment feeling not too shabby because for that much of a gap between visits, my treatment plan was relatively simple.
Anyway, I am one of those people who googles EVERYTHING and so I made myself overly paranoid because I read that after the age of 25, the risks with wisdom teeth extractions increase at a pretty fast rate. I am 30 so I already knew I was potentially at risk and after meeting with Dr. Maring, he confirmed that because my roots did pass very close to the nerves, my risk was about 10−15%. Now, that’s not too terrible but no one wants to hear that, especially knowing that when you get this done at a younger age, your risks drop to near zero. Yes, I was totally kicking myself for waiting so long for a good three weeks.
After leaving my consult, I was still nervous and didn’t feel so confident that I made myself crazy to the point that I was crying in my therapist’s office because I was so convinced that I would lose my sense of taste because of how close my teeth were to my nerves. I then called Dr. Maring’s office and spoke to his assistant (twice over the course of a week) who then gave me even more statistics and told me the risk for my specific teeth was still VERY low and if it did happen, it would more than likely resolve itself in a few weeks. After that, I felt SO much better and then my only worry became the pain involved for after the extractions.
So this brings us to today. I had my appointment at 8am and I walked in so nervous and wound up breaking down in the operating room before Dr. Maring got there. His assistant again reassured and took care of me and as soon as Dr. Maring walked in, we got on with the operation. I was given an IV sedation but found out that they had to lighten the dosage because I would stop breathing through my nose as I was falling asleep so they had to keep reminding me to breathe. Turns out that I might have sleep apnea but that’s something for another review later on down the road! Despite being «awake» for the procedure, I was still so out of it that I didn’t really notice the time going by. It felt like 10 – 15 minutes when it was really an hour long process. The only complaint I would say is that I didn’t enjoy hearing my teeth being cut and cracked and yanked. It wasn’t painful due to the local anesthetic but still very uncomfortable but not at all Dr. Maring’s fault.
So here we are, 13 hours post op and I surprisingly feel pretty great. No complications aside from the sleep thing and the numbness has fully worn off (aside from the tiniest bit of numbness on my lower lip and even that doesn’t feel numb… more like fuzzy). Pain is moderate I would say. Ibuprofen is really helpful but because we are getting into the night, I decided to take the Percocet that was prescribed to me. I don’t want to wake up in pain. I’m a little nervous about the possibility of dry sockets but I know what not to do so I am hopeful that I will not have to worry about that.
Long story short, while you should get this all done at a young age, Dr. Maring truly is as good as everyone says he is. If you have to get it done, there’s no reason to not see him. The whole office is fantastic and they are truly there to take care of you. If I had to do it again (which I thankfully won’t because who likes getting this stuff done?!), there would be no hesitation in seeing Dr. Maring.

Had to get my wisdom teeth removed at 24 when I could have had them removed at 19 if my dentist didn’t tell me to wait for no reason. Anyway, I started feeling a bit of pain and decided to come to Dr. Maring because he was in my network and had all these raving reviews on Unilocal.I’m glad I did.
He was really quick and his staff are all very responsive to my insurance situation (where they don’t want to pay but know they have to pay and are stalling for time by saying they won’t pay). Thanks to Sarah at the office for being really on top of things.
The only thing that kind of deterred me from them initially was how robotic they all sounded during my consultation. All the questions I asked no matter how ridiculous were all answered in like a really «yes, I’ve heard that question 1 293 480 329 times before attitude.» Got the same treatment from Dr. Maring, but then we really have to take in the fact that they’re probably all really jaded with everything. I mean, he has been doing this for many years so it’s understandable… but it would have been nice if they at least faked that they cared. Haha~
Went in for my surgery 3 weeks later and it was so fast (less than 30 min for 3 teeth.) I came out feeling like crap (probably because of the anesthesia) but did not feel any pain in the upper part of my mouth at all. I felt a bit of pain on the bottom where my wisdom tooth was impacted, but that was normal. I mean I did have a gaping hole in my mouth so I was actually surprised that it didn’t hurt more. I only had to take Tylenol the whole time it was healing and after about 2 weeks, I was able to eat everything normally again. The follow up appointment was short, but very to the point with all my questions.
All in all, I had a really good experience and would definitely recommend Dr. Maring for any sort of wisdom teeth extraction.

Maring removed my wisdom teeth less than a week ago and I cannot believe how smoothly the operation went.
My story is somewhat standard. My dentists told me for years that I needed my wisdoms removed, and of course I procrastinated.
Being apprehensive about this procedure, I searched high and low for the best oral surgeon in Seattle. Maring was listed as one of the best in the Seattle Magazine 2012 top doctors.
I contacted his team, they were all friendly and easy to work with. I had the operation on Thursday and within 2 days I was running around looking and acting like my normal self.
I had all 4 removed, no swelling, no bruising hardly any pain!
Maring is a miracle worker!

Wow! Dr. Maring and his staff are worth every star! Two years ago, I was referred by my regular dentist to Dr. Maring to have 3 wisdom teeth out. I went for the consult and was impressed by every staff member, each professional interaction, and how polished the practice was. I left the consult and did not return to have the surgery.
Now, before you make any assumptions, I will tell you that I didn’t schedule my appointment because my dental plan needed to provide an estimate of how much they would pay and how much my portion would be. In that time, I chickened out. I’ve been having dental work done on my horrid teeth for most of my life. However, when I was told in the consult that I would be put under, I was outta there! I was not afraid of the dental work; I was terrified of going to sleep and waking up missing teeth from my skull.
Over the last two years, I have endured significant pain in one impacted tooth and listened to lectures from my regular dentist about getting those wisdom teeth out. I gathered my courage and went back for a second consult.
The consult went well and my experience was much as it was the first time — great staff, highly professional, and a polished product. We came around to talking about the anesthesia again and I expressed some resistance. Basically, I was told, with three wisdom teeth and the impacted one, that was really the best course of action. This time, I scheduled the appointment in a few weeks. I was determined not to chicken out and face the reality that it had to be done (unconscious or not).
The surgery went exactly as described. My recovery was quick. I went back for my follow up mainly because I forgot to cancel and I had food getting stuck in my tooth holes all the time. The follow up went well and again — I had a great experience with all staff members there.
After the follow up, I had an issue with billing and insurance. Without going into details, I will say that Dr. Maring’s office, particularly Cindy (not sure if that’s how she spells her name) was extremely responsive to my needs and completely resolved the issue to my satisfaction.
One of the reasons I chose to come to Dr. Maring is not just because of my dentist’s recommendation. I knew two people in my office that had seen him and they raved about their experience. I also read Unilocal reviews that expressed the same (for the most part). I am happy that I went. If you have to get your teeth pulled, at least you can get great service, a highly professional office, and responsive staff members.

Having dental surgery is never fun. At least that’s my perspective. I’ve had 3 wisdom teeth and 1 other tooth removed by Dr. Maring, and he’s also inserted the metal screw necessary for an implant.
So I’ve had 3 or 4 different visits for procedures here, and Dr Maring is so skilled, that I’ve never had to take pain killers any stronger than regular Tylenol. When I had the screw inserted for my implant, the procedure was so skillfully carried out, that I didn’t even need Tylenol afterwards.
Dr Maring — and all his staff — are highly professional, and were very re-​assuring prior to, and after my procedures, which really helped put me at ease.
So — dental surgery — no fun, but my expectations — in terms of pain level and overall experience were greatly exceeded and I’d recommend this place to all in need.

Have you ever been a 33-​year-​old person with late-​blooming teeth who has ignored the urging of dentists for years to get your wisdom teeth taken out because the idea of surgery terrifies you? Have you then watched in horror as one of your wisdom teeth started to emerge into your mouth with the rest of your regular teeth, but only halfway, causing your mouth to hurt in weird ways you never thought possible? Have you then continued to ignore the frantic referrals to oral surgeons from your dentist until you have finally had your third major toothache in a month and it seems like it’s either time to let someone brutally rip them out or start choosing the font for your headstone (note: if you don’t pick one in advance, your awful relatives will probably make it Comic Sans)?
WELCOME TO MY LIFE.
This is what happened to me and led me, teary and anxious, to Dr. Maring’s office. I went in for my consultation and found all the medical staff to be super helpful and not at all annoyed by my mile-​long list of questions (Will I die? Will you break my jaw? Will I live the rest of my life regretting my decision to let you do this to my mouth?). The doctor was pretty up front with me about the fact that my age put me in a «grey area» where the risk of nerve damage and the benefits provided by getting the teeth removed are nearing even — it’s better to get this done when you’re younger — but looking at my x-​ray together and getting some statistics from him made the decision a lot easier. I asked him if I were his kid, would he suggest I get the surgery — he declined to answer, saying he’s «not in the business of convincing people to get surgery» and noting that his job is just to present the facts, risks, and benefits, and let each person decide what’s right for them. I asked him if he liked his job, and he said he loves it because he’s a problem solver and enjoys being able to fix an issue in someone’s mouth in under half an hour! At the end of our meeting, he patted my hand and said, «We’ll take good care of you here» and it just made me feel better.
I scheduled my surgery for three weeks from my initial appointment and spent that time preparing, having anxiety attacks about twilight sedation and dry socket and pain, and not sleeping much. On the morning of the surgery, we arrived right around 8am (side note: DO NOT try parking in this building’s garage — it’s a total nightmare. Go across the street to Pacific Place instead!) and I was a weepy, adult-​baby mess. The staff were kind and supportive and reassured me that I wouldn’t die under anesthesia and that it would be fine. I made it all the way to the chair and the doctor came in. He told me I had «just a few little teeth» that would be no problem and suggested I just breathe in the oxygen they were giving me. He found a vein among my tiny web of vessels on his first try, and the next thing I knew I was waking up and being walked into a recovery chair.
They did an incredible job! I made it home and had stopped bleeding by the time I got to my couch. I was eating mush by the afternoon, sleeping and icing on and off, and even though all of my teeth were impacted and they removed bone to get each of them out, I never had to take more than an Advil through my entire recovery period. I called them a few times with random questions and they were always more than happy to help me. When I went back a week later to get my post-​op exam, I saw a nurse who said my mouth was healing well. She gave me a plastic syringe to rinse out the holes and told me I could eat rice and wings again and everything felt amazing after that. It’s now been close to a month and I feel almost like it never happened.
I highly recommend getting your stupid wisdom teeth taken out ASAP, and I definitely suggest you do it here if you can. Great experience, great office, great people. A+++ gross surgery!

Fourteen hours ago Dr. Maring removed all four of my wisdom teeth, and I’m incredibly impressed with how well it went.
The consultation a couple of weeks ago was brief, but both the nurse and Dr. Maring were very thorough without treating me like an idiot (e.g. some dentists have been very condescending, in my experience). I felt completely prepared for the actual surgery, and my many, many fears were alleviated.
The operation today was also incredibly fast. I waited no more than 5 minutes before a nurse took me back, and then three nurses prepped me for surgery in probably no more than another 5 minutes. Then Dr. Maring appeared, inserted the I.V. and started the «twilight» drugs, said something like, «You’ll feel that taking effect within a couple of minutes»… And next thing I knew, it was 20 – 30 minutes later and a nurse was walking me to the recovery room.
Despite the fact that I had all four wisdom teeth and they were only partially erupted, I’ve been completely pain-​free all day (with only minimal Percocet, which I didn’t even start until 8 hours after the surgery, and only as a preventative measure), the bleeding stopped within 10 hours, and I’ve had no problems following the clear directions they gave me to ensure a swift recovery.
Overall, I have to say that I avoided getting my wisdom teeth out for 12 years out of fear of the procedure, and now I feel like an idiot because Dr. Maring made it such a non-​event. I’d absolutely recommend him to anyone needing their wisdom teeth removed.
