The World is Fun!

Yes… of course The World if Fun is awesome. One of the best (and obviously, funnest) local charities/​non profs around!
Beard/​Mustache Festivals?
Beer fests with live music?
Bingo?
Joint Gardening efforts?
Dances?
Yes, yes, yes! AND it is always a party regardless of what activity you happen to be helping out with.
Amy is also one of the nicest people around — seriously a fun person to work with, she makes these events so much fun. They seriously are one of the best partners Unilocal can have to work with for open events and UYE’s!
And lets not forget their Ninkasi lounge in Ballard. Comfy, roomy, and good place for a volunteers BBQ.

Thanks to Unilocal and Katy H, I had an opportunity to experience a wide range of just what TWIF is all about this year.
I am definitely a fan! Being a mom and in PTAs, kids sports, Girl Scouts and things of that nature, I’ve been subjected to more bake sales, cake walks, cookie drives and magazines for charitable drives and put to volunteer in a lot of coat drives and the like more than any one human being should ever have to endure.
In other ventures, it always seems I ended up walking 3 miles or packing boxes of clothes to ship somewhere or another if I wanted to give back with my time.
With TWIF I’ve gotten to give, support, learn and be a part of charitable giving while basically attending super crazy I get to be a kid again parties. HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE THAT?
The staff and coordinators of events are all so nice, and some border on silly with their enthusiasm.
I hope we continue to see TWIF partnering with Unilocal and other venues and companies here to keep us all active while getting us engaged into wanting to find out more and give back more.

I am so excited to get hooked up with «The World is Fun!» through Unilocal.Their primary purpose, as I understand it, is to get 20 & 30 somethings involved in their communities and volunteering by organizing fun & constructive opportunities to do so.
I got involved with Seattle Unilocal’s Hurricane Sandy Relief effort which is being organized through TWIF. Kudos to their organization!

First, TWIF/​yelp focused on a specific family to assist to give those affected an identity: a family of five who lost their whole apartment — a dad, mom and 3 little ones. They provided a list of specific things to bring, for guidance, but they also don’t turn away good things. Next, they’ve organized various events to gather donations at various times to work with people’s schedules. Upshot: the family is surrounded by 80 other displaced families in need who they, in turn, will share with… that’s networking!
Shout Out: Amy, the director, went out of her way to meet me outside of the designated donation times to accommodate me bringing things from Tacoma. Thank you, Amy! You are wonderful!
I was so impressed with Amy and felt so good about the work TWIF is doing for this project that I’m working to pull together more donations for Unilocal’s sponsored Hurricane Sandy family this week! And I look forward to working on lots of TWIF projects in the future.

These people are outstanding. Such a great idea, who doesn’t love helping others and having fun at the same time. I also love their name, in fact its a motto I hope to embrace for myself. They seem to go to so many great events, many of which I am already attending since they are so awesome. I already volunteer a million places, but if you don’t you should definetely consider doing stuff with this group. I’ve been to their bingo fundraiser twice, always a good time, I highly recommend it, even if I can’t get oreos from my forehead into my mouth without using my hands. My boyfriend hates fun and he even seems to enjoy himself. I also see TWIF represented at many Unilocal events where they are always spreading the word and increasing everyone’s fun. Do check them out, you’ll be glad you did. I already have my eye on that bad santa event I heard about tonight.

The World IS Fun!
I’ve attended a few TWIF events and not only are they unique and fun, they’re for a good cause. Can it get better than that? I don’t think so! Whether it’s a bearded lady contest, karaōke, or cardboard tube fighting, the TWIF folks are always coming up with hysterical new event ideas that keep me on my toes.
I love that they help young folks find volunteer opportunities in and around Seattle. Young adults are known for being somewhat selfish (or at least broke) and TWIF is breaking that stereotype apart. I’ve never seen so many hip young people get involved with local events and give their time to help others. Any time I see a TWIF event posted somewhere I make sure to read all about it. Heck… sometimes there’s even free cupcakes and beer!

A great way to do good, meet new people and have a lot of fun!
