The Tummy Temple

No reputable clinic — not traditional, alternative, chiropractic, massage, accupuncture, or anyone else — has ever before refused to make an appointment for me unless I gave a credit card in advance.
I was having some terrible recurring stomach problems this past winter, and thought a good scrubbin’ on the lower innards might help. (Turns out cutting back on salt and quitting msft did the trick.) But when I called, they insisted that a credit card was required to schedule an appointment, and that they intended to «keep it on file» for future use. Even if they intend well, that’s poor privacy management for financial data, which makes me worry that their health records management might be just as bad. So I decline, and they refused to make me an appointment.
THEN I get an email from them, in which they announce that they’ve created an account for me (which I didn’t ask for or authorize) and suggest I can enter my own credit card information in their online accounting system… and there’s a PLAINTEXT PASSWORD in the same email. Jesus wept.
I’m sure they handle the functional parts of the service well, but holy smokes they desperately need grownup supervision on the business side.

I made an appointment for a Friday evening I showed up 10 minutes late and was told that that time would be taken out of my appointment. The girl was professional and nice but I felt like she was in a hurry to go home. I don’t think it was worth $ 100

It’s kind of weird to write a review about something like having your poops sucked out of you but… here it goes.
If your gonna have your poops sucked out Tummy Temple seems like the place to go (haha, I didn’t even think of that beforehand).
The process was embarrassing but Tobyanna made it as comfortable as possible. She is so nice and has a great energy that make you feel at ease in the odd situation your in.
I went in to Tummy Temple because I’d been having severe «tummy issues» so bad that I couldn’t sleep. I was desperate. I felt better almost immediately, later that night I was detoxing and felt like crap (if I would have read my handbook they gave me I would have known what to expect), the next day I feel almost back to normal. Tobyanna suggested some at home care that I am currently doing that I think will put me back on the normal path. I wish I could go in again next week but funds prevent. I seriously never thought I’d be wishing I could go back to have more poops sucked out, let alone recommending it to my friends!
Trust me, it’s not that bad and if your uncomfortable in the poops area it’s totally worth it.

I called, looking forward to booking an appointment with one of their naturopath physicians. We picked a date, but then I was told that I needed to give them my credit card information. Now, I know that many companies do this, but I had my credit card information stolen not once but twice last year! (once with the Target fiasco and the other with Bank of America). I’m not the type to NOT show up for appointments (I book them because I want to go to them), but if I didn’t give it up, then no appointment for me. So, no appointment I guess. It’s a shame — I was looking forward to trying it.

Our family has used The Tummy Temple for years, and we really love the people who work there. They are kind, concerned practitioners who care about what they are doing. Their irrigationists are well trained, which is very important, because, frankly, an untrained irrigationist gets poop all over the table. T.T. people do not.

Great experience with Nedra. She made the experience as comfortable as you can during this «elimination» process. I am going to make another appointment!

In contact with was very nice. They seem to be helpful and will assist you in any self healing you are undergoing. Although I had somewhat of rough experience there with Dr. Lisa. She advised me towards an excellent treatment plan that was somewhat extensive. The issue i had was i had very little direction and instruction. For instance, i had to send in a specimen for testing. The kit they gave me didn’t have any directions with it. Another issue was I couldn’t get responses from emails and if I did they were like almost a week later. This was during a treatment plan and I was having to to do lots of field work on my own to get everything that I need and I couldn’t get response or had to wait days to get an answer. Also they mark up some of there products up to 100 percent. I paid double for supplements on a few occasions. (After checking prices online) It overall is a good place, but somewhat turn and burn. I was never able to receive great guidance here, but using some of their services has assisted me in keeping my digestive issues at bay. I feel the natural path world is struggling to heal people because of the need to turn a profit.

This place is ok, parking is difficult, and the building itself is hard to spot. I had to drive around and around the first time I came because I couldn’t see the building from the street! But like I said, this place is ok. The services they give aren’t bad yet the reason I probably won’t be back here again is because I didn’t feel cared about enough as a client.
They are VERY unforgiving if you miss an appointment. They charged me the full price even though I had never ever missed an appointment. And I had been there numerous times before. And even though I had an emergency situation for missing it! Plus they were very cold about it! They didn’t care when I said I couldn’t afford $ 85 down the drain because I am a single mother. Nor did they care that I hadn’t been there for over a year and really needed the treatment. In fact they tried to say I was lying and that I had just been there a month before!
I think they should excuse just one time of missing an appointment. Seems a little greedy if you ask me. At the place I work, I always excuse the first time, sometimes second time when my clients miss an appointment. No one is perfect and I understand things happen. To me it’s not about the money, it’s about the person.

My partner had knee surgery 6-​days ago and hasn’t been able to go to the bathroom due to all of the meds she’s been taking. The Tummy Temple was just what she needed to help get the ball rolling! Jolie was not only great at making us feel comfy, but she was super accomodating and gentle when dealing with my sweetie who was suffering both knee and belly pain. I am happy to report that the patient feels much better now and we look forward to a second treatment in a few days. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Tummy Temple is the bee’s knees! I’m not very apprehensive when it comes to alternative medicine/​methods for health related issues, so bring on the colon hydrotherapy!
I was diagnosed with several food sensitivities this past spring, (wheat, dairy, soy, and gasp, chocolate!) and while ingesting these food items don’t irritate my insides, I felt that I needed to cleanse and reset my system. After reading all the rave reviews, I made my appointment with Jojie and went for it. My experience was relaxing and not as painful/​awkward/​uncomfortable as you would think. She thoroughly explained what she would be doing, how the treatment works, what kind of results can be achieved, and all the nitty gritty details. We chatted pretty much the entire appointment and I almost kind of forgot that I had an apparatus in my rear end (sorry, too graphic?)
Overall it was a pleasant and eye-​opening treatment. It’s amazing how much you learn about your body and how great you feel afterwards. I would recommend Tummy Temple to anyone in a heartbeat!

Okay I have read about this before, but this was my very first time ever having this done! It was peaceful, clean, safe and Heidi was a wealth of information! It was not painfull or uncomfortable. She put me right at ease and was easy to talk to.
It was like going to a spa, beautiful room, peacful music, nicely decorated. Everything I needed to know was explained to me before the session. Heidi, was there the whole time and made I knew what to expect and took all the mystery out of it by explaining about colon health and how everything works.
This is the evening of. I had it done this morning and I did not have any embarrasing symtoms that I could not manage during the rest of the day. I feel great. I’m going back in a week since I have years of «back up» were working on.
I only wish I had done this years ago. Here I am healthy at 57 years old, a runner and I eat a well balanced whole foods diet. But I still suffer from a lifelong battle of constipation, that has gotten slightly better but still raises it’s ugly head. I have had my gall bladder and apendix removed which I learned can contribute to tummy issues. I am going back for a few more sessions to complete a series. And then continue once a year or so as needed. This is something I plan on keeping in my routine on my journey to great health.
I would highly recommend this place.

OK, people! I am here to de-​mystify this experience. I recently had my first colonic and it was not painful or uncomfortable at all. Well, maybe not for women, who are used to being poked and prodded and put through pain for health and beauty. Anyway, not painful or uncomfortable at all. Awkward? Hell yeah! Embarrassing? Yeah, a little, but your dignity will stay in tact.
I was really nervous for this experience but my hydrotherapist (or butt therapist, as I like to call her), Jojie was so funny and put me at ease right away. Seriously, I was laughing throughout this entire process, which is welcome at the Tummy Temple! In fact, this is experience was oddly so satisfying that I’m going back for another one this week. Did you know that the average person carries around 5−10lbs of poop? Ack! I learned so much!
If you’ve always wanted to try a colonic, this is the place to go. Everything will explained to you in detail and there will be no surprises. Additionally, you are absolutely allowed to quit at any time during the service. But once you’ve done it, you’ll be wondering why the heck you were so freaked out in the first place. It’s totally gonna be A-​OK!

I had a great experience at Tummy Temple for my first colonic! It really was the last thing I needed to do after adhering to a new healthy diet and lifestyle. I worked with Dr. Michelle Sarif at an intern price, accompanied by an instructor. Dr. Sarif did an amazing job! They both had great advice for me, and asked great questions themselves. They seemed to get to the root of my colon problems, and we had a great session. I will definitely be visiting Tummy Temple again for my next colonic!

A colonic irrigation is not something one would usually brag about, but I had a good experience at the Tummy Temple and thought I should express my opinion.
Their office is in a residential neighborhood, a little off the beaten path. The hydrotherapist I met with, Heidi, was very friendly and seemed well informed on the topic of digestive health. For those who haven’t done one of these, come’on, you pretty much know what to expect. And it did not miss its mark. So while the procedure itself was not that pleasant, Heidi had a soothing voice, and soft music played in the background, so it was about as relaxing as getting pumped full of water can be.
Afterwards, I was surprised at how little discomfort I felt. She informed me that some people feel a bit exhausted but I felt fine.

Today I started down a new path in life, one in which will begin with a 21 day detox to rid myself of 30 years of bad habits and hard living. To jump start my detox I wanted my colon to be working at maximum efficiency, to help expel toxins quicker and easier. Also, it came highly recommended to me by the doctor who created the detox and several friends and family who have done it as well. Here in lies the Tummy Temple and their expertise on the matter.
To help my colon work more efficiently, the Tummy Temple offers up some colon hydrotherapy — in lamans terms — colonics. I have to admit, I was mildly to seriously concerned about what I was getting myself into when I first set the appointment several weeks ago on-​line. It seemed so far away that my level of apprehension didn’t seem cause for concern, that is until this morning, mere hours until I’d be lying on my side being poked and prodded in ways no man should be.
Now that I’ve gone through with my first colon hydrotherapy, I have to admit, it wasn’t bad at all. The staff here at Tummy Temple was so accommodating and pleasant, and especially my specific therapist, Janet, she was great. She explained to me every step of the way what exactly I should be doing and expecting, no surprises thrown at me in any way. Really, the whole experience didn’t seem bad at all, barely any discomfort which surprised me considering the area in which we were working on. The hour just seemed to fly by. Afterwards, we sat down and discussed what had happened and what, if any, reactions I might encounter. She offered up some suggestions to help out with my detox that would make it a more successful experience.
All in all, Janet was great, the Tummy Temple was great, and I’ll be back for my next colonic before you know it, clean colon and all.

The Tummy Temple is the place to go for some cleansing… mind and body. They do other things than colonics like massage, nutritional counseling and acupuncture.
I come her once a year and everyone is very helpful and informative. I learn so much every time I step foot in here and I think everyone should try this at least once. You will feel Awesome!

Let’s start this off by being blunt — if you are a reader of my Unilocal — we have immediately become close friends after you read this review. You suddenly know intimate details about me that the average person doesn’t. I will now consider whether or not to delete my photo from my profile :)
So – COLONICS. Yes. A tube in the rear. How the heck did I get here?!
I had heard a long time ago that colonics were a great way to rid excess «matter» from your body. It’s a good cleansing method, a way to drop a few lbs (of stuff you don’t need up there anyway) and let’s face it — I’m up for new adventures all the time! I thought at the very least my experience would be an amusing story.
I had just moved to Seattle at the time and was feeling comfortable enough to discuss the possibility of the procedure with a co-​worker/​friend of mine. She was thrilled that I was curious about the procedure because she was too. We decided that not only we would go, we would encourage our significant others to come along for the fun too. What’s funnier than 4 people sharing their hydrotherapy experiences on a car ride home?
I do some on-​line research about colonics and I’m intrigued. Then I Google around for places in Seattle and find the Tummy Temple. Little did I know that just 6 miles from where I live lies one of the BEST hydrotherapy offices in the country. Their website is EXTREMELY informative on the procedure, what to expect, what you can gain from the experience, etc. It’s totally pushed me over the edge and I call and make an appointment.
COLONIC DAY: I admit — I’m nervous. I find that the exact body part that I’ll have to expose during this appointment is quite literally my most private part. I couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of a complete stranger poking and prodding down there. When it came time for my appointment I expressed some concerns and joked with the hydro therapist about how bizarre this experience was going to be. She put it bluntly and said, «Look — I’ve seen so many butts I don’t even have to look anymore!» She was professional and really great at dealing with me as a nervous and insecure patient. Once all of the tubes and gadgets were in place, it was much less awkward. (It also didn’t hurt!)
Now we get to the colonic itself. WOW — it feels terrible! I was warned ahead of time that it would feel like that feeling you get every once in a while where you need to be totally alone with a book of matches and a stack of magazines. The hydro therapist talked me through it and kept chatting with me about current events, her job, all sorts of interesting things that were keeping my mind occupied as I felt like I was going to explode. (and yes — they’re with you the WHOLE time. They’re even examining what you expell. really crazy but really interesting.)
POST COLONIC: After we were done, I felt SO much better. The procedure itself isn’t terrible but it’s no walk in the park! I was told that later I’d feel elated and light and energized, etc. I felt all of those things. In fact, I felt great for days!
I haven’t gone back for a second visit but if I’m ever in the mood for a colonic again — I’d never go anywhere else. My experience here was as pleasant as it could have been… considering the circumstances. :)

The Tummy Temple is indeed a temple. I always feel well-​cared for when I visit. I’ve worked with Michelle, who is great.
As the other reviewers have noted, being able to book appointments online is so convenient. The website is full of good information — the bios on the staff are very helpful. The online shopping is great, too. Good product description. Since I don’t live close by (about 30 miles south), it’s not convenient to drop in when I need something so I’ve ordered a few times online. Everything shows up on time, well-​packed to avoid breakage, with excellent directions for use.
I recently got one of their newsletters, and didn’t realize how close colon hydrotherapy was to being removed as a service in the state of Washington by the Washington State Legislature. TT was instrumental in educating and keeping colon hydrotherapy as a much needed service in these stress-​filled times. Yay!
