The Triple Door

Great environment and good shows. Been here three times now and would recommend with one caviat, the cocktail service is very slow. As I’m writing this, it’s been 20 minutes and my wife did receive her wine but I’m still waiting on that very complicated Jack and Coke. Ugh

A nice, upscale bar with excellent live music, drinks, and food selection. Beware the pad Thai has fish sauce and egg!

Honestly, is it me or is service in Seattle going from Bad to Horrible.
I heard the bartender last night snidely ‘thank’ a customer for her .14 cent tip.
I was stunned.
Shortly after, when she walked by me, I foolishly attempted to ask her for my tab when she wouldn’t even stop to knowledge my question, but said out loud: «Ya, I’ll get back to you in a minute». She never did.
This goes from unacceptable to RIDICULOUS.
GET OUT OF THE FOOD SERVICE BUSINESS SWEETIE. YOU SUCK!

I so wanted to give this a better review. Really! I’ve been here many time for various events, concerts, recording sessions. So Ive been wondering why the last few times I’ve come for a dinner show it has been a bit lackluster?
The food has been the main issue and lack of attention to simple details. For example: the post stickers were cold and reheated? The lamb chops were seasoned well though laying in a half inch of oil on the plate. They were also so fatty that more that half of the three chops for $ 27. We’re inedible? The rice was ok, and the salad was fine though overdressed.
As a rule I generally don’t complain but when you have a plate of fat in front of you and share your not too thrilled with the waitress and they say «sorry.» It leaves you wondering what the hell?
Dinner theater is notorious for not so great food but this place has in the past always been pretty good. I’ll come back for the shows but dinner will not be part of the party plans unfortunately.

Nice Happy Hour prices and food selection, but the service is lacking big time. Our server (a guy) was super forgetful, confused, and SLOW. A female server had to come pick up his slack, which seemed unfair as she was even busier than he was. The entire night, drinks and food were taken to the wrong table, and service was insanely slow, which is too bad because this would be a perfect place to go after work if service was better.

Attended a nice burlesque show tonight with two combos, we attended the free showing. Got the happy hour prices for liquor and apps. Parking was convenient and cheap. Service was just the right mix of available without being omnipresent. Food was delish and the dancers and singers very saucy and naughty, which I appreciated.

Great show venue, service leaves something to be desired, food and drink prices are ridiculous for what you are served.
Here we go. Walked in. Gave the young lady the tickets. She escorted my date and I to a table. She apologized before seeking is and said we were a row back. No worries, mistakes happen. Meanwhile, as we are walked back to the beginning of the aisle, the show starts, we get a great little table that I happen to like a little better.
We sit, the usher leaves and we get comfortable and peruse the menu for the cocktail that will compliment «Burlesco Di Vino».
Not so fast, Aaron, another young lady stops by and tells us that we were seated in the wrong seats. We were seated in «preferr and needed to move, we were seated along the wall that I suppose would be «stage right». We shifted a table back.
The folks who the venue apparently «preferred» proffered to us were immediately seated next to us and proceeded to speak to each other in full «outdoor» voices. We finally had to ask them to please lower their voices. They were kind enough to comply.
The waitress, who was great overall, decided to take literally 20 minutes to pour their bottle of wine before getting out beers. That included bringing them 2 glasses, going back for a decanter, and going through the entire process of sniffing the cork and testing the wine and all that.
All I’m saying is manage your time a bit better.
At the intermission, we were told to fill out the cards for the door prizes then not told what to do with them! At the end of intermission, I took them to the nearest usher and asked, I was told the stage manager was doing the drawing right away and we had to find her immediately. Well, we didn’t, so we also missed out on that.
Also I must call out that the menu was played out and so over priced for what they offered. It was almost embarrassing.
This venue is getting three stars because of 2 things:
1) the bones pure and simple. great layout to watch a show.
2) the show was fantastic! See it!
The rest was poor. Sorry Triple Door… I wanted to love you…

There are many cool bars & clubs in Seattle, but the Triple Door rises above. It’s a two-​part affair, with a large oval bar & performance stage up front, and a much larger theater style venue in back. We tried both on for size. The first night we went, live jazz was being served up front (along with really delicious-​smelling Thai food) and they were excellent. I’ve been to more than a few jazz shows in my life, and the sax player we heard was incredible. I am sorry I didn’t catch the band’s name, but it’s pretty obvious that the musicians here are chosen by someone who knows what he/​she is doing.
The bar itself is comfortable and the drinks are well made. We had two glasses of Washington state Riesling, which was excellent — crisp and not too sweet. Lighting is dim around the bar, so the place has an intimate feel.
On our second trip to the TD, we happened to catch the last night of Decibel Fest (a wide array of cool electronic music you will never ever hear on commercial FM). Wow. The booth we occupied at the TD theater was super comfortable. The vodka tonics were large and nicely made, and the music was awesome. Seattle’s music scene may have become famous for grunge, but the experiment continues successfully many new and varied forms of music today. Tim Hecker’s set of ambient techno was both soothing and emotional, with just a little outer space thrown in for good measure.
I highly recommend the Triple Door for music lovers, or those who simply want a good cocktail in a comfortable intimate bar.

Pleasantly surprised with wonderful mandarin chicken served promptly with a cold amber ale. The iconic dinner theater seating is a must experience with not a bad seat in the house

I think I would have liked this place a bit more if we stayed upstairs in the lounge. Instead we bought $ 45.00 for a (Christian) folk music performance downstairs. We came for food and music, so we got the show tickets for a band we’ve never heard of and a music genre we didn’t quite enjoy. And we were told that no one will be playing up where the bar was. What do you know? We walked upstairs mid-​performance to a band that was a better jam for us. Thanks a lot to the usher who lied and sold us $ 45.00 per person (3 ppl) for one band that she couldn’t tell us about. We are Asian people from the hoods of San Francisco Bay Area. Most of the patrons were older white folks from the state of Ohio.
Over the Rhine put on a good performance. However, the music wasn’t our vibe and we were trying not to fall asleep with their sweet lullaby.
Onto to the food:
Yes. It is an Asian fusion eatery. However, I didn’t feel like I was eating any element of Asian food.
I got the wild duck. The bun was on point, the sauce was not. And the duck wasn’t juicy enough. Trust me half a duck is too much, so go for the smaller portion.
The seven beef was quite tasty and the mandarin chicken is good.
Overall, the food was mediocre. I could tell it was made for a non-​Asian palate at an overpriced rate. Or for people who have never had Asian food before. It was like that one time when I foolishly had dim sum in Beverly Hills where each small plate was $ 5 and the food was bland as heck. And fyi, dim sum should be about $ 1-​$ 3 per plate.
If I ever do go to triple door again, I will most likely stay upstairs by the bar.

This place has awesome food and decent drinks. I would definitely get the curry fries again and the riblets were also delicious.
I had a happy hour drink and a Manhattan and while the happy hour drink was made well, the Manhattan left me wanting to make a correct Manhattan. Drinks are a little pricey for my blood here but for downtown they are reasonable.
I had a lot of fun while I was here and could definitely see myself coming back. Seems like it would be a great club for a show.

I liked the venue, but the food was extremely overpriced and really not worth it.
The meat was tough, sauces uncreative and tasted as though they came out of a plastic pouch.
Not sure if they know what green curry is. Ours was composed of a huge amount of chicken, one piece of eggplant, some coconut milk, and black pepper. And it was $ 17.50.
As a bonus, one of the drinks had a bug in it.
IT WAS FREEZING. Bring your jacket and ski pants. God.

The place is dark and just a regular bar. The happy hour isn’t by the stage, it’s just at the main bar room. The drinks were strong! Thanks.

Probably my single favourite concert venue in Seattle. The facility is beautiful with state-​of-​the-​art equipment, and the menu from Wild Ginger is fantastic.
Service is excellent as well. The servers are experienced, professional, courteous, and unobtrusive. They glide past silently during performances and how they manage to find their way around in the darkened auditorium is a mystery to me, especially when some performers have such elaborate lighting effects.

I’ve been to the Triple Door several times. Measured over all visits, this is how it breaks down for me:
As a music venue, ⁴⁄₅ stars. Good acoustics and a relatively small house makes for an abundance of good sound and a dearth of what one might call «bad seats.» Visually pleasing, with comfortable seating (in chairs — I’ve never been in a booth with bench seating).
From the standpoint of good service, ⁴⁄₅ stars. Food/​drink service here has always been very good, especially considering the staff navigate multiple levels with stairs, ramps, etc., and also have to work before, during, and after live shows. Consistently good-​natured staff. Kudos.
From the standpoint of food, ²⁄₅ stars. The food is just not very good to me. You do get large portions for the $$$, but if the food isn’t great, who cares about large portions? Case in point is their pot stickers appetizer. Offered on their menu as a «perennial favorite,» I find these to be overly large, strangely-​spiced gut bombs. I struggle to understand how, in a city rich in Asian culture where pot stickers flow like water in some neighborhoods, you can mess up a freakin’ pot sticker.
Will definitely go back for the music because the venue itself is so lovely. But I’ll eat elsewhere before or after.

This is a great place. I’ve only done the official Unilocal «check in» a couple of times but I’ve been coming here for years.
It’s a great place to grab dinner and a drink while waiting for bands to go up on stage at the nearby Showbox, and they have two stages of their own. The big venue with the bigger names (you’ll need tickets) is downstairs, the smaller stage with the regional/​local bands (you’ll just need to find a seat) is right at the entrance upstairs.
Depending on the time of day and who is playing, the place can be packed or nearly empty. I’ve always found the staff to be friendly and attentive. If you’re a beer geek you’ll find the selection to be less than inspiring, but they do have their own «Stage Door Amber» which is brewed by Elysian and you’ll it nowhere else.
The food prices are tending to the steepish side, so if you’re looking for cheap pub grub, this probably won’t be the place for you.

This is a really nice venue to see a concert. The seats are comfortable and the ticketing agents were quite accommodating as I originally booked for Tuesday but had a conflict. They were able to switch us out to Monday which was very generous. The sound is good although the vocals could have sounded crisper.
We tried to find out about the bumper music and the sound engineer was kind of snotty about it. Really not used to running into snotty sound engineers so that wasn’t cool.
The crowd was okay but they were very sedate. Not quite what you’d expect for a rock concert. Perhaps it’s the whole sitting and dining theatre atmosphere.
We didn’t partake of food while seeing the show but did have happy hour in the bar beforehand. The food is asian fusion and completely up my companion’s alley — for me, it was just little too ‘gotta add a couple more ingredients to kick up the dish’. I ended up having potstickers which were quite good, especially since they were crispy on the outside. The only potstickers I’ve ever had were more soft and mushy to firm with no crisping on the outside. These definitely stood out. They came with a black vinegar soy sauce which could have used some heat. It was a little bland.
The service was okay. We were waited on by several people; I prefer a one-​on-​one approach. The drinks were okay but a little weak and on the pricy side. My friend had several items off the happy hour menu and was super happy with the food but he said it would have been too expensive from the regular menu.
The restaurant and bathrooms were incredibly clean and spacious.
I’d definitely go for another concert and perhaps, the potstickers too.

Drink specials on weeknights will really help this place!
I wandered in here after a show at The Showbox, seeing the happy hour after 10pm board outside. Well, that’s not drinks, just food. Not a lot of GF items on the menu either. I wasn’t really hungry that late so I was really hoping for some drink specials. Nada. Got a $ 6 cider — at least it was local!
It was a Monday night and this place was dead’er than a doornail. It was the live band, one of the band member’s parents (I’m assuming… or their elderly fan club of two) and one other dude. We were outnumbered by the fish in the tank.
Staff was nice and the bathrooms were clean. Soooo, I’d really like to try this place again when there’s a show, to get the «real» experience!!! Maybe next time, Triple D.

On my first night of our Seattle weekend, we decided to take a short walk and find a place close to the W Hotel for dinner. After a few blocks north, we stumbled upon the Triple Door. Checking my Unilocal app, I noticed the good reviews, so we decided to come on in.
Walking into the joint, It was almost like an underground lounge. There was neon lighting around the bar, a stage area with eclectic live music. On the night we visited there was a French singer and other folklore type music, which seemed to make us feel at ease. Sabra was our server and in my opinion below average. She wasn’t very helpful when it came to recommendations and super slow. We literally waited almost 20 mins just for our drinks (18 minutes to be exact). During our meal, we asked for chopsticks and got it 10 minutes later. At the end of our evening, she brought the check and split it without asking us (which was cool), however, only brought one of our 3 person checks. Kind of a fail. As for my meal, we stumbled upon happy hour prices. Here’s what I got:
–Angkor wat chicken bowl for $ 8.50. Chicken breast, wok fried with aromatic herbs, spicy black beans, red and green peppers and onion. This dish was packed with flavor: black beans brought a salty element along with soy sauce. The onions and peppers presented a nice crunch texture. Overall, I’d say the dish is a pretty spicy one!
–Pot stickers, 3 per order, for $ 5. Chicken pot stickers fried inhouse and served with a black vinegar dipping sauce. These were fat and packed with chicken filling, onions and herbs. Soy/​vinegar dipping sauce had a bit of fish sauce in it and helped to elevate the dish.
–The duck sliders, 3 per order, for $ 5. Bao style sliders, duck crusted with sweet peppercorn and topped with a sweet plum sauce. This was easily my favorite dish of the evening. The duck had a nice crusty skin, great flavor and the sweet plum sauce helped to tie the overall dish together. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
–The Rotating local draft beer for $ 4. Our server mentioned it being a locally brewed beer. It was pretty heavy with a slight maple note to it. Delicious take of a light amber.
The food was great, the ambiance was nice. I think if you’re in the downtown area, you really should come by and try this place out. Happy hour will save you a lot of money and allow you to pass around some plates to share within your party. Next time I’m in Seattle, I’m definitely coming back.

The 3 stars should really be 2.5 and are an average of the following:
— Amazing ambiance, artists, sound, and layout
— Very few good appetizers, most just ok.
— Atrocious, absolutely horrendous Seafood Thai Noodles dish
— Very BLAH beef dish
— Mediocre & condescending waitress
— Overpriced
Before the show (which was fantastic!), we spent some time in the lounge having drinks and appetizers. I recommend the spicy green beans and the Ahi. Then we went to our seats and ordered the Thai noodles and their seven flavor beef. Both dishes arrived cold, and the Thai Noodles were absolutely disgusting! 2 shrimps, one calamari & 2 miniature scallops swimming in grease and bland cold wide noodles. Yuck! We barely touched it and told the waitress about it. She gave me a free coffee to «try to make up for not us liking dish». Ha ha haa seriously?
I will have dinner somewhere else and go to Triple Door with a full belly ready to enjoy the show.
