The Rajun Cajun is legit! I was kind of skeptical since it’s made with sliced turkey. The slices are nice and thick and have a great flavor to them.
I actually got the meatball, which was alright, but you could definitely tell the meatballs were turkey. Just not enough of the delicious fat content you get w/​pork or beef.
I had a bite of my friend’s Rajun Cajun and that’s what put this over into a 4 star review. Definitely coming back for that. Perfectly balanced sandwich.

Delicious. Wouldn’t change a thing. Ordered the turkey, electric wizard — whole sandwiches which were really filling and the rajun Cajun — half sandwich perfect size. The flavor was amazing and we lived the food. Small and a little warm inside during a hot day but a great place to take a break from the market on Sundays. Staff was friendly too.

My god. One of the greatest sandwich shops in Seattle (others, IMO, are salumi’s, delicatus, and royal grinders).
Listen to everyone else and get the Rajun Cajun. Just do it.

We have been to Other Coast many times and usually the sandwiches take longer than they should but I went today and waited 25 minutes for 2 cold subs! I noticed they also revised their menu eliminating our go-​to orders — the captain and a hot veggie sub. No need for us to come back!

This sandwich shop has a great selection of sandwiches on the menu, a variety of drinks including one of my favorites — ginger beer — and their staff is always friendly. I order the cajun turkey every time and it is to die for. Turkey piled high, delish spicy habanero mayo, and fresh, grilled bread to boot! Will definitely keep coming back. If you’re looking to kick your deli sandwich experience up a notch, check this place out!

I was craving a mean sandwich and decided to come by here and get a sandwich for lunch. I got here just before the line was getting long and decided to get The Dybwad pronounced «Dip-​Wad».
It’s a cold sandwich, so the bread isn’t toasted but it was a pretty good baguette. Quality roast beef and turkey was freshly sliced, a good amount of meat, a grip full of lettuce, provolone & cheddar with mayo and a delicious mustard.
The sandwich was pretty good, pretty straightforward sandwich, didn’t see anything special or fancy schmancy about it. The 7″ sandwich is definitely filling and about $ 10. Staff was friendly & nice and will call your name when your sandwich is ready.
I want to check out the hot sandwiches next time.

I had the «no meat please» cold sandwich. And my boyfriend had the Reuben. Both were delicious, served fast and we were ably to have a beer why we wait. The place is small and has an eclectic décor.
I took off a star because it seemed like they had only two vegetarian options or the «make your own».

Unsuspectingly yummy! We dropped in on accident because we were looking for coffee. Seems like they get that a lot because they pointed us to a coffee shop (Fresh Flours) two doors down that we could stop off at while they made our sandwich. The sandwiches are pretty big and I’d recommend splitting one for lunch. There were so many sauces and flavors in the sandwich and it was dripping everywhere! but in a good way. I would highly recommend dropping by this place if you’re visiting the Ballard Sunday Market.

This place is delicious. The rajun Cajun, which is the crowd favorite, is all it’s cracked up to be. It’s so warm and gooey. It almost reminds me of pizza (sans veggies).
I wasn’t a huge fan of the chicken salad. I’m used to southern chicken salad, loaded with mayo and veggies, and this was just seasoned, diced chicken. There was very little mayo and it was dying for a thicker sauce and salt! It was so-​so– just not what I expected but not awful once I added salt.
The ambience and service was mediocre. The place wasn’t super clean. Lots of food dropped on the floor. The place really needed to be swept. And our order was wrong. We ordered no veggies on one sandwich and it came with tons of onions on it.
I think the rajun Cajun saved the day though because we will be back for that sandwich!!! 5 stars for that sandwich. Try it. You won’t regret it.

I want to say that the hot sandwiches are made with full justice. They come out with steaming, juicy, saucy fillings which provide a full impact of flavor.
Perhaps the Detonator does not add much dining value to the Rajun Cajun. The former is certainly spicy (not dramatically), but at the same time, it seemed also very salty which is likely brought along with the hot sauce. Not very vege heavy.
It’s certainly a plus that the store is open for lunch when so many in the area are not.

— heated Ruben sandwich: 3.0. Very heated. Would have been even better accompanied by a dill pickle. Will try a different sandwich next time.

SERVICE: 4.0. No mistakes in order. Delivered to table. Was busy, so took about 15 minutes after ordering to receive our food.
AMBIANCE: 3.0. stools with shelves along walls and front window. two tables with chairs in the center of the floor.

Their Rajun Cajun is amazing. The 14 inch is definitely worth it. My coworker and I shared it and still could barely finish it. They weigh all the meat before placing it on your sandwich which is kind of nice because you get an exactly amount of meat each time.
The employees were very friendly, although they did give me and a few other people the wrong order multiple times, but it was all good because they were very apologetic and the food was amazing.

Like so many of the other rave reviews, the Other Coast Café is a superb Ballard sandwich shop and definitely one that doesn’t disappoint. Instead of repeating other Unilocalers comments, I’ll add two other thoughts:
1. The baguette bread is fantastic, toasted or not. The rye is good too as is the multi grain, but the baguette bread (regardless of sandwich), is where it’s at.
2. Crammed tables and seats and a line out the door is completely normal. I’d suggest then getting your food to go, and head up to one of the pubs or bars up the street that allow outside food (e.g. Ballard Beer Company on Market). That way it’s calm, quiet and flexible and you can support two local businesses with the same meal.

My family and I just returned from a trip to Seattle and stopped by The Other Coast Café on our way to the airport. I had the vegetarian hot sandwich and thought it was AMAZING, best veggie sandwich I have ever had. I am not sure if it was the bread or the cheese or what their secret is because it tasted like no other sandwich I have had before– I couldn’t stop eating it, and it is not a small sandwich. My 1 year old kept trying to steal it from me! My husband had their most popular sandwich– the Cajun Turkey and he also said it was equally delicious. I wish I could find a sandwich spot like this in Los Angeles.

Very mediocre sandwich. If you like lots of bread and shredded lettuce, you’ll like these sandwiches. Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. My sandwich wasn’t bad, but it was just ok.
Also, the space is quite dirty. I wonder how they pass the health inspection. And there is very little seating.

I ordered Slim 4, which is turkey sandwich. By far the most bland and tasteless sandwich I ever ate. Just a peace of turkey on cold bread roll. No lettuce, tomatoes or any thing not even a bit of salt and pepper to spice it up a bit. Apparently, the only thing they have is packets of mustard. Customer service is as cold as the sandwich.
Never eating here or at any other Jimmy John’s again!

Easily one of the best sandwich places in Seattle. The wait can be long and prices can be high, but it’s not like you can make this caliber of sandwich in your kitchen. So sit there and read the Stranger and get excited.
I get the Ragin Cajin. spicy and hot and full of turkey. That’s not spelled correctly but you won’t mind after you eat it. The Italian is also fantastic… lots of meat!
While Mammoth in SLU is wonderful (expensive! cough cough), this is a great option.

Nice spot. Kinda pricey, but the meats are really fresh and the toppings are good. Saw the Ragin’ Cajun but quickly upgraded to the Detonator, which is the former’s even spicier cousin. It was tasty! Love the amount of condiment that they slop on there. Not really «spicy-​spicy» for the spice obsessed, but had a nice kick to it.
Beers and Mexican Coke. The baguette is good, but I’d try the sourdough also.
Prices are kinda cray-​cray, but that’s to be expected on the Ballard Avenue. Wish they were just a couple bucks cheaper, but alas that won’t happen in Seattle.
