The Luxe at Meridian

I’ve lived in apartments for many years now and am well out of college. This was the worst experience of my life. We had BED BUGS 2x and my wife was assaulted BY A STRANGER in the elevator (chocked for not unlocking the door) by another female tenant (a police report was filed). They didn’t even kick the other woman out! The day after the assault we were also notified that we weren’t allowed to leave per the conditions of our lease and that if we wanted out we had to speak to the regional manager. It gets better, they refused to give us the regional managers number and we were forced to do our own online detective work.
The assault occurred a month before we left so we were stuck in a building with a loose cannon running around, making my wife afraid to walk the premise.
The BED BUGS ARE EVERYWHERE. We had friends that lived there and they had the bed bug problem as well. The management tried to play it off like it was our fault and get us to pay but when we called the exterminator they told us that they were going to service 5 other units besides ours that day. They will rip you off any chance they can get.
Now that we are out they are trying to get us to double pay for utilities on our last month and pay for cleaning fees far in excess of the norm
Worst mistake of your life, don’t live here.

never ever live in this apartment.
1, before I moved in, they not even finish the cleaning, and refused to clean the carpet and balcony. What’s the fuck, when I moved out they charge my 200 on the cleaning fee.
2, when you give them a 20 days notice of moving out, they charge you extra days of rent on your bill.
3, the office bitch is super rude, never do anything to help you live there, but charge you extra money every time.
4, the parking man gave me a ticket even I have the parking in my car, argue didn’t help at all.

It’s not Perfect — but it’s pretty close. Obviously, living on the same street as Seattle Community College N., there are college kids living here! So you know that before you move in.
I can understand the complaints but they are probably from college age kids who haven’t been living on their own for that long. Management companies are «for profit» businesses who go by the Rules so you have to understand them BEFORE you move in. Be absolutely sure of all charges before you move in and you shouldn’t have any problems.
I have been living here for almost a year now and the new management has been here for just a couple of months longer than me. The maintenance guy is really great and so are the office staff. I love the garbage chutes on every floor and the laundry room on every floor. The storage lockers are only $ 20 bucks a month. Street parking is available or you can pay $ 20 or $ 40(covered) in the building. There are dishwashers, and the pool is great too! There is a barbecue for everyone to use and it is a pet friendly building. Also, I’ve never had a problem with the elevator — so I guess they fixed this problem, I will update if I start to have problems with it.
The Cons:
The Fire Alarms do go off at least once every 6 weeks — always during the day, thank goodness!
It is annoying when people are sitting by the pool after 11:00 pm because you can hear them in your apartment. I have poked my head over the railing and said «can you take it somewhere else» and each time, they left and gave me no problem.
I can’t think of any other cons — I really like it here! Oh and I won a prize for decorations on my balcony at Christmas :-)

I can’t believe its finally over!
My boyfriend lived here in a small studio and after we dated for a while and his lease was up we decided to stay there and move into a bigger space. They charged him a lease breaking fee?! even though we wanted to move in on the first when his lease was up but the bigger apartment was available before the first so we had to move in early, pay about 5 days of prorated rent, and again like i said pay the lease breaking fee so they «waved» the REFUNDABLE, deposit? wow what a deal! now we get to pay for carpet cleaning! Then they rented out our studio and gave us 48 hours to move. no joke, that’s when we knew we had made a HUGE mistake. The elevators didn’t work for part of my move (which is not uncommon, one is usually broken and Ive actually gotten STUCK in an elevator there for about a half hour.
next: THE MOLD. we had such bad mold water would start dripping out of the corner of the ceiling, we called to get it fixed, they came in and bleached the ceiling (i was there watching) and ended up bleaching the carpet!!! (again, we have to pay for carpet cleaning, and each stain, even though their going to have to replace the carpet because THEY BLEACHED IT) back to the mold, it grows on the windows, the ceiling, and all corners of the house. They told me I should turn the heat on very high and open the windows to help get rid of it… when I asked if they were going to help pay for the extra heating bill by me heating an entire house through the winter with the windows open and me not home, the girl chuckled at me. Two months later they contacted us and said their might be a bad mold problem so they would have to come in and fix it… its like DUH I KNOW I ALREADY TALKED TO YOU ABOUT THIS! AGAIN WHAT THE HELL!
next: have fun riding the elevators if they are working, there’s always some dog piss in there from the college kids little dogs, or some vomited up fast food from the kids that drank too much on Saturday night.
next: the fire alarms always go off for no reason, and the stairwell is nasty and not kept up, the pool is heated year round but the heater «breaks» every summer so its freezing during the mild temperated months of the year. Oh, I also got a parking ticket when I have a pass, it fell down because it was broken, they wont talk to you on the phone. My pass fell on my DASH and they wouldn’t call me back because i wanted to see the pictures because it would have been in there, so i had to pay it to avoid the $ 30-​$ 40 additional fee.
People that move out leave all the crap they don’t want stacked against the dumpsters (TVs, beds, dressers, trash, etc.) and its NEVER taken care of, we moved into our new place a week before our lease was up and didn’t go back until the last day, and there was the SAME bed and SAME TV sitting there, and when we left someone had put another small dresser by the stuff! Oh and on our last day someone had thrown there giant TV off of a high balcony, too bad if it would have hit a car though because they hold no responsibility for anything that happens to it even though you pay for your spot!
Dirty, gross, loud, unpleasant, irritating, AND OVER PRICED. Have fun living at the worst place I have ever lived.
I didn’t exaggerate anything I said in this review, everything is 100% something that has happened to me personally.

Good place for kids going to North Seattle.
Other then that I think that it was to expensive for what it is.
We moved in and the first weekend there it flooded the garage and into both elevators. Then the elevators were out of commission for two months. The elevators never seem to be working at the same time. Its always the entire building sharing one elevator.
There were some nice people but there were completely dysfunctional families, frat kids, party kids, and lots of crazy people… all of them screaming at someone about something in the hallway, on the other side of our bedroom wall or right outside our window.
Then you share balconies so if the new neighbor smokes on the deck on 100° days when all the windows are open. Your bed, pillows, couch, clothes and kitchen all smell like cheap cigarettes.
There are lots of dogs so there are some good owners and some bad ones that let their dog pee in the elevator and don’t pick up poop.
There are two maintenance guys and only one of them knows what he’s doing. Tne other one is usless. They don’t keep up on the garbage so the shoot backs up and people start leaving their garbage on the floor in the laundry room.
You have to pay additional for pet and for parking and if you want to choose the freebie route you end up parking in the dirty gravel or on the street.
I have lived in quite a few apartments in Seattle and never experienced anything quite like the Lux, hopefully i never will.

My boyfriend and I moved into a 500 sq ft, one bedroom apartment at The Luxe at Meridian in late summer of 2011 because we only had a short time to look for apartments and this just happened to be the first one that we looked at. Boy, do I regret making such a dumb and hasty decision, because this place is by far the worst apartment that we’ve lived in.
Cons:
1) There are two elevators in this building and one of them is almost always not working. In the event that both elevators are out, you will have to take their very sketchy stairs, which is a big problem for people that are not very mobile, or for people that have to wear heels to work. Having to walk up and down up to 8 flights of stairs really sucks.
2) There is a pet fee of $ 25 every month for one pet, and a $ 25/​month fee or $ 40/​month (for covered spot) fee for parking. Oh and have I mentioned how small these parking spaces are?
3) This apartment stinks. I mean, it literally smells. Our hallways always reek and the one week that it didn’t was because of the overwhelmingly pungent smell of cleaners that was over-​applied to the carpeting.
4) The walls are extremely thin. If your neighbor’s bass is even remotely turned up, you WILL hear it.
5) Speaking of noise, our next door neighbors are EXTREMELY rude and not respectful of us. They always have their bass turned up to 1000%, to the point that our walls would literally shake. We’ve complained to management about 8 times and nothing was done about it. So long story short, the management doesn’t give a shit about your living experience once you’ve signed the lease.
6)There is asbestos in the building and extensive mold and mildew problems. Yes, you read it right– asbestos. Apparently the amount is not high enough to really kill you, but how scary is it to know that you are living with asbestos?
7) There was a pot hole in their main entrance road that went unfixed for months. It became so big that people had to swerve around it to avoid damage to their cars. Again, management didn’t do anything about it for a long time and when they finally did, it was done so badly that it hardly makes a difference.
8) The people. There are some genuinely friend and nice folks who live here, but until three years ago, this place used to be a home to convicted felons and people with criminal records. They claimed to have «cleaned up» the building but it still makes me uneasy to know the tainted history of its residents.
9) If you get packages from UPS or Fedex, you will usually not be notified the day of, but one or two days after the package arrived.
10) Maintenance is relatively useless. After just a month of moving in, the carpeting by our front door was getting loose (I honestly think that they just superglued the carpet on.) After having the maintenance guy «fix» it twice, it still remained problematic (we couldn’t open the door with the carpet being torn up).
Pros:
1) Some of the ladies in the management office are really sweet.
2) Some of the people that live here are really nice.
Maybe this place is perfect for some, as I’ve heard that there are people who have lived here for over 20 years, but it is just not for me. I would caution potential renters to be aware of its problems and not rush into renting an apartment at The Luxe at Meridian.
