The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

It’s hard to believe that there are no reviews for this first-​rate organization! Well, I’m honoured to be the first!
(It should be noted that this organization has moved to a new office at 123 NW 36^th Street, Suite 100, Seattle WA 98 107).
I’ve volunteered for 5 or 6 years now, for thisorganization, by partaking in their annual Light the Night walks at Greenlake. They have helped me so much in raising awareness of blood cancers, and have helped me fundraise for the cure. A few years ago, I planned an outdoor ice cream social, with all proceeds to go toward the LLS. Of course, it was POURING RAIN that day, but still, the main organizer of the WA chapter of the LLS came down to my house to help me out. In the teeming rain. For 3 hours straight. It was truly above and beyond the call of duty. This year I’ve been very discouraged and disappointed in my attempts to raise awareness and funds, but I get sporadic e-​mails from the chapter head, with encouraging words, and telling me how much good the little money I’ve raised will do for people afflicted with these diseases. These are not canned e-​mails. They are personal. These folks know how personal this cause is to me (my two younger sisters died from leukemia), and they are really caring and thoughtful to me — even when I’m not able to raise funds.
This organization does so much to help others, for research, for treatments, for education. The cause is real, and the people here are amazing.
