Good self serve all-​grain shop. Good selection. Good prices. Ask about their prepaid grain deal. Equipment and bull tubing. Knowledgable staff. Wine stuff too.

Hands down the best local home brew store in Seattle. Very knowledge folks working here, and always willing to help. Excellent service, and the grain card program is well worth it.
Highly recommend this location to anyone.

I stopped by here today to pick up some brewing supplies. I was looking for 1 gallon glass jugs for small batch fermentation, and I was glad to see that they sell each for only $ 4.99 (compare this to Amazon, in which the cheapest I could find them for was $ 6.12 w/​o free shipping or $ 9.40 with Prime)! Drilled rubber stoppers were slightly less than $ 1 (varies depending on size; this may not be the best deal, but it’s not going to break the bank so I wouldn’t sweat over it), and 3-​piece airlocks were $ 1.75 each (compare this to 3 for $ 5.99 with Amazon Prime).
Additionally, this store actually has a nice selection of purees and fruit extracts at very reasonable prices (~$ 18 for 3 lbs of fruit purée and ~$ 5 for a bottle of extract). Take a look if you’re interested in adding some fruit flavors to your beer.
In summary, The Cellar Homebrew is a very reasonable place to purchase brewing supplies, especially after comparing prices with those of online vendors. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, and I had a good first-​time experience. If I ever need more supplies, I will stop by here again on my way home from Costco.

Good shop with plenty of products and reasonable prices that compare with amazon. Lots of stuff packed into a small space, I would go here over some of the other shops due to the helpful guy behind the counter, took the time to go over my ideas and set me in the right direction.

I went to this store looking for help on my second batch of brew. They were able to help me with the recipe I had in mind and even helped make a hybrid of 2 recipes I had. They were very helpful and I will be talking all my homebrew needs to The Cellar in the future.

We bought a groupon for the beer class & didn’t have any problems with it. Scheduled in advance, had something come up and rescheduled with no problem. The class was a little wierd because their room is cramped and you there is some legality about brewing beer so they actually never add the yeast… It’s kind of odd because at some point half way through the class you come to «imagination land» where you imagine that the teacher is stirring the pot, etc.
Want to take this class again after my first brew. There is a lot of waiting time while boiling, etc which the teacher used to talk about beer or answer questions from others. Now I have some questions to fill that down time.
The staff is awesome. During our first brew, we probably called them 4 or 5 times over the course of a month. We even picked out a recipe but wanted to use cascade hops in it somehow and the staff tinkered with the recipe to make it userfriendly and to use the hops we wanted. Now we have a delicious, drinkable beer :)
Their matierals are a little on the pricey side but I got my set up off craigslist so I’m cheap.
Also a lot of wine, cheese & vinegar making supplies.

I could not have had a better experience with The Cellar Homebrew! I placed my first order online about a week ago and thought is was strange that it hadn’t been delivered yet. Before I had a chance to call to see what the status of my order was, Josh called to let me know that my package had been returned to them. Without any prompting from me, he offered to personally drop it off at my house on his way home from work. Talk about great customer service… I’ll use Cellar Homebrew again in a heartbeat!

The grain selection is very limited.
They have a pin to ball lock conversion kit, but not a ball to pin lock one.
Their selection of hops was good for both whole leaf and pellet, but they didn’t have Simcoe that I saw. There didn’t appear to be liquid yeast, but they did carry dry. This seemed to be more of a wine and cheese home shop, instead of for homebrewers.
The cost of equipment tends on the more expensive side, and their CO2 swap was $ 25 which is pretty steep.
Now I just moved from Denver, from one of the best Home Brew stores, the Brew Hut, so my husband and I are pretty picky.

In the past I loved this store. Now don’t get me wrong, I still like it, but there are some things that I think have gone downhill a bit. The selection and staff have been great and quite helpful. They have occasionally been out of some items, but that hasn’t affected my recipes much. The prices are very reasonable. The only real problem I have is some of their older equipment. The small mill is extremely inconsistent and has resulted in a different crush on multiple occasions using the same settings. I first started brewing about I recently started brewing again after a 12-​year hiatus, and the small mill was problematic then too. Lastly, though the old scale works alright and is pretty cool, it’s a bit difficult to use for my small batches where exact weights are vital. With a few modern improvements, I would easily give this place a 4 or 5 star rating.

This isn’t the closest home brew store but this is my favorite. I have just gotten started with home brewing and the guys there are awesome at answering all of my rookie questions. The guys really knowledgable and are willing to share — Awesome!
They also have a killer home brew class that my wife got for me from Groupon. I makes the whole process much easier.

I poked my head in one day while waiting on my takeaway order from the dumpling house. I’d driven by repeatedly and figured why not stop in since I was there. I was amazed that it wasn’t simply items for beer and wine, you could also buy supplies to make homemade cider, pop, mead, and liqueurs! They also offer a cheese class here too and sell other herbs and spices in their shop and online. Parking is clearly labeled in front of the shop and I experienced friendly assistance on my sole visit here.

This update is specifically for the hard cheese class. I purchased the Hard Cheese class Groupons for myself and my SO. The instructor, Jessica, seemed super knowledgeable as both a professional and recreational cheesemaker, but this is more of a demonstration of how to start a cheese culture and practical steps for making cheese in a home kitchen before you start aging the cheese. For $ 25, it’s fine. But for the regular price of $ 50, people should be able to take cheese home. I do feel like I learned a lot, enough to start making cheese at home, and the recipe given is essentially Halloumi cheese which is delicious and requires no commitment.
The classroom at Cellar Homebrew, however, really sucks even for a demonstration, and there’s no way the can possibly run a hands-​on cheese class in this space. It’s essentially their packing/​shipping area with some chairs and a table. Seating was really cramped and lacking for the number of people who attended the class, and the doorbell is installed in the back of the store, a.k.a. the classroom area, so the doorbell went off constantly while the store was open. There also seemed to be some electricity issues where the lights would dim as the refrigerator turns on, which you knew by its loud hum. The only water source was the sink by the bathroom (there is no kitchen-​like set up at all), it seems pretty unsanitary and insufficient for whatever beer brewing/​cheese making activity that probably goes on there at a regular basis.
I’d definitely go back to Cellar Homebrew for beer brewing and cheese making supplies, their prices are very reasonable even compared to shopping online.

The hubby and I just went here for a cheesemaking class we got on Groupon. What a fun night! Our instructor James was super nice, helpful and knowledgeable as were all the cheese guru dudes. They have a lot of equipment, tools and cheese starters, all very high quality and at reasonable prices. I am looking forward to taking another class there soon and to having more fun with our cheesemaking. They also had a lot of fun brewing and winemaking equipment. Looks like we might need to get drunk and eat a lot of cheese :)

I first went here knowing next to nothing about how to brew beer. I’ve found these guys to be exceptionally helpful and friendly. I’ve not ventured out into many other beer shops, but I love everything about this place.

Cellar is my favorite homebrew store in the Seattle area. I’ve shopped numerous times at Mountain, Bob’s, Larry’s, and Homebrew heaven. Cellar is my fav because it has enough stock that I can reliably find what I need, the ingredients turn over quickly enough that they are fresh, and the prices are very reasonable.
It is not the prettiest homebrew store in town. It mostly looks like a disaster. But if you’re choosing your homebrew shop based on appearance, your beer probably tastes like Heineken. yuck.
Is it really a 5 star shop? Not really, it’s probably a 4 star. But all the other shops have 5 star averages, so I had to help my fav store out.

This completes my reviews of the 3 homebrew shops I go to (the other two are Bob’s + Mountain). I come to Cellar mainly when I need dry yeast. It’s a further drive than Bob’s, but Bob’s doesn’t normally carry Safale S-​05. Cellar has an excellent selection of dry yeast. They had 7 or 8 varieties I think, including some of the very cheap ones like Nottingham and Munton’s.
Their grain prices are very competitive, and actually slightly cheaper than Bob’s Homebrew on a few things and substantially cheaper than Mountain Homebrew’s grain prices. Cellar also has bulk extract that can give you a slightly better rate on LME.
Their selection of equipment is good, and prices are reasonable. Cellar is where I bought my brewing starter kit, and it’s a good deal — I recommend it for anyone looking to try brewing out.
The guys that work there are active homebrewers just like us, so they know their stuff. They’re very friendly too.
One small thing I don’t like about Cellar is their grain scale. It’s super old and difficult to read and hard to measure weights to an exact ounce.
I don’t know what’s up with the 1-​star review from ‘Seattle F.’ below. The owner said one criticism about a competitor and that means his store sucks? Uh, no.

They have a great supply of all the essentials, and decent prices. That said, if you’re not looking to brew some insane concoction, pretty much all brew supply stores will have you covered with the essentials. They don’t have a very big supply of used bottles or carboys, so I knocked them a star.
However, what sets Cellar apart is 1) the enthusiasm and knowledge of their employees, and 2) Their proximity to very cheap dumplings at Fu Man Dumpling House.

I usually order my winemaking supplies online, but it’s nice to have a local place to go when I need something right away. The staff here is knowledgeable and experienced in either wine or beer making so you can usually rely on someone to have an answer for your questions. They also carry a wide variety of supplies. If you’re looking for a sake or cheesemaking kit, they carry that here, too.

I don’t brew beer, nor am I a wine vintner. But every December I make a kick ass kahlua as holiday presents for family, friends, and co-​workers.
In November I always look on-​line to see if it would be cheaper to have bottles and corks shipped to my home instead of picking them up myself. And — true to form — every December I head to Cellar Homebrew for my bottles and corks.
They have a great selection, and really the best prices around.
While I haven’t used them for brewing or wine making — there is always someone in the store asking, what sounds like, incredibly complicated questions about both. And the people there seem to know the answers — and are incredibly friendly to boot.
