OH Maria! where were you last week. We were so sad to see that you were not open, but we will be back for your pupusa. I will call you the pupusa mama master. She is a sweet lady with a beautiful smile. Makes you feel like home even though you just met her. Apparently her daughter raves about her torta as so I will try that next time… on the side with my stacks of pupusas of course.

I love Maria’s! I was originally a taco truck skeptic but I started going to Maria’s about 6 years ago and absolutely think she’s got the best Taco truck in Seattle. I’ve tried others in south Seattle but they don’t compare in my opinion. Try the Mexican sandwich called a Torta, it has your choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, beans, mayo and avocado. It’s absolutely delicious! Maria knows my usual, A beef torta and 2 tongue Tacos, yeah that’s right beef tongue, it tastes like pot roast it’s so tender.

This is my favorite food vehicle in Seattle. Maria is like a sweet aunt or mother who lovingly makes you a delicious meal from scratch. I am a huge fan of her burritos. They are huge and it’s difficult to finish one. I have tried the beef and chicken, but my favorite is a veggie(substituting avocado for meat). The best part are the grilled onions. She’s also generous with giving you extra salsa, and and it is hot! I crave these burritos regularly. She’s great with substitutions and accommodations, and it takes about 15 minutes for your meal to be prepared, so you know she makes it to order.

This taco truck is pretty cool. It’s a bit different than others in the area due to the owner being from El Salvador, but that also means that you can order excellent pupusas with your tacos. I would go so far as to say that this is the best pupusa I’ve had in the area, besting both El Comal and Guanaco’s. The outside was crispy and the filling was more complex than I’ve experienced elsewhere(not just a mess of pork and beans). The tacos were not quite as exciting, but still satisfying — al pastor was okay, but lengua was pretty good. A bonus is that my plate also included grilled onions, curtido, radishes, pickled carrots, and a big slice of jalapeño. That’s a lot of food for $ 4.50. Two trains passed by while my order was being prepared, which is a lot of waiting for a taco truck. Service is probably faster during busier times when the owner doesn’t have to come out of her house and walk to the truck before taking an order. If you can’t decide between a pupusa and a taco, just go to Tacos Maria/Patzcuaro and get both.

Maria is fantastic and her food is just as fine. Best news for a gringo like me? She speaks perfect English and when I ask for ‘no onions’ or whatever other weirdness I need to feed, she hooks me up right. Pupusas are a delight, tacos are fantastic and the quesadilla with rice and beans is really a hit with the under 5 crowd.

I’ve been going to Maria’s Taco truck for many years now and she never fails to provide the best Spanish dishes I’ve ever eaten! She’s very friendly and her prices are very reasonable! I recommend anything on her menu! My favorite is the Chicken Torta!

I had the pupusas for lunch today. It wasn’t as quick as the other dishes, but that’s because I ordered the pupusas with little cheese. However, when they were finished 20 minutes later, they were fresh and hot. I got two pupusas, and they came with a small side of coleslaw. Maria also gave me a red hot sauce to eat with them; the sauce was tangy and flavorful, and not too hot. Added a good flair to the already outstanding food. I also found it relaxing to sit under the umbrellas, at a table, and watch the Light Rail go by while eating my food.

Can’t say enough about Maria, the food is fresh and quick. She is a real doll too! She is from El Salvadore and her cooking is great, now evertime i make burritos at home I want to run down the hill to get her grilled onions and jalapenos.

I have to say that Maria made the best al pastor torta I’ve had in Seattle. I don’t know what Maria does to her al pastor but it was damn good between some toasty, crusty authentic torta bread. And honestly how could you not love food that comes from a taco truck parked on someone’s front lawn with a plastic picnic table and big non-gay rainbow umbrella attached to it? I mean come on people with that combination it just has to be good. Tacos Maria offers burritos, tacos, tortas, quesadillas, pupusas, carne asada and pollo asado plates. You get your choice of pollo, carnes asada, al pastor, lengua and cabeza and prices range from $ 1.25 for taco’s up to $ 8.50 for the plates but the food is delicious and well worth it. In doing some research about her I found out that Maria decided she wanted to own here own business so she went down to Los Angeles and bought and drove a taco truck up to Washington. I didn’t know this at the time but Maria is from El Salvador so now I want to go back and try her pupusas because I’ve heard they are better than the Salvadorian Bakery. If you are ever driving on MLK and hungry from some tasty Mexican food or maybe a pupusas be sure to pull in to Maria’s front lawn and grab a bite to eat. On a side note, I feel I should go back to all the other taco trucks I’ve visited and remove one star from them just because Tacos Maria was so much better than the others, in my humble Unilocal opinion.
