Sweet Lily Salon Organic Salon and Spa, is located in the heart of the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. At Sweet Lily Organic Salon and Spa, you are the focus. Your haircare and spa needs and desires are our main focus. As one of the few truly organic haircare salons and spas in the Puget Sound area, we take a different approach to hair styling, coloring, and hair care, as well as waxing and other spa services. Lavishing you with luxurious, exclusive, Organic products and extraordinary skill, you will leave with exactly what you came in for, perfect results. Erin R.

Business Owner

Erin Riordan is the owner of Sweet Lily Organic Salon and Spa in Ballard. She is a master stylist and colorist who has been doing hair for 23 years. In Seattle, Erin is known as a pioneer of the organic hair care and skin care movement. She originally served an apprenticeship under the supervision of Allen and LeVonne Curtis, at Tangles Salon, in Vancouver, Washington. She then worked a 4 year turn in New York with some of the top European stylists at the time. She trained in all manners or French and European hair cutting techniques, as well as the latest coloring applications, and wedding styling. Erin has also done extensive work in photo shoot, runway, and modeling productions.

Currently Erin is using her master skills in her salon in Seattle. She has a passion for all things Organic, and only uses Organic hair and skin care products in her salon. She has trained an amazing team of talented staff who share her expertise, and passion for excellence in skill and Organic products.

Guys, ask for Angelo… Has anyone ever approached you at a bar with the greeting «What’s your name guy with the perfect hair?». I owe it to the guy I’ve been going to for almost 10 years now. Angelo is as good as it gets and on the rare occasion that I have to go somewhere else, I am always disappointed. I’ve got that thick hair that often has a mind of its own, which is why having someone like Angelo, who can tell not just how to work with that mess, but how to make sure that it will still look good after it grows out in a few weeks.
And the price… you really can’t beat it. Bang for your buck here is on point!
I know a lot of guys who really don’t bother thinking about their hair and could go to a SuperCuts or have their sister do it. That’s great for them, but if you’re actually looking for a hairstyle that is going to impress and you want to go to someone who knows what their doing, look no further!

Sweet Lily has been a Ballard business for over 10 years, and the owner, Erin, is committed to her local community. The shop is adorable and has recently expanded to included facial treatments and make-​up. The product line is natural and wonderful to use. Stylists are all good – and great to work with. Erin is pretty darn gifted and can whip out a fabulous hair cut in no time. If you live in Ballard, you should definitely check this place out. We are lucky to have sucha high quality and professional small business in our growing Ballard community!

Tara does an excellent job with my color and cut. I came in several years ago with terribly self-​colored, damaged short hair and now my hair is healthy, long and stylish. The organic products they use are gentle on my sensitive scalp. Tara is easy going and I always look forward to chatting during hair time. This place is a hidden gem in Ballard.

Tara Quinn Rocks! I lovvvve the highlights and the cuts she does for me. I’m always open to her suggestions and love the outcome! I feel like a new person! She’s sweet and fun to chat with and I love how easy going she is. I love the salon in general too. The space is nice, I really enjoy the art work they hang and the products love my hair! Go see Tara, she is the best. Always knows exactly what to do and I always leave any hair decisions up to her. She is the best at mixing custom colors to get exactly what you want. She’s the only person I let do my hair! And also go see Angie, her facials are the best, most relaxing hour ever! I highly recommend this salon, Tara and Angie are super friendly and their products are amazing.

I have been seeing Angelo for my hair for about 8 years now. I would follow him to the ends of the earth! Luckily, I only had to follow him to the end of Market St. in Ballard, at the aptly named Sweet Lilly salon. This place is adorable, with a relaxing vibe, cool décor, and if you’re lucky hummingbirds feeding right outside the window.
Angelo is a wizard of the shears, and a genius with the color brush. He always seems to understand what I need and want, is never pushy, open to suggestions. He’s fast, reasonably priced, easy to schedule with and completely personable. If there is a funnier and more charming raconteur in Seattle, I have yet to meet them. Bravo Angelo!

My favorite hairstylist, aka, the «hair god», works at Sweet Lily. I have had my hair under Angelo’s care for about 7 years now and would trust no one else. He does the most amazing job with cut and color. He understands the texture and growth pattern of my hair so he knows how to cut it to a perfect style that works for my hair and looks great on me. He colors my hair to perfection. I love to change it up frequently and Angelo is on the ready with lots of suggestions and creative ideas. Nothing throws him off. I feel so amazing and beautiful when I walk out of there, and it never fails– I get tons of compliments on my hair and people ask my who does my hair. It has really increased my confidence. But wait– here’s the shocker– he has really reasonable prices. So you can afford to be amazing. You will have an amazing hair style and have a fabulous time doing it.

Sweet Lily Salon and Spa in Ballard is well worth the drive from anywhere! If you want organic hair care, color, and hair styling experts, this is the place. AND they have added organic spa services, too! Erin and her staff took great care of my hair, AND their coloring expertise takes 10 years off my «look». Angelo! Angelo! Angelo! is by far my most favorite hair stylist on numerous levels. My color is tricky with a ton of grey roots showing themselves more and more as I get older, plus I like the caramel and dark brown mixed up but natural looking. He nails my color effortlessly and my cut always is perfection. I am a pain I’m sure but, Angelo is extremely patient and a joy to sit and visit with for the couple hours I am there.
He is extremely reasonable price wise and can almost always fit me in within a week.
I have referred almost 10 people I know to him and all love him too.

Just a disclaimer: my experience with Sweet Lily was a little over a year ago, so things may be different now.
First of all, there are some really good things about this salon. They sell environmentally friendly products and make an effort to work with their clients natural hair texture. I have gotten a few excellent hair cuts here in the past, but that being said, I think there needs to be some work on customer service before I’d consider coming back as a client.
I had a unfortunate experience where I booked an appointment and ended up having to cancel the day before because I was very sick with the flu. Now, I know cancellations pose a challenge to businesses, and I felt truly sorry for inconveniencing Erin the owner, but I didn’t want to subject everyone in the salon to my virus. I called as far in advance as possible to reschedule. Erin answered the phone and was very frustrated and brusque with me, stating that she didn’t appreciate my inconsiderate attitude and that she would have to charge me for the appointment regardless of whether I went or not. Needless to say, I was a little taken a back and upset. I pleaded with her and she grudgingly allowed me to cancel without charge.
Since then, I have sought services elsewhere. I will not subject myself to rudeness and poor treatment for the sake of a good haircut.

The owner Erin contacted me after seeing my review and said that she was disappointed that I didn’t have an absolutely amazing experience at her salon and that she would like to make it up to me to make sure I had only the best experience. I made an appointment with her personally (a couple weeks out, she gets booked quickly!) to have my hair re-​dyed. When I came in she had already gone through the file they had for me, in addition to going over my review so that she knew exactly what the problem was. She went over what had happened and why I most likely had the problem of the dye washing out so quickly and gave me options of what she could now do. She also made sure to educate me all about how I would need to take care of the new dye job in order to keep the color longer, since she believes in educating people on how to take care of their hair properly. She definitely knows all about hair as she was able to explain about the hair structure and how dying affects that structure and what that means for future processes. Her apprentice (I didn’t catch her name) was also very nice as I had a conversation with her while she washed and dried my hair. Erin used specific products that would work best for my hair type to keep it healthy and also to keep the dye lasting longer. In addition, they use all organic products which is not only great for the environment but also great for your hair and your health. Erin even explained how some products contain certain additives which can make your hair feel gross and sticky and what to look for and avoid (as I’ve had that problem before). She also made sure to go through the different dye colors with me to know exactly what I wanted. Overall, she was quick and efficient at her job and places a high standard on educating her clients on how to take care of their hair properly. She even gave me the products she used as a gift so that I would be sure to take care of my hair properly. In addition, she mentioned that as a courtesy she would allow me to continue to see her at my previous stylist’s price since I had been a client of that stylist. To conclude, I had a great experience here and would definitely recommend trying out this salon and having Erin educate you all about your hair, how to keep it beautiful and healthy, and how to style your hair without harsh heating appliances. She also really does care about the experience everyone has at her salon, so besides being a great stylist she is also a great salon owner.

Sweet Lily is a pretty sweet salon! Let me tell you why…
1.) Erin is FABULOUS!
2.) They use organic products!
3.) The salon is clean & beautiful! And, it’s soooo close to my house!
I bought a Living Social deal a few months back. And, I really needed to update my ‘do! So, I scheduled an appointment with Erin, knowing she was one of their higher end stylists. The woman who scheduled me made it very clear that they have several different stylists with different stylist fees.
When I went in for my haircut, Erin was very personable, took the time to find out what I wanted, and talked me through everything. I brought in some photos to show her what I was interested in, which I think helped her see my vision.
They use organic products at the salon, which I really appreciate. In an industry laden with chemical products, it’s so nice to know there is a salon I can go to that will only use organic, natural products on me!
You can tell Erin takes great pride in her salon. It’s clean, it’s beautifully decorated, and such a warm, inviting space!

Sweet Lily is the only salon my hair likes!
Erin Riordan is an amazing salon owner and stylist! It has taken me years to find someone who can cut and style my naturally wavy hair to my satisfaction. Erin is warm, friendly and super efficient. Having worked in New York City, she can definitely hook me up in a New York minute! I just recently came in and marveled at the new spa treatment room and was so grateful to the scalp massage prior to my haircut. What an amazing experience overall! Next up is a facial!

Overall good experience! I came in with a groupon and would definitely go back. It is definitely more expensive for a facial than I would normally spend, but the girl did a great job. I didn’t get her name, but I think they only have one so it shouldn’t be too hard.
The only problem was that it took a really long time to get an appointment because I called a few times and they either didn’t call back, or called back a few days later after my schedule had changed already. I also think the only one esthetician thing might have had something to do with it, which is fine because it is such a small place.

I feel that, even though I took advantage of the Groupon deal, I will never get that money back. A trim is not worth the $ 75 that they charged my account — leaving $ 20 on my account for next time. I won’t be back to use that $ 20 because the only thing I could get with that is a cut of a strand of hair.
When I made the appointment I said it was for a birthday that night and I wanted a cut and style. When I sat down and we discussed what she was doing, she said she didn’t have time to do a style. I had to go straight to my OWN birthday party right after this, and she didn’t have «time» to style my hair?!? Even when I specifically mentioned this when making the reservation.
They also booked me with the most expensive stylist. I would understand this if I had been to the salon before and known/​cared who was going to cut my hair. But I would have preferred to save the extra $ 20 with a different stylist (especially if in the end you really did just give me a trim!)
This experience has scarred me for using new salons… ever…without a personal recommendation. If anything, take this as a recommendation… DON’T GO HERE!

After my old stylist closed up shop, I put off getting my hair done for a very long time. I chose Sweet Lily salon for its great Unilocal reviews and I was not disappointed. I called in last minute for a cut and color and Erin fit me in no problem. She and the other stylists were all friendly and seemed to enjoy being there. I was really happy with my hair, having taken the risk to go red. Erin helped me chose the right shade and I’ve gotten lots and lots of compliments.
I love that Erin insists on using organic products. I learned a lot from her while I was there, including how to protect my hair during my upcoming Hawaii trip!
