I don’t know what it is about Stumptown’s mochas… all I know is it’s the best mocha I’ve ever had. It’s not too sweet, not too creamy, not too anything. It’s perfect and people deserve to know! I tried Stumptown for the first time in Portland so when I found out there was a Stumptown in Seattle near me I had to visit. When I received my mocha, it’s like we never parted. It tasted exactly how I remember it. It’s served in a glass rather than a cup eventhough it’s served hot. So good!

Stumptown is a great neighborhood coffee spot they are fast and get the job done when it comes to my iced decaf Americano. I love their coffee and stick it in my house and vacation rentals. Only thing I would recommend is less laptops all day and more seating. It is a great space to take a friend and chat but there are always a lot of people camping and it makes it hard to find a spot inside to sit.

Stumptown has a gorgeous, aesthetically pleasing atmosphere with intricate, expensive art for sale, and Space Oddity on repeat in the wake of Bowie’s passing. The coffee is pricey, but you can’t get a more natural and exquisite cup of brew. A great place to meet with friends.

Great coffee, small space with a few tables, but not really conducive to hanging out on a regular basis.

I am such a fan of Stumptown. Definitely some of the best espresso in town! Always pricey, but you definitely pay for a quality cup every time! I recommend their mochas and their cold brew on tap. Also, awesome study vibes.

My vote is this place is a 4.5 stars. One of the smoothest coffee I’ve had. I’m not that big a coffee snob but I would say this is the place to go if you only had one coffee shop to drop at Seattle. I had a cappuccino and it was legit!

Service was EXTREMELY rude, coffee was alright, very pricey. Only gave it 2 stars because the quiche was good, it would have only been 1. Not a place to go if you’re looking for a good, nice start to your morning.

Forget about coffee. The worst customer service I’ve ever had at any other coffee bars in the west coast. I live near this Stumptown, so I used to go there often to meet up with my friends, but I eventually stopped because of those rude baristas with no smile who have no hospitality whatsoever. On the contrary, the location on 12th Ave is great, so I highly recommend to go that one instead.

I heard from a friend that Stumptown has the best coffee ever(and she’s traveled the world), so the bar was set pretty high. Stumptown lives up to that standard. I got a cappuccino, and it was unlike any other cappuccino I’ve ever had. It didn’t have that kind of bitter taste that most cheap cappuccinos have. It was remarkably smooth, creamy, and well balanced. It was like the milk and espresso were in a celestial harmony. But seriously, Stumptown was fantastic and I highly recommend it if you are looking for the worlds best cappuccino.

If you have sensitivities or a just a disgust around tobacco smoke this might not be the best place for you. Stumptown fills with smoke when even a couple of people are outside smoking in front of Rudys. Beware. Also this morning I’d have to say I’m not super excited about my lukewarm 12 oz mocha for $ 5.50, not including tip. Perhaps I’ll be sticking to the Stumptown on 12th.

They have FANTASTIC coffee here at Stumptown. I love Stumptown coffee, and would drink it all the time if it weren’t for the fact that I have tried three times now to redeem a full punch card, and three times now have had the person at the counter act shocked that it is filled and then hand it back to me, along with a brand new punch card, to use«next time.» There will be no next time. Your coffee is not worth the«Seattle attitude» the staff there has, not when I can go literally anywhere else and get better service.

I moved away from Seattle in 2009 and this is the place I miss the most. I used to live a few steps from this Stumptown. Every morning I would stop by to grab a cappuccino and a sourdough baguette or rosemary roll. I know every barista at this location and they would let me know which days they are going to have the fancy French press. Now let me tell you why this place is awesome. 1. Impeccable coffee, both in roasting and the actual preparation. 2. Great selection of pastry(I don’t know if Capitol Hill got a real bakery in recent years, but I think Stumptown had the best pastry at the time) 3. Super friendly baristas 4. Tasteful music, as in they do spend time curating their playlist. 5. Great speaker system(Paradigm speaker with Macintosh amps) 6. Free New York Times newspaper daily 7. Stable Wifi + power outlet at most tables 8. Clean bathroom and the key is attached to a rubber duck If I ever move back to Seattle I would want to live by this Stumptown again.

Stumptown’s cold brew coffee is sure to perk you up. We arrived in Seattle in the afternoon, grabbed some lunch at the airport, checked in to our AirBnB, and hit the ground running. In order to do so, we needed coffee! To the natives, do not take these coffee shops for granted. There is an independent coffee shop(and a GOOD one at that) on almost every block, especially in Capitol Hill. In Chicago, it’s Starbucks, Dunkin’, and McDonald’s — lather, rinse, repeat. The lighting in here was a little dark and dreary, but the music playing was fun and danceable. Aside from the two of us, everyone in here was working or studying. The menu isn’t full of frou-frou lattes, but you are guaranteed a good coffee, espresso, latte, or cold brew.

This coffee shop made me feel like I was back in New York. It was a smaller space(like most NYC coffee shops) and definitely delivered a solid espresso. Pros: * counter seating by windows = always a joy for me * complementary sparkling water with espressos! * espresso was delightful — I only added a small drop of honey * the general atmosphere and ambiance was very conducive to productivity, if you’re into that kind of thing. I sat on my laptop there for hours. * conveniently located right off the 10, 11, and 49 buses. * Cute custom espresso cups Cons: * smallish space, but I had no trouble finding a seat * baristas were competent but acted bored. Not quite unfriendly, just uninterested.(This contributed to the NYC vibes)

We tried the cold brew coffee with chocolate milk over ice. We were surprised that the coffee actually tasted like chocolate milk with a jolt.

As the quest for Seattle’s best cup of coffee continues, I ended up at Stumptown on a Sunday afternoon to get some work done. The place itself isn’t very big, but its 8 tables and sufficient outlets is set up pretty well for coffee shop enthusiasts like me who like to camp out at a café for hours at a time. I ordered a plain latte, which is my drink of choice when comparing coffee shops. Stumptown definitely lives up its reputation, as the latte was masterfully crafted with full flavor and creaminess. The crowd is definitely Capitol Hill-esque – young, hipster, Apple gadgets in hand. It’s nice to look up from my laptop once in a while to people watch. The baristas are friendly and there is an array of Stumptown roast and merchandise if that’s your thing. The music selection is interesting and not what I would typically associate with a coffee shop. Whatever, I’ll let Stumptown do its thing!

To preface, I am/used to be one of those social coffee drinkers that never immensely enjoyed the taste of coffee of any sort and went to coffee shops purely for the hipster feel while catching up with friends or finishing work. My very brief visit at Stumptown has made me realize on all the caffeinated goodness I’ve been missing out for the better half of my life. I ordered a soy latte. I tasted nothing but pure coffee exquisitely put together with milk, and it was absolutely delicious. Not sure how else to describe it, but even non-coffee drinkers could appreciate good coffee when they have one. Starbucks will now forever pale in comparison and I can’t wait to be back in the city to have a cup of coffee at Stumptown.

Delicious iced latte. Quick service, but my impression is they don’t appreciate you placing an order that sounds anything like what Starbucks serves. So before you go in, know what you want. Practice saying it even and leave anything that sounds like tall, grande, venti or caramel out of it. Seeing from the other reviews, I’m not the only one sensing the customer service isn’t their strong point. In the future, for a better all-around experience, I’ll probably go to the next block for my caffeine fix. Plenty of seating. Higher prices than others, but again, delicious iced latte.

My recent trip to Seattle was for the coffee. I ordered their cold brew and was impressed by the taste and flavors. Usually, iced coffees are pretty diluted and disappointing but the cold brew here was great. Luckily, Whole Foods sells bottled versions in California where I’m from. I took a star off due to the customer service and higher prices than what I’m used to paying back home for coffee.
