History
Established in 2010.
Melanie started providing guitar guitar lessons from her art studio in Minneapolis, MN about a decade ago. The more students she taught, the more she fell in love with the occupation. As her experience, skills and knowledge in the guitar field grew, so did the desire to grow what was a small, side gig, into a full-time occupation.
In 2007 Melanie relocated to Seattle, WA and continued teaching guitar as a part-time, side job. In 2010, it became evident that creating a guitar lesson studio was her passion and aim.
String Lark Lessons was created and continues to thrive and grow as a licensed business in the Seattle area. It originated in the Delridge neighborhood of West Seattle and now operates in Rainier Valley, South Seattle. Private instruction and group classes are provided.
Meet the Business Owner
Melanie M.
Business Owner
Turning my passion for music into a career is a dream come true. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to teach what I’ve learned to people, who also know, there is something really special about playing an instrument.
I started teaching myself the guitar as a child and am primarily self-taught. Taking piano lessons, violin lessons, studying music in school and in choirs, bands, and orchestras all contributed to a solid foundation in music and theory.
Later in life I studied jazz guitar and more advanced theory as applied to guitar under well-respected instructors such as Jim Ouska and Ryan Hoffman. Before moving to Seattle in 2007, I attended the West Bank School of Music in Minnesota. I have been playing guitar for 17 years now, and began making guitar and vocal recordings, along with performing at various venues and events throughout the past 10 years. I started providing lessons over 5 years ago. Providing guitar instruction is now my full-time occupation.
