Stratford at Maple Leaf

My elderly friend and many of her neighbors needed to find new apartments after living many years in another assisted living place that decided to change to a younger crowd. The whole building was in a state of shock. After visiting several places we luckily found The Stratford. As she says, «It’s beautiful!» She loves her new apartment and all of the staff and current residents have been friendly and helpful to these new residents. As she needs additional care we will be able to add to her care plan and it is a relief to know she can live her last years here, with qualified nursing staff present. All of her family also like it better then her previous place. I’ve visited daily for the last two months and there isn’t anything about the place I haven’t liked!

My dad was a resident at The Stratford for 4 months… well not quite. The last month he paid rent there but was in the Swedish Hospital and then a nursing home due to injuries and lack of care at the Stratford.
THey have had many investigations by DSHS Residential Care and have had fines and were found in non-​compliance of state licensing regulations.
I would never recommend this place… it’s heart breaking to see the care the elderly receive there.

Licensed nurses, 24 hrs care staff, diabetic care management, including sliding scale insulin management, strategic partnerships with UW Long Term Medicine — these are all part of living at the Stratford. They offer a continuum of care — Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care all under one roof that keep residents feeling at home and not worrying about moving out because their care level changes after a surgery or hospital visit. When there is a problem Marika and her staff listen and always look for a solution that will work for the resident and family.
My mom was bouncing around last year. She was nursing/​rehab, then an adult family home. She was not happy because she did not have her own space for family/​friends to visit and her furniture and possessions around her. My mom has been at the Stratford for one wonderful year now. She is happier and healthier than ever. She is on a 2 hour bed check and turning schedule like in a nursing home. They have a 24 hr. call system that summons the CNA. She can also call the front desk for assistance from the Concierge 8am to 8pm.
My mom does not need memory care — she simply can’t walk because she is crippled from arthritis and spends most of her time in bed. She loves watching the cars on Lake City Way. They the only assisted living in Seattle that will do a 2 person total assist transfer. They do everything for her from meals, grooming, medication — all in her room. The nurses manage her medication including narcotics. UW Long Term Care Steve Felton ARNP who comes into the Stratford to see her. So that is one less appointment she has to leave home for and they can keep a tighter watch on infections that come up fast. I highly recommend the Stratford Assisted Living for your elderly parent or family member.
