At first, this place appeared to be an average barber in our neighborhood, but after having been here for a few times, I feel like it can be a 5-star. You get high quality and timely service at a good price. It is not a super fancy hair salon, but it serves my purpose. Staff are friendly and socialize politely. All, the reasons why I keep coming back.

I’ve been going here about 2 years, fairly regularly. Only 3 or 4 total staff, so you may have to wait a bit, or come at off-peak hours. And yes, they do cost a little more than the chains. However, they are far, far better than the service you would get at any chain. I’ve had my hair cut by each of them. They are all very experienced and professional, take their time to get it right, and are all very nice.

Francisco was awesome he did a great job cutting my hair. He was very friendly and made sure I got the cut I wanted by asking specific questions. Thanks Starline

Francisco and the other gentleman are great! However, if you go in and the female barber is working, take a pass. She is not a great hairdresser. Very bad in fact. My husband and son will check out another place next time.

I’ve been coming to Starline for about a year now, and I’ve consistently had a great experience every time. The shop is run by Francisco, a really nice guy who also happens to be a great barber. He has a couple of people working with him, and they do a nice job as well. I always feel like I get a deluxe experience when I come here. The shop is clean, the waiting area is full of magazines, and there is a nice-sized TV for watching everything from CNBC to the Olympics. After the haircut, they always vacuum you(the best part!) so you’re nice and clean to continue on with your day. I don’t ever feel itchy or that I need to take a shower right away after coming here. It’s a good place to get your haircut, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I brought my son today who absolutely hates his hair cut. Fransico was fast and unphased by my crying toddler. I will be coming back!

I needed a new place to get a haircut(since the one I’d been going to downtown near work had raised their prices three times in two years) and found Starline on Unilocal. It was great! Francisco knew exactly what kind of cut I was looking for, and at a great price(and he’s funny, too). I love the look of the place as well. Old style barbershop. Very cool. The customer after me(I was first of the day) had been going there since he was a kid, before Francisco bought it. That’s got to tell you something about the consistency of the business.

Fantastic haircuts at a very nice price! Well worth the 2 minute drive up from U Village! Original old school barber chairs and cashier from previous barber of 48 years. They’re carrying on a tradition at Starline!

I’ve been having Francisco cut my hair for several years now and have been consistently happy with the result. There’s no hit and miss when he picks up the scissors. He listens to what you want and delivers. Aside from his expertise, Francisco is always pleasant to me, greeting me with«hi Denis» and then sincerely being inquisitive about what I’ve been up to. He’s simply a good guy who gives great haircuts. Also, for me, spending my money with local, neighborhood businesses is the right thing to do. So adding up all the pluses, I give Francisco and Starline Barber Shop a thumbs up. Make that two thumbs up.

First time Unilocal poster — motivated to post by seeing a couple of negative reviews which do not jibe with my experience. I’ve been taking myself and my kids to Francisco ever since they opened up 4 years ago, and have loved the service. Fast, inexpensive, good haircuts. They handle my children very well. I’m a big fan.

I REALLY find the recent poor reviews hard to believe. I’ve been coming here for a couple of years and it’s the only place I bring my kids. In fact, I was just checking Unilocal for the Starline phone number to check and see that they were open today for a trim. Every time we visit I see professionalism, kindness, and patience with a very squiggly kid. I also find it suspicious when someone posts something negative and they only have one or two reviews on Unilocal

We found the owner, Francisco, and his friend, rude on more than one occasion. They are both moody and self-centered. It is not a great place for a kids haircut. And it is too bad for a neighborhood barber to not be kind to its customers and offer good haircuts. Go to Epic Salon nearby where one of the barbers from Starline moved to to open her own place.

Very unprofessional. The worst experience I have ever had with a hairdresser/barber. I have never been treated in such a disrespectful manner. Too bad, because Francisco was great, courteous and willing to hear what I wanted. This guy lost his temper and I was in shock. I hurried to get out of there. Would not take my children to him.

Starline Barber Shop is just down the street from my house and because it had already received such great reviews on Unilocal I decided I would check it out. Positives: — No appointment required(in fact I don’t think they take them). — Big TV in front of the chairs — You face the mirror AND the television so you can actually see what’s going on the whole time. — $ 18 is a reasonable price point — Very comfortable chair. — Francisco was very friendly and gave a great hair cut. — Overall ambiance is very cool — and old time vibe with the right amount of modern design. Negatives: — Jerry Springer was on the TV when I arrived, which I thought was a little tacky. I did not ask for a channel change, though I’m sure he would have done it upon request. — Relatively small number of products available for purchase. I tend to buy my hair care products at the grocery store anyway, but it is always good to see a wide variety of items. Overall, very high marks to a great neighborhood barbershop.

I have a bouncing, twirling, jumping boy who could not stay still for a haircut if his lil life depended on it. His last two haircuts performed elsewhere he was miserable and throwing a fit. Today, he got a great cut from a very patient stylist. We will only be going here form now on. Thank you!

Love this place! They spend enoughf time on my kids’ heads, but keep them entertained by patiently talking to them or listening to them read books. Great old guys giving out cheap, nice haircuts for kids. We never went to the place with the previous ownership, but now this is our go-to kids’ salon.

I’ve probably referred about 30 new clients to Francisco’s barber shop. Here’s why: great haircuts, reasonable pricing, FANTASTIC with kids. My daughters actually ask me to take them there. Miracle! When my parents are in town, they go to Starline. It’s an old barber shop that Francisco renovated, yet left the wonderful 80 year old barber chairs.
