Specialty Eyecare Centre

This was my 2^nd visit with Dr. Silvia McKevitt in 2 years; first in Bellevue, this one in Seattle in the Cabrini Tower. The first time was for (finally) getting my chalazia and/​or stys checked out. Back then, I decided to try her recommendation of trying warm compresses, baby shampoo, and some pads to help remedy them…
…I’ve determined that, for my case, these are merely preventative measures for possible worsening conditions — -not actually helping them reduce in size (they’ve constantly drained many times of varying volumes — but no reduction occured in the bumps themselves). I. Want. These. Motherfu*king. Bumps. Out! BEGONE FROM MY EYES YOU DISGUSTING PIECES OF PUSS!
Today, I wanted to find out about the procedures to remove them. She told me I’d get local anesthesia to the lid then cut a small incision for the big boy, and then flip up the lid for the party of small ones. That’s the common way for adults she says, while kids usually get the general. I can’t imagine what it’d be like seeing all that crap coming over my eyes with just local… let alone another needle to the lid (i had a flare up years ago, and I swear, the lady who stuck the needle in my lid at the Valley Med ER didn’t even numb it first — -my body shot into a state of sweat and every mirror cracked). That’s why I’m seriously considering getting general (cross fingers my insurance will cover it).
She seems like a great doctor, but if there’s ANYTHING I never want to hear from doctors, is «…you know.» When I first heard that phrase… I was pissed. I was really hoping she’d have answers for all of my questions — if she didn’t, then she could’ve recommended people/​resources for me, instead of «you know» 1 – 3 times. She even *fucking gasp* managed an «I don’t even know what to say.» (not sure verbatim, but pretty close to it). Most of the time, I really felt like she wasn’t really interested in hearing what I had to say… and yet, I think that is the most important thing for patients: a doctor interested in what you have to say.
