Came here again early January after my cat started having non stop seizures lasting more than 10 minutes each.
I called panicking on what to do. Was told
Go drive over immediately. When I got there, they knew we were coming and ushered us in. Immediately my cat was taken into the back and they put her on an IV. The vet came in and informed us that our cat must have gotten into something toxic. She gave us an estimate of $ 800-​$ 900 for all the testing and care. Of course that number was scary and overwhelming. I’m sure she saw how terrified we were and brought care credit to our attention. So obviously we had to sign up. We were also lucky we came in during regular business hours versus emergency hours = emergency prices.
They ended up keeping our cat overnight. It was a little weird that no one called us the next day to give us an update. Finally we called, and were told to come in right away to meet with the vet. THIS is definitely not what you want to hear when you are terrified about your pet’s well being. We got there in 10 minutes and no one updates us. Finally the receptionist asks if we have her carrier cause she can go home. *sigh of relief*
We spoke to the vet who told us that me may not know if she has these seizures again, but it definitely looked like a toxic substance was in her system. To top it all off, we paid $ 200 less than our quote! My cat is completely normal now, and we are especially keeping an eye on anything she could get into.
I also recommend carecredit for those overwhelmed by a quote. Carecredit does not add interest for 6 months for charges over $ 500(?) and 12 months for charges over $ 1000. Such a life saver.

One star only because I can’t give zero. I will never, ever go back to this vet. I took my two small dogs in to have their anal glans expressed and their nails trimmed. I had heard about the great price and wanted to check it out. But you truly so get what you pay for! Both my dogs had ragged nails — some too short and others still too long. One got scared during the procedure. I could tell because he still reeked of the gland fluid. And to top it all off, the price was more then expected because my dogs were considered «large» since they are over 20 lbs. they are both French Bulldogs and no one would call them large. I will never, ever return.

I wrote a long review of this «Hospital» after we took our Corgi puppy there after she got into my Vit-​D pills. I guess it was too negative to be posted. All I am seeing is the positive here. My friend also wrote a review that is not showing up of her experience.
I guess I’ll keep it short this time and say… never again and if you do go there… act like you hate your animal it may save you some money… acting like you are really concerned about them cost big $$$$$$ for little done.

I’ve come here due to my friend who’s friend who used to work here (if that makes sense – what a complicated sentence that was). Ever since I got a 9 week old German Shepherd puppy, we’ve had him get his vaccinations here, get his manhood chopped off (sorry baby), came here for variety of injuries the puppies gained while he grew up, and even took my 9 year old cat here for her vaccinations and illnesses that she’s had over the years. And every experience was great.
The staff was always friendly. The doctors were amazing at their job. Though every visit is over $ 100, it’s quite cheaper than the previous vets that I’ve visited before. And I hear that this vet accepts almost all pet insurance (which I’m considering since my cat is an old lady now and has developed some health issues).
They don’t harass people by saying «we recommend this test» or that test like other vets did to me and later on, I find out that nothing was wrong with my furbabies. These people are legit and straight up.
They tell you what they need to do to diagnose your pet’s illness. They straight up call you out if you ignored your pets injury for a week or two and tell you that you should’ve brought them in earlier – and now it’s worse (happened to me couple of times-​and I appreciate it because I learned). They tell you how much everything is – and if the final bill is higher than their estimate, they will put some discounts on there on certain things so it’s closer to the original estimate.
But it does get expensive. C’mon I make less than teachers. And I have two pets whom I adore. They’re my kids, my world, my joy. So get a pet insurance.
Also this place is a hospital. Open ²⁴⁄₇ which I like because if you have an emergency, you just walk in and whoever is more urgent, they will take that pet in before the others which I appreciate. (They did that once I came in for a minor thing and it took a while, and they explained they had an emergency – and by all means I really do appreciate that they care and try to save an animal that’s in need!)
Also they don’t take appointments which was odd at first, but became convenient because I can just show up whenever I’m available, and meet the docs. I believe there’s 3 doc’s total (I’ve only seen 3 doc’s and I’ve been going here for over a year).
The place is clean, the staff is nice and helpful, and yes it does get expensive but it’s cheaper compared to the other vets and the staff actually cares for the animals. They don’t harass you to purchase dumb things that they have to make more money. They genuinely care.
Highly recommend this place.

My girl recently gave birth this week to 3 tiny pups via emergency c section. I was worried that she wasn’t showing any signs of going into labor and she was well past her due date. I went in on Tuesday evening for a quick check up and expected to pay at least $ 200-​$ 300 for an X-​ray, but I ended up paying just $ 98 even, which was great! It turned out the pups were too big to be delivered naturally. Dr. Gueringer was so kind and happy to be of help! She quoted the c section at $ 900 and that’s exactly what I paid for the following morning. Dr. Goraya performed the surgery and did such an amazing job with the incision it’s hardly noticeable on Lucy. Prior to the surgery, I had called around to different veterinary offices asking the price range for emergency c sections and the majority of them were at LEAST $ 2,000-$ 3,500! Thank God for SSVH! Mom and babies are doing extremely well! :)
* note: this wasn’t my first time here as I have an older 14 year old dog. each time I am here they make sure to do thorough exams and take their time. they are of reasonable price and being open 24 hours is even better. The new office is so comfortable and always sanitized. Highly recommended.

This place came recommended by a friend. They WILL NOT treat your animal, even if dying, unless you pay 50% up front and will not release your animal until you finish paying the other half. Abby is a service dog for my child. We have new credit after new identities for safety. I do not qualify for Care Credit w new credit. I am in Healthcare and we even accept payments. Our dog may die due to swallowing a lick or 2 of antifreeze, & us being turned down to have her be examined. I said our prayers & now wait for our kinder Vet to open in a.m. Hold on Abby! Don’t waste your time on this ER unless you have good credit &/​or won the Powerball lottery.

I just posted a positive review about BluePearl Emergency Veterinary Partners in Renton — I would give BluePearl 6 stars if it was possible, especially in contrast with the HORRID experience I’d previously had with South Seattle Vet Hospital. Read my Blue Pearl review for yourself:
After having a really horrible experience at a different Emergency Vet (I won’t name them, but it rhymes with South Seattle Veterinary Hospital) I was a little nervous about taking my girlfriend’s beloved Pomeranian «Mookie» here when he re-​experienced Patellar Luxation. At the previous vet last year, they charged us around $ 400 and recommended immediate surgery (approx. $ 2−3k from what I recall?) and put the poor little guy on pain meds which made him vomit. Here at BluePearl it was a completely different experience from the moment we walked in the door! Where previously I felt like a number and a bank account, I now felt compassion and humor. The receptionist was immediately interested and engaged, and within a matter of moments a triage nurse had evaluated Mookie. Moments later we were in an exam room with one of the coolest vet’s I’ve ever met (wish I remembered her name!) who took the time to explain what Mookie’s condition meant (Patellar Luxation) and then talked me through a number of options. She was smart, funny, and adorkable. (If only I were single and 20 years younger!!!) Anyway, the punchline to the whole experience was that BluePearl did not charge me a DIME for the fantastic service. I would recommend them to anyone that has a pet that needs care, and not necessarily just for emergency visits.
Oh, and to top off the evening, I discovered the band «Killing Joke» while listening to iTunes on the drive home. Check them out if you get a chance!!! ;)

I am SO grateful for South Seattle Veterinary Hospital, the wonderful staff, and Dr. Goraya today! I woke up to our older dog with a dry cough and gag with no vomit around 5 a.m., and discovered our 2 pups split a 2 oz. dark chocolate bar (with most of the foil wrapper) I absent-​mindedly left in my stocking on the coffee table while we were out visiting friends Christmas night. Long story, but we assumed the dogs ate the chocolate between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
After being advised by veterinary poison control over the phone to take the dogs in to be evaluated as this may be nausea, a sign of chocolate toxicity, we rushed them over to South Seattle Veterinary Hospital to see what could be done so late in the game. At this point we assumed it was 6 — 8 hours post ingestion, and past the window of trying to get the dogs to vomit the chocolate.
We made it to the hospital around 6:15 a.m., and had to call the desk to be let into the facility, which I completely agree with for safety during the night hours. The front staff (a blonde woman) was kind and knowledgable. In my haze, I did not get her name, but I am very grateful for her patience. She advised us to wait until 7 a.m. for the day doctor so we didn’t have to pay a $ 50 fee per dog since our dogs weren’t showing any other signs of health problems at that point, and my older dog’s cough seemed to disappear on the way to the vet. The facility has a «free first visit» policy between the hours of 7 a.m. and midnight, and waiting a little longer saved us $ 100. I have no doubt that if we really needed to see the doctor right then, she wouldn’t have recommended the delay.
We saw Dr. Goraya at 7:15 a.m. after she was finished rounding on the animals staying overnight. Her «bedside» demeanor and calm presence put me at ease right away. She evaluated our dogs, got a thorough history without judgement, humored me in a very sweet way when I told her that I got urine samples if she needed them (I’m an ICU nurse for adults, and it seemed logical in my panic — It’s hilarious now btw — derp), and gave us her medical opinion in a way that made my fiancé confident in her knowledge and advice.
Since the dogs weren’t showing any signs or symptoms of toxicity (the older dog’s hacking stopped of course) and their vitals were normal, she gave us the options to run blood work and perform an x-​ray of the older dog since we think he may have ingested the tin foil wrapper. With her guidance, we skipped the blood work and ran the x-​ray, which took maybe 10 minutes to get results. After an «all clear,» she gave us a list of signs and symptoms to look for in case any issues came up over the next few hours, but mostly put our minds at ease that our dogs were going to be OK. The whole visit cost $ 98 for the x-​ray. I was expecting at least a $ 500 bill to start us off, and applied for care credit while waiting to see the doctor, which I didn’t have to use at all.
As for the facility, it’s a very new building. Everything was clean and well sanitized. There was plenty of parking, and the waiting area and exam rooms were really nice.
There was a new front desk tech when we left, and she was just as nice as the first staff member we met. I felt valued and as if the staff and Dr. Goraya were genuinely concerned about the well-​being of our dogs. I can’t say enough good things about this place!
We were looking for a vet in Seattle as we are newer to the area, and now we have found our vet home. I’m looking forward to taking our dogs back for a «well» annual check-​up and teeth cleaning very soon. BTW, the little thieves are fine. :)

I absolutely hate this place and I tell everyone I know to skip this monstrosity of a vet.
I brought my dog into the emergency after he lost function of his back legs.
The option was for a $ 7,000 surgery or to put him down… unfortunately his post-​surgery quality of life would not have justified the surgery, and I made the difficult decision to put my dog to sleep.
Or at least I tried to.
The vet who was my dogs Dr said ‘so you want to put him down?’ And I said ‘no, I don’t WANT to, but I feel like it’s in his best interests.‘
He continued to push more steroids and surgery, but my pup had zero feeling or reaction in his legs. No pain, no nothing, no use.
Ultimately, I spent nearly $ 1k, but it was nothing compared to how rude and pushy the majority of the staff was. If I felt like they genuinely cared, the money wouldn’t have bothered me. And I’m not one of those people who blame the vet for my dogs medical problems.
The vet who actually administered the medication to put him to sleep was wonderful. It’s why this review gets 2 stars. He was gentle in speech, calm and caring.
He also made sure any fees I had were paid before the procedure, so I didn’t have to prolong the situation.
He expressed sympathy, but was the only one.
As I was leaving, the front desk lady ignored me, until I held the door open for my mom, who was carrying the empty kennel. She then rudely told me I need to keep the door shut.
I’ve never been back, and I’ve made sure to tell everyone about this experience.

Unhappy customer. Vet aggressively pushed unnecessary services for my dying cat. Didn’t feel the exam was very thorough and it was frustrating haggling prices for services when we had brought him there to let him die peacefully. Ended up paying over 400 $ to hopefully buy him some time. He died 2 days later anyway. Would not recommend.

A heartfelt thank you to Doctor Goraya for saving my little dog’s leg. He had thought he would have to amputate but found that he could save her leg. He made that decision while operating on Gigi and I appreciate him doing what he felt was right for Gigi. An amputation would have been far easier and only a 2 week recovery versus a three months recovery for a broken leg surgery. But I am thrilled that he was able to save her leg. Doctor Goraya has always been very nice and is an extremely competent vet. I appreciate that this is a 24 hour vet only 15 minutes from my home. Having three dogs I have had to use them on numerous emergency visits. I believe they are lower in price than a lot of the surrounding vets in Burien.
A special compliment to Price who is an assistant there. He really stood out there at the clinic as such a friendly, helpful and patient employee. It isn’t very easy getting bad news about your pet and not much fun to have to charge almost three thousand dollars on your credit card especially at Christmas time. It helped to have a friendly face and a helping hand in getting my dog to the car. He took the time to talk to me and made me feel better about this major surgery and helped me think positively about my dog’s 3 month long recovery. He has an extremely friendly and positive personality and customer service seems to come very natural to him. It seems common practice these days for an employee to be dismissive and curt to a customer and just do their job and not go above and beyond. I feel South Seattle Vet is very lucky to have Price as an employee. I wish there were more like him.

We took our cat to SS Vet Hospital when we were worried about her weight. She was rapidly loosing weight and we were certain she had diabetes. After a 12 hour watch at SS Vet, blood work and exam, results came back that she was indeed diabetic. We chatted with three different Vet’s at the hospital, all three were helpful, kind and easy to work with. Dr. Hughes (?) was very knowledgeable and she spent quite a bit of time going over our cats lab results and what we should be expecting for her care. I am not a 5 star person — so I rate this clinic a three star. Our time here wasn’t perfect (what Drs. office is!?), but they did help us and our cat, so I am very thankful for that. This place is just fine if you’re looking for affordable and good care for your animal.

Long time reader, first time reviewer. I’ve read Unilocal reviews for years — had good and bad experiences — but none of them were so powerful as to prompt me to actually write a review. That was until I got home at South Seattle Vet.
I’ll be short about it, because I feel I need to spread the news. Brought my dog in for what seemed like a partially obstructed airway (which she then managed to clear on her own just as I got to the front of the line, ewwww). After she vomited on the floor, still thought it was a good idea to see the vet. Doc comes in and immediately recommends Xray (fine).
They then keep my dog in the back for about ten minutes. When the doctor comes to get me (dog remains in back) he tells me that my dog «has a lot of gas» and should stay overnight for a full treatment of fluids and blood work. My spidey senses went up and I smelled a scam. I asked if I could see my dog, he said that she was vomiting in the back and really needed these fluids. I said I wanted to sit with her for a bit in the back then, but was told that wasn’t possible. So I said I wanted my dog back and I would call my husband to talk about the fluids/​overnight stay. Dog is brought back to me and she is happy, tail wagging, and full of energy. Hardly seems like a dog that needs to be kept overnight.
Brought her home where she is now able to eat and drink fine (she could not get down food or water earlier in the day) — proving her problem had been solved. She is happily curled up at my feet and sleeping soundly. There was no need for an overnight visit with fluids and bloodwork. Reading the other reviews (including filtered) confirmed that this is the «standard» treatment for emergency visits.
So, BEWARE OF THE SCAM OF THE OVERNIGHT STAY!!!

I brought my dog in a couple of weeks ago, and Dr Goraya saw and diagnosed her almost immediately, then confirmed the diagnosis with X-​rays. He was very caring and explained everything they would have to do for the emergency surgery in detail, as well as went over the costs of everything very openly. My pup had to stay over night, and had a long two week recovery, but received a clean bill of health today.
Every time I come to south Seattle vet all of the employees are extremely nice and helpful and they’ve always taken very good care of my dog and I can’t imagine going any where else and paying twice as much for the same services.
Highly recommend!

I called late night to get information to bring my dog in. I was freaking out and had called every place I could.
The lady that answered was VERY RUDE!
I don’t understand how do many VETERINARIAN CLINICS come off so money hungry.
1^st off Don’t put coupons on your site and not be specific as to when they can be used.
2^nd.NEVER tell someone that’s disabled and broke that if they can’t pay, you won’t give there dog back.
3^rd and MOST IMPORTANT, COMPASSIONATE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING…
O yes SHOUT OUT TO CARE CREDIT… I can take my Bells wherever I want and feel comfortable.

I would first just like to say I am very appreciative of even having a reliable 24 hour vet around.
With that being said though, this place is pretty average and did not leave me very impressed. I took my 2 yr old dog here a few nights ago with extreme stomach pains around 8:30/9 PM. The staff was generally nice, but short with answers and not exactly welcoming.
I waited about 45 minutes to see the vet since there is was only one on staff (unsure if that is normal or not) and she greeted me well but I expected a bit more with interaction with my dog.
Ultimately felt like although her suggested options I could chose to treat my dog had good intent, but very poor in explaining why so I didn’t walk away feeling confident I chose the right option and not wasting money. (A plus though –they will not charge you for the visit if its your first time there)
I am also disappointed that it’s been a few days and no vet has bothered to call and follow up from our visit. Maybe it’s just a set expectation I have based off of our other vet, but a let down none the less.

Never go to this horrible place!
I went in with my 15 year old dog who was attacked and had an EXCESSIVE bite behind the ear. She has had prior history of epilepsy and would go through spells about once a month and due to her age she has been going through spells more and more often like once to twice a week.
I carried in my dog begging for her to be put down because she was suffering. They wouldn’t even look at her and didn’t even come within 10 feet of her. I didn’t even see the face of the doctor.
I was on the floor sobbing over my dog as the receptionist tried telling me we had to do blood work in order to deem her «unhealthy» and this would then cost me $ 150.
We explained her past of epilepsy and the receptionist asked what vet we had taken her to prior to «prove» she had the epilepsy.
I then said I was taking my dog to Access blue perl in renton and proceeded to carry my dog out of the facility. The receptionist then proceeded to bash that clinic and said I will be charged $ 100 just walking through the front door…
As my dog was in the car in the parking lot she then started to go into a seizure in the car. I told the receptionist and she responded to me with attitude «well what do you want me to do, are you agreeing to blood work?!» This awful place does not care for your pet! They care for the money in you pocket/​bank account.
I’d like to refer any and everyone to blue perl access in renton.
I went in and told them I had arrived with the seizing dog since I called while at south Seattle vet’s parking lot and 2 of their techs pushed out a cart to the car and wheeled her into the clinic and gave her immediate care.
They had took us in a back room and talked over our options and they compassionately understood what we were going through. They agreed that it was best to put her down and let me go to the back kennel to give my last goodbyes and said I could come back in the morning for a clay decorated mold of her paw print FOR FREE.
As we walked out of the clinic balling our eyes out all the employees gave their condolences to me and my family.
Don’t ever believe anything south Seattle has to say about other clinics.
They will bash other clinics yet with charge you for unnecessary charges.
The receptionist has no compassion what so ever and wouldn’t even provide her with the care she needed.

This is my personal experience and opinion at this clinic.

This evening we had to take our dog in for an emergency visit. We have had to use this vet in the past and all in all we have had a good experience. After tonight I can no longer say that. The rates in the past have been reasonable. This evening we were quoted 450 to 550 for an overnight stay. 130 for blood work as well as an additional 50 for activated charcoal. 630 t0 730 total. As a reference our daughters dog had to have emergency surgery about 45 days ago. Total cost of the surgery was $ 570 including surgery, medication and vet visit. This was at Priceless Pets in Normandy Park. I wish they were open this evening.
The staff and the vets demeanor and attitude at South Seattle Vet this evening were rude and condescending towards my daughter and I. When I asked the vet why it was now so expensive, her response was we have had to raise their rates and if we wanted to have our dog treated to sign the form and pay a deposit at the receptionist. When I was up at the receptionist, I made a comment that the rates were excessive the vet tech replied snidely, That they had the best rates in town and had not raised their rates. My reply was that’s funny, the vet just told me you had raised your rates.
Simply put, I would have rather taken my dog elsewhere and would have if it had not been an emergency situation. I can not or will not recommend South Seattle Vet to anyone. They are predatory in nature.

Very grumpy hostile front desk lady yelling at customers with enough attitude to drive the block away. Cursing at her fellow coworkers makes everyone feel uncomfortable. I’m paying 400 bucks for my pet to get looked at, and your check to get paid and a reason for you to have a job. Please have some courtesy!
Doctor is polite however so as soon as you make it past the front desk troll you’re good to go. The doctor’s father does front desk work and is quite polite as well. Also always ask for your receipt, even if they say the printer doesn’t work insist on it, they have a working one out back.
Watch your step! the dogs sometimes go potty in the lobby and the employees dread cleaning up even after you inform them of it. So it can be pretty sloppy at times.

I have here most recently to pick up some cat food for my cats, and it was my first visit to their new location. At the new location, I probably waited about 20 minutes just to pick up some cat food that they already had on hand. It was a little irritating to wait so long, especially when there were only 2 other people in the waiting room when I got there. Whatever.
Previously, I had to take one of my cats here when she starting limping unexpectedly, and of course, on a weekend. We only went to this place because it was A. close and B. open 24 hours/​on the weekends. The doctors and staff were nice enough but clearly had more of «move them through» attitude, which I think might be typical of these types of clinics. They diagnosed my cat with a broken bone in her foot and put a cast on her. Before we had even made it home, my cat had removed the cast. :(Lame. We had to go back and get another one put one. We did not go back to them for follow-​up (but went to our normal vet) because of the treatment options they suggested, the prices, and the caring touch for lack of a better term.
I like them well-​enough. I would use them again for an urgent vet clinic but probably would not use them as my normal vet.
