Sound Orthodontics

My son needed an orthodontist, he was too young for braces but had a tooth grow in through the roof of his mouth and needed it corrected for obvious reasons (not cosmetic). After searching high and low I decided to go to Sound Ortho. I was told that my son needed braces not only for the top but for the bottom as well. At the time, not knowing a lot about dentistry and after a lot of talk how the bottom needed to be corrected as well to ensure a proper bite I agreed for a full set of braces. After two years and ALL of my dentist insurance eaten up my son completed the treatment. Sounds good right? Definitely not! Now I move (in the military) and I take my son to find a new orthodontist as my sons retainer broke just a couple weeks after we moved. I called Sound Ortho and they basically tell me nothing they can do and best wishes. Nice. I find a local Ortho who breaks the news to me, asks why my son had braces at such an early age. I tell him why and then he asks if he had full braces or just the top, then he says nearly verbatim the speech sound Ortho gave me how he «needed» a full treatment to ensure a proper bite. He went on to tell me that unfortunately this is very typical of dentist taking advantage of people and their hard earned money for unnecessary treatments. He then showed me several pictures of multiple patients who just like me were convinced that their child needed full braces prematurely and the after-​pictures with their teeth completely a mess once the adult teeth come in. Of course now all my insurance money is gone and eventually my son will need another full set of braces! My son definitely needed the top braces but the bottom set was all for Sound, not my son! Thanks a lot Sound Ortho for taking advantage of my sons medical needs to remodel your office, your welcome! By the way, the staff are absolutely amazing, unfortunately you don’t go to the dentist just because the staff is friendly, you go because your trusting the professionalism and expertise of the doctor with either yourself or your children. For those searching an orthodontist, you’ve been warned. The two stars for the staff not the husband wife team that charged me essentially double for unnecessary work/​expenses.

I love sound orthodontics! They helped me achieve my goal of having a beautiful smile and I couldn’t thank them enough! The whole staff is so friendly from the moment you walk in the door to the assistants and drs that see you in the black. Everyone is so professional. The office doesn’t just seem like a group of coworkers they look more like a family and that alone says a lot about them. I would highly recommend them to any family or friends looking to get braces. my dog decided she missed me and wanted to show that by chewing up my retainer (and my milano cookies, which are also pretty expensive to replace).
i had quotes from all over seattle for just replacing one retainer. either they wouldn’t do it because they didn’t do my entire orthodontia or they would only do the top and bottom set or it would be $ 400+, etc. sound orthodontics was incredibly nice about the whole thing.
they saw me the week after i called. my appointment was at 2 p.m. and i arrived a little early. i was literally walking out of the door at 2:06 p.m. after having my mold done and finishing payment.
they were totally flexible with my schedule, the office has a little k-​cup machine, and getting a new bottom retainer was only $ 124.

Great advice, great service, great outcome!
I recently went to Dr. Hou because my teeth were starting to shift 20+ years after wearing braces. I had been to another provider who counseled me to have an intensive treatment for A LOT of money. Dr. Hau didn’t know this, and told me he could help with a simple retainer that would cost a few hundred dollars. Obviously, I picked him!
His solution was perfect; my teeth are now back in alignment and I’m happy with my smile again. In addition, he and his staff were EXTREMELY courteous and professional. The office was well-​run, and I never had any unanswered questions or unreasonable wait times.
Love this place!
