Slave To The Needle

I’ll review when I go… looking to get a small piece or two of flash while visiting Seattle in a few months. Anybody know what their minimum is or how they price? Please message me, thanks!

I have had several sessions with Honest Jon to do two large cat tattoos on my hips, and it was a really great experience. The staff at STTN are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, and HJ in particular was really easy to work with. I came in with a fairly nebulous idea, and he drew up exactly the right design. If you’re looking for an artist to help you design a piece, I recommend HJ. This was an awesome experience, and I’m looking forward to getting more work done by him.

Daniel Charneski was PHENOMENAL! Had an absolute blast with him, it was the easiest and painless tattoo EVER! He’s super down to earth, silly and downright badass. I had a horrible experience at Fist Full of Metal and went to check out Slave. Was immediately thankful that Daniel was my artist and that I decided to stop in. Definitely going back for many more tattoos by him! Do yourself a favor and get some tats by Daniel!!! High five to him!

I’ve been here many times in the past year, between my own appointments and providing moral support for friends, and every time has been an excellent experience!
My first time here, I got a simple helix piercing, which was my first piercing other than my lobes. I was pierced by Aaron and his calm and friendly demeanor really eased my nerves! It was a quick and nearly painless process, and the piercing healed normally.
The second time I came to Slave to the Needle, I got my tragus pierced. My sister came with me and she went first, and her ears are tiny — so, needless to say, the piercer had a little bit of difficulty getting the jewel in place. Ouch! But, he was gentle and got it in securely, and she seemed to deal with it just fine. When I got mine pierced, it was almost as painless as my helix and just as quick. That one has taken a bit longer to heal, but it definitely isn’t the piercer’s fault — I’m just an idiot and enjoy playing with it when I’m bored.
Finally, my most recent experience here was to get my first tattoo (!!!) from Kris /​Kristjan. I wanted a completely custom piece, which understandably is a longer and more difficult process than more traditional pieces. I set up a consultation appointment first and met with Kris to explain my idea. A week later, we met again, and he basically told me my original idea just wouldn’t have a nice execution, which was disappointing for me, but I trusted his recommendation and was anxious to see the other ideas he would come up with. We continued emailing back and forth over the next week leading up to my actual tattoo appointment, and when it came down to go under the needle, I LOVED his final artwork! It was completely different than what I had envisioned, but it turned out so much more beautifully and still maintained and displayed the sentimental meaning behind it. I am so happy with the final result! Kris was also a great conversationalist and made me feel really comfortable during the entire process, from beginning to end.
Sure, Slave to the Needle is a bit pricier than some of the other piercing/​tattoo parlors around town, but for the quality of the art that is going on your body FOREVER, I’d say it’s well worth it. The artists here are extremely talented and friendly, which is exactly the kind of personality you want from someone putting permanent art on your body. The rest of the staff here are extremely friendly and accommodating as well! If I ever get another piercing or tattoo (which, let’s be honest, I probably will), I know where I’ll be going!

I am left feeling disappointed with my slave to the needle experience. I wanted the top of my hand and part of my forearm done. I was scheduled for four appointments totaling 22 hours worth of work. I took the first available spots, which put me waiting seven months for the first appointment and the last one extending the timeframe to nine months. I have had a full arm sleeve done in two sessions totaling 14 hours of work. I feel that the quality done on my arm is on par with the work they provide, by no means am I knocking slave to the needles quality as its top notch. My gripe is that they are price gouging their customers by adding extra days, which makes for a ridiculous timeframe. While waiting I decided that this place is not for me and canceled. I would not recommend this business unless of course you don’t mind waiting or giving away extra money to them.

My old piercing place closed a while back, so I was looking for somewhere new to get my tragus done. After hearing good things from Facebook friends and from other places, I decided that Slave to the Needle would be the perfect place to go.
I got my tragus pierced about two months ago by Adam and I love it! It is healing nicely and he told me just how to care for it. Very clean place which is another plus.
I’m thinking about getting at least one more piercing soon, and I will come back here to get it done.

Honest Jon!!! This guy is simply an amazing artist. Completed a inner arm shoulder to bicep tattoo. I look at it everyday and smile. People regularly comment on the amazing work. The question is where did that do that amazing piece? I say every time. Marc Cano and Honest Jon slave to the needle in Seattle. I am back home living in Los Angeles and I cannot for the life of me find an artist down here with that type of effortless skill they displayed. All the additions on my sleeve was them. They said this is what I imagine and said go with it. If you are ever in the market for top notch ink? Check these guys out. Amazing!

I first went to Slave to the Needle about a year ago for a (triple forward helix) piercing. I looked around online and liked the pictures I saw on the website along with the Unilocal reviews. I made an appointment and met Adam who was very friendly. Not only is the piercer’s experience important to me but knowledge of the body is as well and he demonstrated that by taking the time to thoroughly go over the process and any questions I had. I never felt rushed. He allowed me however long I needed in between piercings.
About a month ago, the diamond part of one of the earrings fell out and I dropped in with no appointment to have it replaced. Another piercer was there and helped me right away. He cleaned my ear and replaced the diamond part of the earring. Since I will be working in the medical field, he shared ideas on what they could do to hide the triple piercing and still allow me to wear some type of earring. With a bag of sea salt I was on my way! I was only charged for the replacement earring (his time wasn’t included).
I will definitely be back for all my piercings from now on. Great & knowledgeable staff who are considerate of customers and cleanliness!

I had a friend get a tattoo at the Wallingford location four /​five years ago and she had a great experience! I tagged along for support and sat with her. Everything was so professional and clean and her tattoo artist was very nice. So naturally when my friend wanted to get her nose pierced this past weekend, Slave To The Needle came to mind immediately! I booked us an appointment and told the lady on the phone that I was THINKING about maybe getting something on my ear or nosed pierced and my friend was definitely getting her nose pierced. That all went over well.
However when we got to the shop on Sunday, I decided after looking at the jewelry that I wasn’t set on anything. And frankly I felt like Adam was trying to rush us and we both felt uncomfortable. Adam was quite rude about me not wanting to get a piercing after all and told me that this time was specifically booked out for us and that I would have to call and reschedule. It’s not like neither of us were not getting a piercing and wasting his time… I said on the phone that I wasn’t sure… Made that pretty clear.
He warmed up in the piercing room though. He’s very knowledge and did a great job on my friend’s nose!

Andrew Snowden did a great job working with my sister’s vision for her tattoo and creating something she loves. He was both professional and fun to be around while he carefully executed the tattoo which turned out better than we could have imagined!

I was really disappointed by my experience here. I am looking for a new nose ring, since I work in the medical field and need to have something less conspicuous that fits my face more snugly. The guy explained that that might not be possible, including the insightful comment that «it’s a facial piercing and it’s going to be conspicuous.» I would never ask a business to compromise their standards, but I was hoping he could help me out with something besides «You can adjust it yourself if you want.» All three staff members that I interacted with were unfriendly and made me feel dumb for even asking.
I appreciate the high industry standards, etc., but the same message could have been delivered with less condescension. Since I’m not heavily pierced and tatted I already felt uncomfortable in the shop, and they were incredibly unwelcoming.

Had a great experience with Andrew Snowden. Went in to cover a tattoo I got 24 years ago that had too much detail in too small a space, resulting in it fading into a literal blob over time. Andrew listened carefully to what I wanted, drew up a great comp and was very collaborative with fine tuning it. I don’t believe in chit-​chatting with a working artist — I’d rather zone out watching a movie and let them concentrate on their work. Andrew was totally cool with that and the hours flew by. He even offered me a pillow to make me more comfortable. All around terrific guy and outcome.
So why deduct a star? Well, a few reasons. When I initially called I asked if they could recommend an artist who could do the style I wanted as their site was down. I was told they aren’t allowed to do that, but that I should come in for an art consult right away as there was a 6-​month-​plus wait time for ink. I had a gift card to the shop I didn’t want to go to waste so I went in and met with an artist chosen at random. Oh boy. He was the exact opposite of what I wanted and made fun of my vision, repeatedly saying things like «you’re kidding, right?» and «you really want that? I mean I can do it, but you want that?». Needless to say I was totally turned off and considering letting the card go to waste. Thankfully I found Andrew and he was the polar opposite in terms of listening to me without judgment and supporting what I wanted. My only other gripe is that it is a very packed shop, definitely not a place to go if you are remotely uncomfortable with being on full display.

Had a new tattoo with Levi… Could not be happier! Great artist great person! Thank you so much. Looking forward to my next one!

Super impressed by my tattoo experience! Honest John has a super light touch, my tattoo barely hurt at all. It was a two hour session for a very detailed tattoo and he was finished in less than an hour and a half. Worth every cent I was charged, I will be going back for more tattoos!

I had a great experience at Slave to the Needle — even though it was more than a year ago. My original choice of artist was booked for much longer than I would be able to work out before moving out of town. I was recommended by said artist to Kris. Kris was amazing. He was smart, friendly, and an excellent artist. After the first sketch did not have what I had in mind, I came back a week later to find a sketch that matched exactly what I was looking for. That is saying something, because I had an idea of what I wanted, but was unable to fully envision it. Kris made my idea into reality, and executed it in an extremely professional manner. For how good Kris is, I am now afraid it will be very difficult to book him moving forward… but I have to spread to the good word about this guy!

I have become dedicated to this place simply because of how courteous and professional the staff is. I have brought a friend and even my mom to have piercings done here because I was so impressed with the way they did things. Josh is always such a pleasure to interact with. I also had a tattoo done a few years ago by Clark Kent and I plan on going back to him in the near future! So much love for this place, I will continue to recommend them to people I know!

I got my piercing done by Adam yesterday and it was clean, quick and involved no unnecessary pain. Adam was very professional and confident, which put me at ease. I’m very happy with the placement and it’s healing nicely.

Andrew Snowden is a GENIUS! I gave him a vague notion of what I wanted and he created a fabulous illustration that exceeded my expectations in every way. Andrew’s fine line art is perfection… I will be back for more!

This was my second time getting my nose pierced and it went amazingly well. Adam pierced both my nose and my friends nose and he was professional and ninja like quick. It hurt for only a second and we both feel like it was a positive experience. The store is clean and professional and I would recommend it to others looking for a «safe» place to get pierced.

I got my half sleeve done by Clark and I love it. I get compliments on it all the time! I plan on getting a few more done here in the near future.

Best tattoo shop I’ve been at in a long time. Daniel did my tattoo and I’d recommend him 100% to my friends and family. He’s hilarious and he kept me laughing and distracted during a particularly painful tattoo (which looks incredible). The shop is clean, organized and completely free of pretentious assholes. I didn’t get a piercing so I can’t speak to that but their selection of jewelry looked pretty extensive. You will not regret your time here.

I made an appointment as it is recommended, price is very reasonable! After picking my jewelry he explained how it would work. I was with a friend who was very calming, I had been breathing slowly and was in a positive mindset. I read a lot and knew a bit of what to expect, and Joshua made me really comfortable.
It was over before I knew it, nearly painless — I expected much more — I didn’t bleed. I was so happy with this experience! Highly recommend.

I have been to MANY shops in the past 16 years since my first tattoo. From Texas, Hawaii, Ohio, California, Washington, Japan, you name it. Two shops I hit up (Japan and Texas) actually knew of this place! That should speak wonders!!! Slave has ruined any other shop for me. Furthermore, Clark is my guy now. I won’t let him leave me! I’ll find him. Lol ha aha ha aha (Wedding Crashers reference)

Just finished my second session with Daniel and I could not be any more pleased with the end results. I will recommend this place, and Daniel, in the highest regard.
Thanks Slave to the Needle and Daniel for an amazing piece of art I can show off and be proud of. I will definitely be back when the itch for more ink arises.

I still haven’t been tattooed at Slave to the Needle (sorry, Alan at Pierced Hearts has my soul on lockdown for that front), but when I decided to get a third set of holes pierced in my earlobes, I didn’t want to trek over to the U District to get them done at my normal haunt. Having come by previously for piercings and some jewelry swapping over the years, I already knew the piercing crew is on top of their game; plus, like Pierced Hearts, all piercers are APP members and unusually anal retentive about cleanliness, placement, and enuring their jewelry is top notch– no externally threaded crap here!
Justin was the gentleman who helped me out tonight– I was able to discuss what jewelry I wanted with him quickly, and also gave me an estimate for the total price based off of the jewelry I’d chosen before getting down to business. Justin spent probably 15 – 20 minutes getting my ears cleaned to his standards, making sure both of us were satisfied with the placement, and also stretching out my second set of earlobe piercings and popping some jewelry in. The piercing itself was quick (under two minutes including popping in jewelry), 98% painless, and I was out the door quickly after that.
I did drop a decent chunk of change– HOWEVER, I did also get some bling bling for my ears. Do not be scared by the jewelry prices– this isn’t your crappy Claires/​Piercing Pagoda crap thats covered in nickel and will make your lymph nodes go crazy. Most of the metal they sell (short of the gold and silver, duh) is implant grade steel or titanium, and while its not cheap, you get what you pay for. For thereal.

This place rocks! I got a cover up piece by John Gilbert and he did an outstanding job. He was very attentive to what I wanted and an overall amazing artist. I highly recommend this shop, very professional.

Not happy.
I have had better experiences at STTN. My husband has had a tattoo there, years ago, and I had my nose pierced there many years ago as well.
Last week, my husband had another tattoo done, this time by Andrew. At first we were happy because he seemed interested in our story and making it special for us (him).
He gave us a the quote, we made the deposit and the appt for the following week. Shop min is an hour. I get that. But he had no color done, nothing special, and the whole thing took under 30 mins. Still charged a lot more than the min, even with the $ 50 deposit.
It felt super, SUPER, rushed.
We thought, no big deal… it’ll look good and we can let that go.
It has been a week and as it is healing, it looks awful. It even looks rushed. There are lines that aren’t straight, blobs where there are supposed to be numbers.
Just shotty work.
I just hope it can be fixed.
