We aim to be the place in Seattle to buy Trail Running Shoes! We offer road models as well, but our selection of Trail Runners will blow you away! Accomadating all runners, we definitely have a soft spot in our hearts for the trail Ultra running crowd!

History

Established in 2012.

For years, it was my dream to own my own business. Since I had worked in running specialty retail for over 10 years in Seattle, it was natural that I started to want my own shop.

I envisioned that it would be different than the previous places I have worked, and I do believe I’ve created a truly unique running store.

At Seven Hills Running Shop, we will focus on trail and ultra running, but sell a wide variety of shoes: road, trail, and kids; light and heavy; cushy and minimal.

We aim to be less of a store and more a place to be. More than one customer has made the comment ‚“This store’s great; I feel like I’m in your living room.”

Growing up in Ohio, I have always run. Well, ever since my mother wouldn’t sign the permission slip to play 7th grade football, that is.

I graduated from the University of Akron and thought I could be a «professional runner» if I moved to Colorado. The mountains, it was my hope, would shape me into something that I had previously not been: elite.

Those dreams were never achieved, but I still enjoyed running more than anything else. So when I moved to Seattle, it was a natural idea to look for employment at a running store.

There, in the world of running specialty retail, I believe I truly became a «professional runner» albeit in a different sense than I originally dreamed. Running was what I did. Day and night; work and play. My own running; sharing in the running of others who’d come through the door.

Seven Hills Running Shop is the culmination of more than a decade of me living this «running lifestyle».

What an awesome little shop! I’m glad I decided to drop by. I spoke to Paige about tips on shoes, stretches and trail running. She was so informative and sweet. I’m a loyal user of Mizunos, unfortunately they don’t carry any here. They specialize more in trail running, so they’ve got a great selection of those types of shoes. I want to start trail running, so I will definitely be back to do more research once I’m finished with my upcoming races. Paige has provided me with a lot of resources on how to get started. She does massage and fitness prescription, and they have lots of connections with running coaches. One of their sponsored runners actually trains my friend at work! And she’s quite the running beast, so I know he’s legit! They also have a run group on Wed night and Sat mornings that do a loop at discovery. The run group also has connections with Ian fitness in magnolia for free boot camp classes. I felt really good about coming here and look forward to taking my running to the next level with the great resources that they provide!

Been buying all my running and hiking shoes. The owner and all the staff really know the variety of shoes, running issues & problems and really try to help you find what fits you (as opposed to just making a sale). They have been great about getting what I need if it is not in stock.

Didn’t buy anything but had a nice conversation with the owner. Seven Hills is solely trail running and has a great selection of the newest trail shoes, vests, socks, gels and supplements. Wednesday nights they have group runs at 7:00pm!

These folks know about running, walking and the shoes to go with these activities. The very nice woman who helped me, (pardon me for not knowing her name,) was really, really helpful, asked questions that helped her pick out the right shoes for what I needed, rather than what she wanted to sell me. The shoes I had were not properly fitted, and were problematic, and the Scott shoes she sold me are rather like two pillows, cushioning my feet on their 7 mile daily walk. Would I go back for something other than shoes? Yeppereeno, as they only sell the stuff you need, and I got the feeling the things they sell are things they use as well. A great little store for our little neighbourhood. Will definitely return.

My husband and I had a great experience at Seven Hills. We are trying to get back into running and Phil was super helpful. He had us each try on 4 – 6 shoes and watched us run in each pair to help determine the best fit. These guys really know their stuff.

I just recently took up running after having lost over 200 lbs. I was having a tough time finding running gear that didn’t seem cheesy or was overly expensive for the quality. Seven Hills Running Shop in Seattle was referred to me by a friend and I have to buy my friend dinner now. They had the shoes I was looking for and they carry some of the best running accessories. I found actual socks that keep my feet dry; those are hard to find. The staff was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. The really cool thing is that they knew where the local runs were which was great for me since I really am new to the running scene. Thanks guys… I’ll be back… a lot.

They have a lot of different brands than Super Jock, (plus way easier parking). Easy return policy… they want you in the right shoes.

Great new running shop. We are so lucky to have a shop here in seattle that is so active in the local ultra scene.
They are always out supporting runners and help support local favorites like ras the ultra pedestrian.
Bought a nathan pack from them last year. I have been super impressed. No other shops around even carried the nathan vapor at the time.

Living in Bellingham, we have excellent running resources. Although, we don’t have a store so dedicated to trail and ultra running as 7HR. We had other Seattle-​area tasks, so stopped by to ask about Inov-​8s and see what the place is like.
Phil was outstanding in his shoe help, racing advice and all-​around pleasant, professional & personal shop owner presentation.
This may not be on my way to a particular place, but I will be back. Solid resource for trail and ultra runners I will gladly recommend.

Aw, man. This place is so great. Headed by one of the most adorbs and BA ultra runners in the PNW, Seven Hills is both laid back, charming, and educational. Phil, the owner, won’t get in your face when you walk in, though a certain pug named Louie may run around your ankles a bit until you’ve all settled in. When you’re ready, Phil will answer any questions you have and several you didn’t even know to ask. In short, his service is just wonderful. My man and I came here for trail shoes and reassurance about a trail race we’d signed up for against our better judgement, and Phil sized up my man’s feet so his toes would stop hurting, educated us on trail running technique, and even gave us stickers! All the while using phrases like «Golly» and «Gee Whiz!» which were cracking me up. Thanks for a great experience, Phil! Best of luck to you, the store is awesome!

Most knowledgeable, best service, and best selection! I was so impressed and came home with 3 pairs of shoes. Not my norm, at all; I’m a Grandma backpacker and sometimes jogger. The owner Phil himself helped me and I have had all kinds of trouble finding trail runner type shoes for long distance hiking and running shoes, as well. I highly recommend this shop and the people who will help you. I learned a lot to! You will not be sorry if you take a look. No pressure at all.

Just the shop I’ve been wishing for. Drove all the way from Greenlake to shop here, and I’m glad I did.
Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, but the selection is why you’ll come here. They seem to have all the latest in awesome trail running gear, but roadies will find what they need too.
This was the only place in town (that I know of) that was carrying the new Ultimate Direction packs. So nice to try something on before purchasing. I hate buying sports equipment over the internet, so glad this shop is here.

I’m not a runner but a woman of a certain age who does like to walk for fun when not schlepping around on normal errands. And I really needed new shoes. Martin was so kind and helpful! I’m walking around outside with two different brands on – no problem. And price was a consideration too and the store understands that.
Great shopping experience that Nordstrom’s could learn from.
Oh yeah, I love my spiffy new Monotrail shoes! And I love supporting a neighborhood business!

I’m a big fan of my local running store in Gig Harbor, Route 16, but when I heard about a new store devoted to trail running, I had to take a peak (pun intended!).
I loved the no-​sales pitch, service focus of the store and staff. I met the owner Phil later in my shopping experience, but Malcolm took care of my shoe search. It was super fun and interesting to try on such a wide range of trail shoes from not only a wide range of manufacturers, but also multiple offerings from each manufacturer.
Malcolm was very attentive, informed, and experienced in his guidance, while carefully listening to my running history, preferences, and goals. There is a nice hill outside the store, and I got to do hill repeats in 8 or so different shoes, so I got my workout in too!
I came away amazed at the variety of options now available in trail shoes, and in an ideal world, I would have wanted to buy three different pairs for different settings. I bought a pair of Montrails and the price was more than competitive with other stores and even online.
I got a sample of some new nutritional product, and got some great guidance on various levels of trail and wilderness running. To hear both Malcolm and Phil talk about their running and experience the palpable joy as they did was a treat.
They also stock a nice selection of clothing (I picked up a elite light jacket on sale) and a selection of waterproof, tear-​resistant maps.
I encourage all those who are prompted to support this new business, its business ethic, and its deep devotion to the spirit of the trails: D
PS: Just around the corner, drop in to Discovery Espresso — great coffee and the orange/​raisin scones kick butt!

Did I run seven hills to get to this shop? No, but I would have! Atmosphere was just what you want in a running store – no one running circles around you, no pitches, no incessant questioning, just great service. Phil and staff were very au courant with the running shoe scene, always ready with answers, suggestions, tips. Even as an avid runner who basically knows what she’s looking for, I definitely profited from Phil and staff’s knowledge. I took a few pairs out for a sprint up and down the hill before making my choice. Solid prices, solid service, solid store.

Run Magnolia! Phil opened this store last summer and I have not walked into another running store since then. I dropped in initially before the Magnolia Run the Bluff 12K to check out what the selection, and the rows of shoes has been growing. Catering to the trail runner, Seven Hills has a lot of variety of shoes for road — anything from minimal to Hoka. It is great to have a friendly running store in town. Phil is familiar with the neighborhood, and supports the parks. There is even some awesome canvas photographs of notorious, local runners up around the store. Give me Louie a pat on the head next time you are in.

Absolutely one of the best places in Seattle to get a pair of running shoes — trail or street. Phil, the owner, has been in the business for a lot of years and is incredibly knowledgeable about how to get a shoe that fits great for your foot. In addition I felt like the prices were very competitive compared to what you can find around town or even online.
If you need a new pair of running shoes you should definitely head to this shop first.

On a recent visit to Seattle I came across this new shop in the Magnolia district-​it just opened and is locally owned-​my first impression when I walked in was what a fresh-​elegant space it was-​highlighting vibrant running shoes on one wall and stylish (but technical) clothing on the other-​I am not a runner-​but I am an active 60 year old woman-​I love NIA-​yoga and Pilates-​forms of exercise that I do in a studio-​barefoot-​I also love to walk-​it is critical to me to take care of my feet and the right shoe is of paramount importance-(I have learned this from sad experience)-I felt welcome and comfortable from the outset-​Phil-​the young man who helped me has an intuitive knack for suggesting the right shoe in the right size (not easy since I have tricky feet-​long and narrow with some issues) this is the first time in memory that I had a shoe feel good right out of the box (they continue to do so) I tried the shoes on with a pair of socks from the sock basket-​I liked the feel of those so much I bought some –after deciding on the shoes-​I moved on to the frosting-​the practical yet cutting edge clothes… I got a pair of tights that I have been wearing when it is windy here and look forward to using as a layering piece on my long winter walks-​I also got some items for family members who are runners-​as well as a great ‘Run Magnolia‘T-shirt-and T-​shirt with the shop name and logo on it-​I have tucked those away for Christmas-​in closing I would like to say that this shop is for anyone who moves-​with the distinct advantage of having a resident ‘shoe whisperer‘in Phil-​when you go-​tuck a treat in your pocket-​if you are lucky-​Louie Trailpug will be there to greet you-​I would give this shop ten stars if I could… I plan on making this a regular stop when I am in Seattle… I envy anyone who is local… I have a feeling that Seven Hills Running Shop is going to just get better and better…

I went into the shop in Magnolia with the intention to buy a new pair of running shoes. Phil was the man who helped me. He was friendly, professional, and very helpful. He asked me about my running habits, how often I ran, what I was looking for, any complaints I had with my prior shoes. He then had me try on some shoes and take them outside for a quick run while he videotaped my feet. From those videos he pointed out that my feet needed which shoes, and he helped me to narrow my search down to two pairs of shoes. When I selected one pair, he assured me to try running a short run to see if they worked out, and if they didn’t then I could bring them back. When I had my short run the next day, I realized that they were not the running shoes for me. I went back two days later to return the shoes, and he helped me to try on a few more shoes before we finally settled on a men’s pair of shoes which were a perfect fit. I love these shoes.
The attention I saw at Seven Hills Running Shop was completely focused on helping me find the best pair of shoes for ME. It was personal. The people here love running. They even talk about their own running group on Saturdays, they ask about upcoming races, they encourage newbie runners like me, and this lifestyle just shines in their love for their running shop. They have a loyal customer now with me.
