SET Salon

I went to Becca last week for a full foil to brighten up my blonde. New hairstylists always make me a little nervous, but I had just moved to the area and read a lot of great things. Becca did not disappoint! She had previously worked at a salon in Phoenix and just recently moved to the area. I’m glad I’ve found her before she starts to build up a big book of clientele and gets too busy. Besides the fantastic job she did on my hair, she was fun and easy to talk to. I’m looking forward to going back next time I need to lighten up!

Great boutique salon with exceptional service. The stylists are true artists and take time to pay attention to the smallest details. These use high quality products that leave my hair feeing so healthy — even after a dye job. It’s usually easy to book an appointment about a week to two weeks out. I’ve only done cuts/​color here but they also offer waxing. My go to gal is Robin.

I got a groupon for a wax here, and I am very pleased with Janescia’s work. I got a Brazilian and a brow wax, both were very quick and she helped to keep me distracted from the pain. I feel so fresh, and I’m excited for my cruise! Highly recommended.

Sarah and the rest of the staff here are amazing and friendly. Sarah’s been doing my hair for years and I always love it! Actually, I’d prefer to never go to anyone else again. :)

The stars are only for the actual hair services and stylists. I’ve had a few good experiences here (hair services), and was planning to continue visiting for regular cut and color. Nothing spectacular, and I always had to do my own roots in between, the color doesn’t hold like it does elsewhere. The salon is super cute and convenient, and the stylists I saw were friendly, however.
Unfortunately, I woke up the morning of my last appointment with the flu. I tried calling and got no answer, so I e-​mailed — at least 2 hours before my appointment time — to let them know. In that e-​mail I asked when I could reschedule. Much later that day, I received an e-​mail from the stylist, from the salon’s e-​mail, telling me I was charged a no-​show fee. I responded, and then forwarded the first e-​mail. I again inquired about a reschedule. No response for days. I followed up and the owner responded, saying she had been sick and the stylist isn’t permitted to waive a no-​show fee or reschedule me (weird). If this is true, I would have expected the stylist to at least respond to me and tell me what was happening, not just ignore a customer.
The owner was very clear that she would rather lose a customer over a $ 35 no show charge than refund it and rebook me. Her response was curt and not anything that a service industry employee, let alone owner, should ever send to an upset customer. Telling me my $ 35 would be put towards another appointment, which still wasn’t booked despite ME asking several times to reschedule, is a silly way to «offer» to continue the relationship. Had the charge just been waived, I would have come back in and spent the regular way-​too-​much on my hair every couple of months with nothing bad to say.
I’ve since found a new salon, and the charge will be removed by my credit card company anyway. I understand an inflexible policy for a customer who flakes all the time or if the cancel was for a bogus reason. I was sick, it’s flu season. That’s not foreseeable, and I contacted them as soon as I realized I couldn’t get out of bed. The owner claimed to have been sick herself, excusing away days of ignoring my inquiries. Maybe when she gets sick she knows in advance?
To lose a customer, and the negative word-​of-​mouth the experience causes, over a measly $ 35 is an interesting way to run a business. There are too many good salons in the city to put up with this kind of attitude.
**Update: the owner’s response continues to support the poor customer service already displayed. It took weeks to respond as well … Already lost a customer in me, and several others who I’ve referred elsewhere. It’s sad to see a business being handled this way, especially for the stylists who end up bearing the brunt with lost customers.

Today I had my first appointment with Robyn at SET after a box dye-​job gone wrong. (Honestly, can you really go right with box dye?) I came in feeling nervous and apprehensive as I have had the same person doing my hair for almost 23 years now. Instead of jumping right in to bleaching my hair, Robyn first asked about my hair history and what I was looking for exactly. We browsed pictures for a bit and quickly came to the realization that bleaching my hair all over would be an expensive color correction. She listened to what I wanted and set realistic expectations for me. Finally, we decided that a balayage would be the best route especially if I wanted to gradually get back to blonde after dyeing my hair red.
The whole process was easy. For the three hours I was there Robyn answered any «silly» questions I had (ones I may have even asked two or three times), kept me excited about my hair, and made me feel comfortable and confident. She explained everything she was doing and why she was doing it which really eased a lot of my nerves.
Instead of just blow-​drying my hair and sending me out the door, Robyn took the time to teach me a few different ways to style my hair and the best products to maintain that style all day long. She even applied a little bit of makeup to my face after I said that I was definitely going to «selfie» when I got home. (Which I happily did and attached a picture of.)
I’ve gone to different salons with my friends and they often feel cramped, noisy, and impersonal. SET was different in the best way possible. The staff is friendly and talkative. The salon is clean and cozy.
All in all, I had an AMAZING experience at SET and I am eagerly awaiting my next appointment and whatever fun things Robyn has in store for my hair.

Went in to get waxed by Jenasica. It was amazing and I highly recommend her for ALL waxing purposes. She was professional, funny, and quick! She always has amazing deals as well

Jenascia takes such good care of me. I have been going to her for all my waxing needs for the last six months and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Top notch!!!

Sarah & the girls @ Set are beyond incredible. Moved to Seattle last year looking for a new hair salon & aesthetician. Having moved from LA, my expectations were especially high. I have been blown away again & again by their expertise, professionalism, & how their clients are truly treated like family. They will literally drop what they are doing to give you a bang touch-​up & make sure it’s perfect! Bailey (amazing!!) is currently my main stylist, & I trust her implicitly — she’s even doing my hair for my wedding. Jenascia (waxing wizard!!) is the only person who can actually keep me laughing & not freaking out during a Brazilian. The highest of compliments for Set!

I made a last minute appointment with Jenascia for a Brazilian as my normal esthetician is unavailable until the end of the month. I skimmed groupon for locations near my work. I seen the 5 stars and thankfully she was able to get me in. The salon is easily located in Bell town. There’s some construction going on but I easily found parking on 3^rd and walked over. She is a joy to be around. I immediately recognized her from her other job. Having a friendly face made it a little easier. As Brazilians are never comfortable especially when you’re exposing yourself to someone new for the first time. She was quick. I tried out the no scream cream. Didn’t really work but talking with her through the process made it a little more bearable. I did the groupon but the normal pricing is great. I will come back. Also she’s a perfectionist and made sure she tweezed whatever the wax did not grab. Yaaay NO HAIR!!! I think you will enjoy SET Salon. Jenasciaha a kind spirit and I felt like I was talking with one of my besties.

Jenascia is a miracle to my brows! She is thoughtful, takes her time and really listens to what you want. I was looking for a spot close to me, happened upon SET and am hooked. Not only did she make my brows look fab, she was so fun to talk to! SET is also one of the cutest places in Belltown and the staff is super friendly!

Today, after months of hearing my coworkers rave about Jenascia and her waxing skills, I finally got to experience it first hand. From the moment I walked in the door, I was immediately made to feel incredibly comfortable and welcomed by the girl who checked me in. Jenascia was immediately ready for me and we got started right away. I was so impressed with how welcoming and sweet she was that I completely forgot that getting waxed is usually painful. The 20 minute appointment felt more like a coffee date with a best friend. When Jenascia was finished, I saw that she had transformed my ‘pioneer woman beauty sensibilities’ into a ‘modern woman with a dirty little secret’. Getting waxed always makes me feel very nervous and I was beyond impressed with how easy and relatively painless the entire process was. I highly recommend this salon and especially Jenascia for all your waxing needs. She’s beautiful, sweet, and ridiculously fast at transforming any Ford into a Ferrari!

I dropped my lady off at set salon to get her hair done. Little did I know she had also scheduled a waxing appointment with Jenascia. We were so pleased with Jenascia’s work that we already booked another appointment for next month. Thanks Jenascia for keeping my lady’s south-​mouth clean and tidy!

I am visiting the Seattle area and realized I would need a haircut while j was in town. My friend referred me to Set and im so glad she did!!! Robyn gave me a truly amazing cut and style. She took the time to really get to know me, and what I wanted. This cut was important to me because I am having photos taken Monday. Now, I’m truly looking forward to them. Thanks Robyn!!!
I went back the next day to get my first ever lip wax. Jenascia was the bomb! She was super cool, laid back, and did great work. She did not hurt at all, and my lip was only red for about 30 minutes.

I just got my hair cut las night at Set Salon and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! I found out about this quaint, cozy salon from a friend who recommended it to me then I checked out the reviews on Unilocal and figured I would give it a try.
I was SOOOOO nervous going into this because I had decided to cut 10 INCHES off my hair to donate to Locks of Love and I hadn’t had my hair that short in years. Robyn took the time to reassure me about how long it would be after we cut it and how it would look once it was styled. There was no judgement from her even though I cried a little bit while it was happening. :)
Robyn was so fun to talk to as well as very informative about teaching me a few tricks to get the look I wanted with my hair. She was also told me about a few products that might help but wasn’t pushy at all about getting me to buy them. She even stayed with me AN HOUR after the salon had closed to make sure my haircut was JUST what I wanted. Talk about excellent customer service!
Overall, I was VERY impressed by this salon. It has a very professional yet personal feel to it and I would recommend it to anyone. I will also be going back for any future hair cuts and their complementary bang trims!

Jenascia, the waxing goddess at SET Salon, is amazing! After a bad experience at a previous salon, I went to SET after being recommended by a friend. Jenascia demonstrates cleanliness and efficiency. I’m never worried that any item she uses on me is unsanitary. She also has a swift yet gentle hand, so the hair removal process is as painless as possible.
I also had my lashes tinted by Jenascia, which I LOVED! My eyes weren’t sensitive from using mascara, and I felt way more confident without makeup.
I have definitely found my go-​to pro for all things Lashes & Waxing, and that’s Jenascia at SET Salon.

I want to update my last review to include Sarah’s wonderful new stylists — Robyn and Jenascia. I have worked with both of them over the last few months. I’ve been with Sarah for a while now because she is amazing and was excited at the prospect of getting brows done with my hair appointment and also at having another expert resource for my hair.
Jenascia did a really beautiful job with my brows — keeping them looking natural and not too thin. I plan to go in for brow tinting to make them look even more fabulous.
Robyn is absolutely fantastic, too, and is a wonderful complement to Sarah’s vibe. I had both a special occasion blowout/​style and a cut/​color with Robyn. She is fun, creative and very current which I love! Her color was perfect an her cut was great! What I really enjoy about Robyn in particular is what she teaches you about your hair. Both Sarah and Robyn are great at this which is why I LOVE going here instead of the big salons who tend to move you through like cattle.
Robyn’s tips added new styles to my toolkit that I love. She has also shown me how to extend my style for extra days between shampoos which saves me a ton of time and I honestly never would have believed I could do it. I love having these kids of tips and tricks for my busy schedule.
These ladies are expert, smart, fun and delightful to work with! I highly recommend all of them. :)

Best hair experience I have had in Seattle! Robyn did perfect job with my hair color and haircut. I am looking forward to see her again.

My husband and I both go to Sarah at set and love her. The salon is super cute and the service is great. A men’s hair it is $ 45 and women services are $ 60 and up.
We live downtown so this is a perfect spot for us for quality and location.
