Seattle Public Library – Lake City Branch

One of my favorite branches. Always quiet, and calm, unlike some branches of SPL.
The staff/​volunteers are super kind and helpful. They are quick and efficient, and really know their stuff.
The kids are is neat and clean, with a good selection of books and activities, plus special programs throughout the month.
Street parking and underground parking are available.

I’ve had better service from the volunteers here than at some of Seattle’s most popular restaurants! THANK YOU

The recent renovations here are nice. I grew up near this library, they have a huge selection of books and many computer you can use. Also they have public wifi
Every year they even have people upstairs to help you with you taxes.

In Richard Florida’s book «The Rise of The Creative Class» the famous social researcher draws a correlation between access to libraries and the prosperity of a city. Seattle has for a long period of time been touted as a prime example of the abundance of a creative class which innovates and keeps ideas flowing.
Lake City is pretty much as far as you can get in Seattle while still being in the city. The Library however is a prime example of what keeps Seattle the great city it is. The library itself is decent sized and has a dedicated group of staff. They are are and willing to help out patrons and host a number of community events in the library. Furthermore, the building acts as a community center, in the area of which on Thursdays there is a Farmers market, where local growers come to sell fresh produce.
The Lake City library is a credit to ideals of education and community awareness that many cities could envy. The parking lot is a little weird, however it’s not too bad.

Staff here are lovely! The parking garage has really narrow spots and the elevator you *have* to take (I can’t use the stairs??) is totally sketchy. Just remember to use hand sanitizer and you’ll be fine.
