Denied refresh course.
Took this class in 2009 paid the full price of $ 325. Shortly after completing the class I got a new job outside of the restaurant industry and never completed the final test since I was no longer a bartender. Now that I would like to go back and get a refresh I am denied and will need to pay full price. I would think a life-​time promise would include anyone who paid full price. Or allow me to take the test and pass. Just not pleased and wish I saved my money.

Loved it, loved it, loved it! It was so much fun and I learned so much. I came in with no liqueur knowledge. I took the two week course and Jolene was a blast to learn from. We even got some history behind drinks and certain brands. Funny real life bartender stories and boy was there a lot to learn. Even though I’m done she still is continuing helping me find a job and help with my resume. Great follow through. Would recommend this to everyone.

This class has been absolutely invaluable to me. I took it for fun and little did I know I would end up using it as my main source of income.
I took the one week intensive and got a bartending job for only about a month before leaving because I was in school at the time. Months passed before I was free to get another job but I was able to come back to the school and brush up (they let you come in any time after taking the courses!!). Between school and multiple moves it would be long stretches between taking bartending jobs but I was always able to adapt to the different types of places (restaurant, nightclubs, catering) because the teachers here had given such a thorough coverage of what to expect. Knowing the drinks and having the muscle memory for grabbing glassware/​mixing/​etc. made it so much easier to adjust to the preferences of my new employers. I feel very competent behind the bar now, even improvising as necessary. My current boss actually has me training our new bartenders because she likes my way so much. I learned it all here!

DONT SIGN UP FOR THIS UNLESS YOUR ALREADY WORKING IN A RESTAURANT OR BAR!!! i found it impossible to find a job after finishing the class. the class was great and helpful but biggest wait of $ 500 since its been 2 years and i still havnt been able to get a bartending job since i dont have restaurant experience. they said they would help me find a job after but since i dont live in seattle (i live in marysville) they said they couldnt help me and no refund.

Quality stuff.
The one– or two-​week class is real professional training. I thought this would be a lightweight class, frankly, but was very surprised to find it was intense, in-​depth and quite good. Tons of hands-​on experience and real world insight from the teachers. You will work hard but you’ll learn a lot and enjoy doing it probably.

My mom and I decided to get our Class 12 permits together and enrolled at Seattle Bartending College. What a ride! The instructor was hilarious and extremely knowledgeable, and the lessons were designed to give us as much practice as possible. I couldn’t believe how much we could do by the end of the week. I feel confident that the skills I learned at SBC will be key in my new career path.

I reserved my spot into the class a couple weeks before I started, and to be honest, I wasn’t very enthusiastic about going. I wasn’t in need of a job, or a huge desire to become a bartender. I signed up for the course to learn how to mix drinks for parties that I host. I expected it to be a classroom setting, sort of like the lab classes you see in high schools or college.
This was not the case.
When I attended the course, this outlook totally changed. After the first class, I was super stoked to start learning more. And the idea of getting a job bartending became very appealing. The class is set up very much like a bar. There is no formal looking classroom, desks, or chalkboards like I had expected. Instead there is a huge wall of bottles to help you become familiar with how a bar works, and the different types of liquors. They have all the equipment to make the training realistic, and most importantly fun! We jammed to awesome music while mixing drinks during practice, and it really felt like we were at a bar mixing drinks!
The staff was great. They answered all my questions, even when I was afraid they might have been dumb or insignificant. They also had plenty of funny stories and jokes to tell, bit more importantly they had plenty of experiences to tell us about to help us in the job field.
I highly recommend taking the two week course. I took the one week course, and ended up having to cram study to learn all the recipes before the test. You will learn an amazing amount of drink recipes, so it’s much easier to absorb all of it in a longer amount of time. You will also have one weekend to study over it, a luxury I didn’t have.
After attending this course, my friends now want to go. I have been making drinks for them and they get excited just hearing me talk about the experience at the school. I look forward to going back and training more with them. Thanks guys!

I attended this school a while back, in 2005, at that time I was employed as a casino dealer at a Native Casino. Since then, I moved onto Vegas, still as a casino dealer and not step foot behind a bar.
There a few things I like about Bartending College, and a few things that I didn’t really like. I didn’t like the drive, since I lived all the way in Tacoma. There wasn’t really any other Bartending school around the Tacoma area at the time. So after school has finished, it was kind of hard for me to travel to get job leads. Unfortunately the biggest city looking for bartenders was in the Seattle area. Again, living in Tacoma at that time, was a bit disappointing when it comes down to long commutes.
Now my experience, despite the long commute. I came here cause, from my understanding, its the best, so I had to try them out. The school was in a nice area, and the place was very clean. I was able to get a good understanding on what is what, when it comes down to alcohol, where it goes and how to mix drinks. It was a two weeks course, which was brutal on the gas and driving. But with that put aside, and this being one of the best schools out there. I went through it, got the knowledge on being a mixologist and pass.
The staff was great, I do applaud their patience with all these new students every week. They made sure we had hands on training, and made it comfortable to understand where everything is, and what a bartender is expected of them. They are experience themselves and they have a good knowledge of making us understand from their experiences.
They did offer flairing classes, and at that time, I was interested. Learned how to juggle bottles, and try to make it look fancy. To me, I think your better off doing it at home and watching DVDs, especially if your coming from a long commute.
I would recommend this, if your near the area, if you don’t mind the commute to whatever leads they may have. I did learn how to mix drink and understand the duties of a bartender, which is probably important, if you want to become a bartender. Unfortunately I haven’t stepped behind the bar ever since, but who knows what you’ll get.
