It was easy and the scooter and instructions were easy to understand/​use. We had a great time driving around town. The staff was nice and helpful as well — orienting us to the traffic laws/​culture of Seattle. They do have a lot of rules and things they can charge you for (add others have mentioned), but it’s all to prevent their losses in case you’re a dumb ass. So don’t be a dumb ass and your won’t be charged.
It’s a really great way to see the city, so get out and have fun!

I’ve taken my bike to them for everything; fuel lines, throttle cable, new battery, new tires, and carb work. The whole team knows exactly what they’re doing and I’ve experience nothing less than sturdy, quick bike work and great customer service. Thanks guys!

I wish there was a zero star. After 2 weeks of being in the shop, I called to check and was told «there’s a broken gasket, we can’t find the replacement part. I’ll call you back in an hour with update». So I googled it, and found the part within 60 seconds, ordered it, and had it shipped to my place.
3 days later, when they called back, they told me scooter is ready, (they used some gasket seal instead). They also told me it’s not running right. When I picked it up, they said it’s running but it’s ‘sputtery’. To me, that’s not fixed! He told me I asked for a carb clean, which is what they did. I didn’t ask them to trouble shoot the fuel system. I told them «you’re the mechanics, I want a fixed scooter». The guy shrugged.
FYI, 2 weeks later, and I am on my way to drop off my scooter at another place, to get it FIXED. Please avoid Scoot About.

Scoot About has made our vacations to Seattle a lot more fun and memorable. My wife and I both have motorcycles, but we love the fun and convenience of bopping around the city on scooters. Zipping through the cobblestone alleys is a blast, and sure are able to squeeze into more parking zones.
We are repeat customers. Scoot About has always been courteous and helpful. We utilize their 5pm to 5pm option so that we have 2 separate days to explore. This past week, after picking up the Sym Cali Classic 125 and Blur 220, we rode up to Kerry Park to enjoy the best scenic vista available. Then the next morning we took the Ferry to Bainbridge Island and explored that area (reviews to come). We rode for hours and had a great lunch and best ice-​cream ever.
Yes, we will be back!!!

Just brought my 2007 Buddy in for minor check-​up and they did a wonderful job. They didn’t overcharge me and were very knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

AWESOME customer service! The owner was incredibly kind and opened up his store 10 minutes after they’d already closed so that we could return our rental (which we were hesitant to leave on our street at night…). He went out of his way for us.
Incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. So grateful to them for making our Seattle trip so memorable.

I started bringing my Honda Metro here a couple years back and I still count on Scoot About. My other place was all the way in Lake City and having a scooter repair place closer to where I live is a god send.
I had a scooter stolen last fall and replaced it with one I could afford since my insurance didnt cover the entire value (I clicked deductible and not coverage online– oops! big mistake!) Unfortunately, that scooter company went out of business and when there were issues with the clutch and belt there was no warranty to cover it and parts were impossible to find. Susan, the owner, worked with me diligently to rectify the situation as I had only bought it months before. She figured out a solution by replacing the engine with an older one at no cost to me except some labor and had me driving again in a few days.
Fast forward to this summer and that scooter got knocked over so violently (by who knows who– I curse them!) 2 X in over 2 months it wouldn’t start. My insurance totalled out the scooter and I just bought a brand new Buddy International 50.
Thanks for having my back Scoot About! The peppy-​er scooter runs like a charm!

I came here with friends on Labor Day weekend. We rented for about 3 hours and paid $ 65 per scooter. They also have a $ 300 security deposit for each one, but the money is returned in a few business days.
Note: You are fully responsible for these scooters! You break, you pay so be extra careful! My boyfriend left his scooter unattended with the kickstand on. Out of nowhere, the scooter fell! He had to replace a few things which came up to about $ 100.
If you’re a beginner, it’s pretty scary at first. But if you know how to ride a bike then you should be good to go. The scooters’ average speed is about 35 – 40 mph.
Overall, it was an amazing experience! We rode all around downtown Seattle. Definitely one to check off your bucket list.

everything was perfect, the only reason i am not giving them a five star is because of the fact that they do not provide a rental insurance, similar to the car rental companies. they do provide a lock for the scooter which is pretty good. if they had the rental insurance for my peace of mind, it would have been a complete service. aside all of that, every one was friendly and very helpful and I DO RECOMMEND THEM IF YOU ARE IN THE DOWNTOWN SEATTLE AREA.

Sign on the door says open on Sundays, and they said I could buy a scooter but that I couldn’t take it with me until Tuesday. (They aren’t set up to do licensing and the employees on the floor weren’t empowered to make decisions without the owner who wasn’t around on the weekends.
They did let me use their restroom, that was nice of them, but all else was bad. I had cash in my pocket to buy a scooter and they wouldn’t let me. Instead of trying to ask me questions to see how they could make it work with my schedule, they just said «no.»
So, I went to Seattle Cycle and bought a scooter. They sold it to me. I thought that’s what stores did. :)

My wife and I came in from out of town and wanted to find a way to get around and a little out of town without worrying about the traffic renting a car would bring or more public transit to far off neighborhoods.
It was totally awesome — We picked them up in Lower Queen Anne — A great location in the city, very centralized. First we took the ferry to Bainbridge Island and jetted around there for most of the day — Less populated, low speed limits and all the pretty that comes with Washington foliage. Bledsoe Reserve was fantastic, and the other little shops were cool too!
Great little scooters, totally affordable (especially if you keep them overnight for an extra 10 bucks).
The only reason they didn’t get a ⁵⁄₅ was customer service. The gentlemen that showed us the scooters and signed all the paperwork was trying to be nice, but wasn’t pulling it off well. My wife is a novice rider who he made more nervous than confident with his comments while showing us the bikes. Everyone else working there looked to pretty well hate their jobs, which was a little bit of a bummer. Maybe they had a not so great week.
Rent scooters from these guys! It’s totally awesome.

Called three times they hung up on me at all three attempts. Moving on…

After needing a few parts for my Stella, Scoot About is the place to go. They are now the Genuine Scooter dealer in the Seattle area. They have been fair in their prices and have what I need in stock. I feel they have turned a corner when it comes to scooter parts and scooterist needs. I have not rented any scooters from them, but I hear they are the place to rent from. The staff is super helpful and more than willing to give me a hand when it comes to my scoot. Good peeps at Scoot About. Check ‘em out!

I’ve been to Scoot About now twice; once to buy a battery and once to have my tire fixed. Their new location on First Ave is doing them well and they were very busy the second time I came in. The service and help I have been given here is very good and professional. They seem to be quite busy with rentals and servicing scooters so if you plan on getting your scooter fixed you might want to call ahead for the wait time. One person came in to get their tire replaced and they were giving them a dates weeks out. Myself has had perfect service here and pretty good rates. Convenient location for me and good scooter selection to boot.

Backstory: Seattle woman laments the fact that she hasn’t been able to take her beloved, but broken scooter out for a ride in over two years. Resourceful fiancé tows her 2-​wheel over to Scoot About for repairs as an early Christmas present.
They did a fabulous job rebuilding the carburetor and performing all of the tune up work on my Yamaha Vino and gave me several pointers on things I could do myself to keep it in tip-​top shape.
I’m so thrilled to have Gunther Miyamoto home again! Why yes, my scooter has a name — because it’s a little bit Japanese, a little goth/​industrial/​German. Doesn’t everyone nickname their vehicles?
Anyway, Scoot About saved the day (with a little help from Lowside Towing and my fiancé). I will definitely take him back again for future services (Gunther, not the fiancé of course).

Kevin D. is right in his 1-​star review – scooting is really fun and this 5* review has everything to do with that. We wandered by on foot after riding the South Lake Union Trolley (S.L.U.T.) and getting some Serious Biscuit brunch, and I am so glad that we did. The guy who helped us was courteous but firm, meaning that he went through his whole checklist and legal spiel before letting us scoot about (est. 20 minutes) and there was no discount involved.
But damn if that wasn’t some of the most fun $ 35 ever spent. (thanks gf) Scooting by Alley 24 was fun, finding the way to Vivace in Capitol Hill was challenging, and heading down to SODO was just jaw-​droppingly beautiful. We scooted past the Great Wheel (overrated, overpriced) and around the Seattle Center just in time to make it back after getting lost thanks to extensive road closures and construction around the Yesler Way Shell station.
The gear seemed really solid and going 35 seemed to be plenty enough on the 49cc. If you’ve got two riders, hills can be slow, but whatever. Go rent a scooter.

I had nothing but horrible experiences here. I brought my bike here for simple tune up, oil change etc. When I came to pick it up, all the sudden it wouldn’t start. They told me to come back the next day. Same thing happened. Day three finally my bike started. They couldn’t tell me what was wrong or what they did to break it. Having your oil changed has nothing to do with taking apart my transmission.
After talking to three different service people they admitted that whoever was working on my bike was new and didn’t know what they were doing.
They bent my shift fork as well as doing other damage to my bike. I don’t recommend using them for any real labor as they are not experienced in anything but new vespas.

This is seriously the best way to get around town. Get here early morning (they open at 10am), take a quick 10 min lesson on the scooters, sign on the dotted line, and away you goooo! It’s about $ 80 for a full day rental, be sure to bring the scooter back at least 15 mins before they close at 6pm.
I went everywhere on this thing. Discovery Park, Pike’s Place, Space Needle, & to the Seattle Aquarium. Parking was a breeze at Pike’s Place, we found a small crevice right next to a restaurant and parked there at no charge. The drivers in Seattle weren’t reckless like they are in Los Angeles, so I didn’t feel scared at all the whole day (granted I was riding on the back with a seasoned scooter operator). At the end of the day you have to bring the scooter back with a full tank. After all that driving around and exploring we did, we only filled up about $ 1.80. Sweeeet!!!
The only con is that no matter where we went we had to carry one helmet around since only one helmet fit in the seat compartment-​totally worth it though. Customer service was excellent, we got here early on a sunny Thursday and there were plenty of scooters to rent.

They close at 6pm. I called in twice to confirm that they had available scooters. The guy I spoke to said «Yeah we have them here for you, come on by.» Called in again around 3pm, same answer. Two of my friends and I showed up just after 4pm. We run inside so stoked on life ready to cruise the streets of downtown Seattle on scooters on the 4^th of July. AND THEN… No! No scooters for us unless we were willing to ride for 15 min. WTF! So the guy said oh. theres orientation and that takes 10 or 15 min. then some other person walks in and says no orientation takes 25 min and you have to bring the scooter back by 5:30pm. Maybe, you should tell your customers that you can’t rent a scooter after 4 pm when they call! Whats up with the 6pm closing time when you have to bring the scooter back 5:30!!! Banks close at 6pm! They let people in until… 6pm!
If there was a CHECK OUT button, I would have clicked it. My hopes and dreams were shattered. One star cuz i got a free Hansen’s Soda… it was warm by the way.

Terrible Customer Service. Un-​Reliable. This place has 5 star reviews because of the actual experience, scooting. I am not doubting that, I am writing about the customer service…
Wow, this place needs new management or something. I purchased a Livingsocial deal through these people AND could not redeem it, even if I tried.
Obviously, there are «Rules and Restrictions» to these type of deals. I understand that. However, it is not acceptable for me to call 9 times total, during business hours, leave a message twice, and talk to a representative/​worker once, and STILL not be able to make a reservation.
It was not that there were no reservation spots available – simply, no one answered the phone or returned my message. I called 9 times, over a 3 week span, before the expiration date of my Livingsocial deal.
On the 7^th phone call, I left a long detail message, trying to set up a reservation. No return phone call.
On the 9^th time, I spoke to a worker. He informed me that he «did not know much about the deal.» And that I had to talk to «the lady who knows about the deal.» Well, he took my name and number and promised a phone call back. I am still waiting for that phone call, 4 weeks later.
My deal is over, no one will call me back, and I just wasted 2 scooter reservation prices, simply because this place would not answer my phone calls, return my messages, know pertinent information to their business, or provide any sort of customer service whatsoever.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. If they treat their customers this way, they don’t deserve your business.
