History

Established in 1962.

Founded by the Sagland family this business has had three owning families. The Anderson clan was second in line, and in 2000 the Kvithammer-Berger family bought the store and currently operates the business from its location at 6719 15th ave NW Seattle WA 98 117. The store has survived the gradual de-Scandinavianizing of the local neighborhood and is currently the only business in Seattle offering this selection of goods and services. Although the community of Ballard has a long history of particularly Norwegian habitation many customers travel from outside of the city to find the specialty items they are looking for. As well Scandinavian Specialties ships around the country and will happily send some Lutefisk to you in Florida.

Meet the Manager

Bjorn R.

Manager

I am a Norwegian American and proud to offer you a connection to our mutual Scandinavian heritage. My family owns this business and it is a privilege to be involved in keeping traditions alive. I am fond of chatting with our customers, often in Norwegian, and enjoy being involved with the larger Scandinavian community. I hope to see you soon!
