For a local mini mart these guys have saved me countless times! They have a great selection for random stuff I need at home, good cat litter(not the cheap stuff most mini marts have), a huge selection of food, granted its not grocery store food but a million times better than the 711 around the corner. I love the family that owns this store! It’s a older couple with their two daughters and son and they don’t take crap from anyone! Obviously be careful in this area after dark, locals lovingly refer to it as the Murder Mart or the Stab & Grab!

I live nearby and walk everywhere so this store has become my primary source for many things. The prices are reasonable, the selection is decent, and the employees are awesome. The fried foods available actually taste good. Recently they added fountain drinks as well. The only drawback is the collection of drunks and dealers that congregate in front because of it’s location.

Ahh, Saveway. Or MurderMart, as we call it at work. It’s just right THERE. It has all the random stuff we need for more than I’d like to pay, but with the convenience of being 40ish paces away. I always get my newspaper there(strictly for the crossword puzzle, of course), and the gal who’s always working the counter is unfailingly nice. I don’t see how she does it as the store is constantly swarming with crackheads, tweakers, and wasted old guys hoping to score some beer. I suppose working downtown you grow used to this — like when a crazy guy threatened to kill me outside MurderMart, no biggie. Anyhow, Saveway has all kinds of random stuff in addition to your usual convenience store snacks. They have a hot case with some deep-fried edibles. They have socks and lighters. They have toothpaste and Tylenol(behind the counter, duh), Solo cups and car air fresheners, good beer and power bars. And no shortage of «colorful Pioneer Square life.» I love thee, Saveway.

This is like a Mom and Pop’s 7 – 11 style market where people frequently walk in off of the streets and ask why they have to buy a six pack instead of a 40… On the positive end, it’s convenience store and there are a few items that you might not expect to find like canned chipotle peppers, tapatio(mmm…great on popcorn), etc. On the negative end, like all convenience stores, almost everything is overpriced… It is what it is…

This market is so old… I remember stopping by here as a kid to pick up a loaf of dollar bread to feed the birds in Occidental Park. It’s your run of the mill cliché Asian owned mini market. The isles are a little dusty, the shelves are stocked with long shelf life products and a lot of the homeless come here to pick up their malt liquor. They also have a little heat lamp box where they sell assorted fried pieces of chicken, fried burritos, and fried corn dogs. Whenever I stop by Tat’s, Dome burger, Soup Daddy’s or Pizza Pro’s, I in veritably step outside and am kind of comforted that small businesses like this stay open and get hit with a bit of nostalgia. Every now and again when I break down and buy a pack of Camel’s, I always buy them here. Man, those fried burritos are bad for you… but so good…
