SASG Seattle Area Support Groups Christmas Tree Lot

Awesome trees and awesome people. They are in a parking lot on Capitol Hill and the trees are super fresh. The volunteers are awesome and it is easy to find a great tree and they’ll even put on top of your car. Plus you can feel good about giving back a little!

All the trees are beautiful and it’s for a great cause. This is my second year getting a tree here, we’ll be back again next year.

Awesome place, especially for the middle of Seattle. The only thing that I would say is that they’re a bit expensive. A 5 – 6 foot tree costs about $ 75. But, at least you know that some of your money is going to a good cause. :)

Never had a real Christmas tree before. Went for the first time last year, returned this year, will return again until I no longer live in the area.

Why wouldn’t you go to SASG for your tree?

Yesterday I checked out two other fundraiser lots that I usually go to. At the first the selection wasn’t great. I couldn’t find even one that I could consider buying. The second, where I bought the past two years, no one was around to help me. There was a one guy dragging in trees. One woman standing around. And another guy who was assisting people — that is everyone but me even though I was the first to arrive. I left in frustration.
I googled for «Fundraiser Christmas Trees Seattle» and this Unilocal review was the first result. This lot location isn’t the most convenient for me. And at that point I was frustrated and didn’t feel much in the mood to look at more trees and have more disappointment. But I bucked up and drove over. Boy am I glad I did!
There were tons of volunteers working here. And everyone, I mean EVERYONE, was super friendly — greeting me, asking if I needed help and just sounding happy! I ended up having 3 people help me. Even though there were plenty of other customers, they just had that many people available to assist.
They listened to what I was looking for and quickly cut the ties on trees for me to look at. The lot is very well lit. And I found the perfect tree within 5 minutes. I was able to pay with Square. They did a nice even cut of the base. And right away two guys were available to tie it to my roof — which they did very well and very quickly.
On top of it all they loosely binded the tree again. This made it much easier to carry and much cleaner. Usually I have to vacuum my steps after carrying the tree up to the main floor of my townhouse. This time there were only a few needles that could easily be picked up.
I did get a Douglas, which is cheaper than the other varieties. I don’t know why. I’m sure it’ll do the job just fine. And that Douglas, which is a perfect shape, perfect height, and sooooo enjoyable to buy cost less than any of the trees of the same size at either of the other lots I’ve gone to.
From now on, I will go straight to this lot. And you can bet I will be telling all my friends to do the same!

So glad we found this place and while we weren’t expecting to spend $ 70 on a tree (it’s a big beautiful noble!) I am absolutely glad we did. HIghly recommend supporting these guys!

I just got the most perfect apartment sized tree here.
For a measly $ 19.
And something like 65% of the money you spend here goes to AIDS charities? Well… I almost wish I got a bigger/​fancier tree! (Not really though, the cats are having enough of a problem adjusting to my wee little 3 foot Douglas Fir).
Everyone working here is also sickeningly nice. From the handy guys showing you the trees, the woman trimming your stump, the guy you give your $ to and the folks who tie it to the top of your car. SUPER DUPER nice.
So, get a tree. Help fight AIDS/​HIV. Meet some nice, down to earth peoples.
This place is a total win in my book.

This is one of the best places in Seattle to get your Christmas tree. Revenues go to help support a local Seattle support group for the AIDS community.
All volunteer-​run and everyone is super cheerful. They loved our dog Eliot — he got sooo much attention.
Trees run $ 60 – 100 depending on what size and species you want. They also sell wreathed and garlands.
Get your family and your truck/​van to dunshee house to get your Christmas tree this season. You won’t be disappointed :)

Our family loves this place, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s a 5 minute walk away from our house. The guy who helped us out this year seemed so happy to be there, in thirty-​degree weather (beyond me; even I was in a less-​than-​pleasant mood, and I had only been out of the house for 15 minutes), which set him apart from the other tree vendors we had ever seen elsewhere, but not from the other people at this place. Everyone is always so jolly and spirited, and, as everyone has said, the proceeds going to the SASG is another significant benefit that we feel good about. We’ve been going here for 7 years, and will continue to as long as we live nearby.

The volunteers were very nice and helpful and I got an adorable 4.5′ tree for only $ 25! (plus $ 15 for the stand, optional). They also let me take home a bunch of FREE clippings which I used to make an adorable wreath (if I do say so myself). Quick and easy and many great trees and (pre-​made) wreaths and garlands to choose from. WIll definitely return next year!

Make all your dollars count this holiday season, and buy your Christmas tree HERE! 65% of the monies used by the house (to support those with HIV/​AIDS) is raised by THIS annual tree sale! Amazing!
The trees are a tiny bit more than other places but remember where your money goes. We picked up a 5′ tree (went small this year) and a beautiful wreath for $ 65 :)
Parking is available on the street, and when you walk into their lot, you’re greeted so warmly, you don’t need the hot chocolate or coffee that they offer to shoppers inside :) You’ll also notice the trees are superior quality. You really are picking the best of the BEST here. The man who helped us said that the trees came in just hours before; he then picks one out for us, cuts the binding rope saying, «I have a feeling that this is a good one.» Poof. The tree unfurls and wouldn’t you know it, that’s the tree we picked ^_​^
Once you pick up your tree, pull your vehicle around to their load zone and they will tie it down for you/​load your truck.
Seriously, everybody was so nice and helpful! The spirit of the season is here; don’t miss out!

Buy a Tree and Help a Fight HIV/​AIDS
Ok all you seattlites who need a tree for Christmas. Check out the SASG/​Dunshee House lot in Capitol Hill. They have a variety of sizes in Norway Firs, Noble Firs, Spruces, and more. They also have a wreaths and garlands you can buy. AND for those of you that just want a small table top tree (aka charlie brown) — they have those too! No matter what, your home will smell like a pine forest through the holidays. The guys will help you mount the tree to your car and you can be on your way. The best part is that the proceeds help to support a great cause.

We get our Christmas tree here every year. Love these guys. Very knowledgable and helpful, and it’s for a great cause.

We buy our tree here every year. This year we chose a 7′ tree, took it home (8 blocks), and it looked positively dinky under our 10′ ceilings. I drove the tree back and they exchanged it for a bigger tree, no problem, even though they had to heft both trees around in the freezing cold, and saw off the end of the new tree for us.
Great customer service, great trees, and a great cause!
Hard to beat that.

Although yesterday was «Buy Nothing Day» for many people, I couldn’t resist buying a few things. I got some disgusting but useful Umcka ColdCare tincture from Rainbow, some delicious and also super useful shredded chicken noodle soup from Szechuan Noodle Bowl, and on the final stop of the day… a small, puffy, slightly crooked and pretty adorable christmas tree from Dunshee House’s lot.
I always had a tree growing up, but when I got old and moved out on my own I went through a very long period of treelessness for whatever stupid Scrooge-​like reason. Since Sweets and I have been together, he’s really reawakened the holiday spirit in my dark, cobwebby heart. We’ve gone here for the past few years to get our tree and it’s always been a great experience. This year, we decided to go early so we’d have a good selection and would get to enjoy our beautiful green friend for a long time.
When we arrived, there were minimal crowds and there seemed to be a good selection. We were approached by a nice man who helped us find what we were looking for; although he said there wouldn’t be a big delivery of the size we were looking for until later that night, he still looked around with us until we found a perfect, cute, and fairly inexpensive tree. We quickly paid for it in a warm office full of other stuff you might need (tree stands, tree bags, wreaths…) and the staff all gathered around our car in the blocked-​off parking spaces out front to collectively tether the tree to the car. There was a lot of banter («Can I tie a knot? Honey, I was in the NAVY.») but we were quickly off to set up our tree at home.
Great place, great cause, great selection, great experience. I know there are a lot of worthy charity tree lots in the area, which is lucky for us, but I really love it here.

I’ve gone to the SAGG/​Dunshee house for the last couple of years and am going again this year! They’ve got a good selection of trees — I usually get a Douglas Fir — that last through the New Year.
Plus helping out this great non-​profit over the Holidays is much better than buying your tree from Home Depot or another big vendor.

So they changed their name back to SASG (to be less confusing, but I don’t know how well that is working!). Either way though — this will be our fifth year buying our tree from SASG/​Dunshee House. Always love the staff and volunteers, great selection, love that proceeds are going to a great organization. See you Saturday evening — keep a good 5 – 6 foot Noble Fraser tucked away for us!

If you live in Seattle, there is no better place to grab a tree than the Dunshee House. Apart from all the proceeds going to the house, the tree selection here is excellent. We bought our 6′ tree last year and it was affordable and the guys there super helpful. We’re going back tonight to get one for this year! This place rocks!
