Salon Mercury currently has 6 stylists available to perform a variety of services, including: haircuts for men, women and children, all over color and high/​lowlights, Brazilian Blowouts, perms and updos.

History

Established in 2014.

Salon Mercury is the result of a merger between the Sugarcomb Salon (established 2008) and Deluxe Hair (established 2005).

In April of 2014, we moved our co-​op style team from our previous location at 73rd & Linden to our amazing new space right in the heart of the Phinneywood neighborhood.

Business Owner

Sean has a long history in the salon industry, starting in downtown Seattle. He attended the Greenwood Academy and opened the Sugarcomb Salon in 2008. Sean is a local neighborhood resident who lives walking distance from Salon Mercury.

I’ve been getting my haircut from Salon Mercury owner, Sean, since 2009, back when it was still called Sugarcomb Salon. I think it was Easter Sunday and I just walked in. Even though he had a family engagement to attend, he still took me in and gave me a nice cut that wasn’t rushed.
Since then, I’ve recommended Sean to several of my own clients because he takes the time to listen to the kind of haircut or hairstyle you want, as well as what you have going on in your life (big events, vacations, wedding, etc.) that might need to be factored in. His technical ability is outstanding – I’ve never been nervous in his chair.
Beyond that, Sean is just a really friendly person. I enjoy visiting him, and haircuts feel more like catching up with a friend than a regular service. For a little more than what you’d pay for a men’s haircut at a local chain, I feel Sean delivers much better service and overall experience.

Erin LITERALLY saved my wedding day. I came in on my wedding day because I had let my brother-​in-​law give me a quick trim, which went predictably wrong. She squeezed me in to her schedule and fixed the mistake beautifully. Thank you and can’t wait to come in for my next cut!

I’ve been following Isabella around Seattle for years, and I am so happy she’s back in Greenwood! This review is well overdue, but I was simply shocked when I saw this place only had 3 reviews! They do a fantastic job here, and Isabella always surprises me when I come in with a half-​formed idea, and leave with a major confidence boost, and of course, a lovely cut. Thank you, Isabella!

Someone draft a press release… I have news! I’ve had two (now three!) very successful haircuts in a row by the same person! God bless Sean at Salon Mercury :) Each visit to the salon has been a joy — Sean is super nice and funny and definitely knows his way with some scissors! I’m really glad that my decade long search for an awesome hair dresser has finally come to a successful close.

I decided to visit Sean at Salon Mercury after reaching out to several friends for recommendations. I received recommendations for several salons in Seattle, but went with Sean because 1) the friends that recommended him have great hair styles and 2) the price is reasonable ($ 50) for an experienced stylist (who is also the owner).
I can’t say enough good things about Sean. He is a nice guy, easy to talk to, has great skills, and offered some helpful styling suggestions to help me after listening to me explain the frustrations I have with my bangs. I came in wanting straight across bangs, but he courteously explained why that look wouldn’t be as flattering as deeper and longer side bangs. The best part was that he didn’t rush me to make a decision. He started cutting the rest of my hair first while I had some time to decide, which totally removed any pressure of making a decision on the spot. When it came time to decide he even pulled in another stylist for a second opinion. I got a lot of personal attention and I was valued as a client. I ended up going with the side bangs as Sean suggested. The best part is I really love my haircut — from the moment he finished styling it to now (three weeks later). I have wavy hair and the way he cut it works well both when I style it wavy and straight, which has never happened for me before. Thank you, Sean, for fixing my love-​hate relationship with my bangs! I will definitely be back!

First time at this new salon and I have no complaints. I’ve been following Ingrid around Seattle for years, and she’s now at Salon Mercury so here I am! Can’t trust anyone else with my hair. Cut and color today :)
The salon itself is a nice neighborhood salon, staff seems friendly and the place is clean and spacious. Ample (free) parking within a few blocks, and a convenient location on Greenwood Ave.
