History

Established in 1998.

The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory franchise started in Durango, CO in 1981. Since then the franchise has grown to over 300 stores in the United States and Canada. The Feins own 2 franchises in Seattle — the one near Pike Place and one in Pioneer Square. They love the fun and excitement of making the confections right in front of the customers, so they can interact and share their love of chocolate.

We have been involved with the chocolate business for 20 years, and love sharing our products. We feel that the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Franchise provides us with the best medium to do that. We give samples all the time — the best way to show our customers how good our product is. Before we opened our first retail store we were involved in direct marketing of our farm products — mostly berries and pumpkins — in the Yakima Valley. For 13 years we brought our produce and jams sold them at Pike Place Market, so when we found a retail location near the Market we knew it was the right place for us. Ken and Sandi are active in the business, along with their daughter, Carolyn and son-​in-​law, Ian. Please come in and meet us and our managers and staff.

Love this place. Every time I pass by I have to stop in and get something. So much good stuff. Chocolate for days. Carmel apples are delicious. Ice cream is also great. Customer service is always so friendly.

This place is great. It is not uniquely Seattle, but they have a beautiful presentation of many sweet treats from caramel and candy apples to cookies, ice cream and fudge. I love the dipped marshmallows. They are a nice small treat that won’t ruin you lunch or dinner appetite. Anything else, then get it to go. There is a reason the items are pricey, they are deceptively big portions. Friendly staff.

I have visited this location twice now and both times have been fantastic! Their confections are absolutely delightful, so no matter what lovely delectable you choose just know it’s going to be good.
The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Niccole stood out as a great example because she was friendly, greeted me with a smile and was patient with me as I asked questions about the various chocolate goodies they make.
Overall a great place to stop and stuff my face with sweet, delicious, chocolaty goodness whenever I’m downtown. Can’t wait to visit again!

Danielle SO hooked up the most amazing RMCF chocolate covered strawberries… extremely last second… and the close of biz hours… unsure of my order. The chocolate here is like a taste of heaven. I’ll definitely have to hit this place up every time I’m in Seattle.
The caramel apples are so delicious. Juicy on the inside, and delicious chocolate and caramel on the outside. The apple pie ones tastes exactly like apple pie. I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Definitely going to need to try the fudge next time as well. It all looked so delicious.
Super friendly customer service as well, which was nice considering how busy they were.

This place has the best caramel apples! Yeah, they are a bit pricey… but they come in so many delicious varieties that it’s completely worth the splurge! I bought the Snickers Caramel Apple this evening. They can slice it up for you if you’d like. I opted to take it home and slice it later. So delicious! I can’t wait to try more

The candy apples looked good, however, in the creativity department it lacked compared to the stores in Vancouver that focus on making character inspired candy apples. The rest of the selection mimicked what you can get in Vancouver. I was having a craving for an Oreo caramel bomb the last time I was in Seattle. It tasted as good as I remembered it. Customer service was good. P. S. You have to ask for you apple to be cut for you as unlike Vancouver when they automatically offer it to you.

Very cute place! Lots of chocolate creations as well as other goodies to pick from.
I was literally overwhelmed when I came in cause of all the choices! Their fudge is so good and the caramel apples are a must try. And these apples aren’t your ordinary caramel apples– they have literally every possible combination and they change seasonally!
The prices are pricey but that’s to be expected at these tourist-​y types of shops.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate is a chain, but in the grand scheme of chains, this is one of the better ones. This particular location has a primo tourist location with plenty of windows that allow you to watch the ongoing candy production, as well as a small seating selection if you need to stop and have your out of town tourist friends rest a bit. While there is a good selection of truffles and other candies to choose from, my main draw when I come by have been the caramel apples. The apples are frikkin huge. Like, two fists together kind of huge. The upside to this is that the employee’s will cut them for you so you don’t unhinge your lower jaw trying to eat one. Last time I came in, I was being a spaz and didnt know what to try, but one of the employees, Danielle, recommended I try the oreo version of their caramel apple– I ate it in about three minutes, if that’s any indication of how good it was. When I’ve come in, I’m usually in and out pretty quickly even with a line, so that’s also a plus.
So, if you want a casual sugar tooth fulfillment stop downtown, this is your best spot.

I am never disappointed when coming here. Had the cherry bomb ice cream and the caramel peanut candy apple. Loved it. Although I wish the apple was a bit more crunchier.
The candy apple is good to share and the price is only $ 7.50. Really good snack not overly sweet. The best part is that this place has seats. So can basically relax after shopping at the pike place market.
By the way spend $ 15 and you get a free fudge.

This place smelled so good as my friend and I walked by, so we had to step in and grab a treat. Lauren was very attentive and helpful showing us the large assortment of chocolates, and she showed us the ones that are locally made! She told us that the rest of them are made and shipped from Colorado.
I got the super s’mores, it was so yummy! It was a little pricy, but for downtown Seattle right near pike place, it was doable!

I’ve been here a couple of times before but never bought something until this time. Well the review is quite simple… the variety is big, the authenticity is there, and the dollar signs are high, but it is expected of any specialty chocolate shop. I had the caramel marshmallow apple, asked that it be cut up, and that I get it to go so that my friend and I could sit outside to enjoy the waterfront view and fresh air. It was good, I don’t know if heavenly at $ 10.95 but it did satisfy my sweet tooth. I almost think I raved about the apple itself more and how crisp and sour it was (they use Granny Smith).
Staff was nice and trying their best but they were definitely busy.
Bottom line, try it at least once.

Yum! This place makes this foodie go crazy. Their cherry bombs are especially delicious! Everywhere I look there seems to be chocolate — covered anything! This shop is conveniently located in Pike place so that you can grab some chocolate –covered goodies and be on your merry way.
The reason I give this 4 stars and not 5 is because when I would go they did not have what I hoped for (like when I went to get another round of cherry bombs and they totally ran out) on top of that, the gentleman behind the counter could not tell me when they’d have more (and he didn’t seem to care either). They had run out of dark chocolate covered cherries, cherry bombs, and other dark chocolate covered confections. If they are so popular wouldn’t it make sense to make sure you have a back up and be stocked?
But anyhow this place is always a great little stop no matter what state you find yourself in. I recommend you try their cherry bombs. They are a bit pricy at about $ 2.43 each but you got to try them! Chocolaty goodness on the outside with a cherry and coconut filling in the inside.

Downtown right near Pikes Place Market is Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
When looking in the window they have at least 50 different kind of coated apples.
If nothing else very interesting.
I went in and got some dark chocolate covered marzipan and some dark chocolate orange peel.
Bother were delicious, But the pricing was a bit high $ 30.00 a pound.
Service was great and the staff super friendly.

The Giant teddy bear did it for me. No really, the large Giant T-​shirt clad bear that sat on their entrance way bench sold me.
After studying their counter selections, my friend and I were ready to order. I caught an Asian girl’s attention and she patiently put our candies together. I mentioned my surprise in seeing the bear’s fashion statement and she explained. We learned that she moved to the area several years ago from the Bay Area, but we know where her heart still belonged. I got my usual dark chocolate graham cracker and my friend her fill of sugarless chocolates. The conversation and transaction were smiles the entire time. How can this be less than a five star review.
And, hey girl, we did it Yes Yes Yes! Go Giants!

I know this isn’t the only one in the world but at this very moment, it’s the only thing my sweet tooth needs. We strolled in at 5:00 on a Sunday, hoping it was still open. They were and there was a very sweet guy behind the counter, ready to assist us.
With a check in, you get a very generous slice of fudge. Both of my girls zeroed in on apples — one an old school caramel apple soul and the other, a triple chocolate dog dare ya. I selected the death by chocolate and… oh. myyyy, I died and went to chocolate heaven. It’s a triple layer of perfectly creamy chocolate mousse, vanilla cream & chocolate ganache, all covered in dark chocolate. Oh CocoaRomeo, where art thou hast been all my life?

Chocolate in many different sizes, shapes, colors and flavors. With fruit, with nuts, or just plain. They do lots of it.
Is it good chocolate? Debatable. It’s not Godiva, but it’s still pretty decent. A nice little sweetness.
Two stars because this is the most confused shopping experience. Where do we wait in line? Who’s next? How does this crowd of folks in here get helped? Not conducive to a pleasant time. Oh, and our clerk charged us for the «large» nut cluster we wanted but only put the «small» one in the bag.
