Kaio is fantastic — the nicest, warmest, most talented colorist I’ve been to. Highly recommend this very professional salon for cut/​color and had a lovely, relaxing mini-​facial here as well.

Shane Chance is wonderful! I have been going to RL Salon for many years. Shane is the go-​to guy for a master cut, color, and style. A while back I was losing hair (medical issue) and Shane treated my scalp and my hair improved so much. What I like about Shane, besides his superb craftsmanship, is his keen 1:1 communication skills. He always made feel so pampered… which I greatly appreciated after a grueling week of work.

I called last minute & was able to get an appt within 45 mins from the time i called. Jenn was the hairstylist I had & she was absolutely fantastic! I had no idea what I wanted & she pointed me to the right direction. She was super friendly & made me feel SO comfortable! In the end, I got a haircut & style that I LOVED! THANK YOUUU SO MUCH!

I have been going to Kaio Wilker at Robert Leonard for almost 3 years. I used to be one of the «budget-​minded» people that considered getting a haircut was a chore… but no more. Kaio listens to what I want and consults me with his vision of what we can do. I really enjoy getting my hair done now, and the results are consistently superior to anything I’ve had in the past. You know you have good hair when everyone around you starts noticing it, and I feel really comfortable with the way my style has settled to become something modern, cool, and professional with Kaio’s help. The feedback is consistent with the people I’ve referred to him – both women and men – who then tell me amazing things about their results.
Salon itself is at an excellent location and the front desk staff is outstanding as well.

I have been going to see Tyler for over a year now and extremely happy with my hair color, he is just AH-​MAZING! He listens to me and is able to translate my waffling about what I want into a perfect result every time. I am planning to go a bit lighter in color as I’ve always been a brunette craving the limelight. So if you’re a brunette and want highlights Tyler is your guy. I always feel relaxed and pampered and enjoy my time with him which goes by way too fast.

I have been going to Robert Leonard for 9 years. I love it here! I recently started seeing Tyler for blowouts and he is amazing! I don’t normally write reviews, but finding someone that can get me in and out in an hour is unusual (I have a lot of hair). Tyler is awesome, also incredibly funny and stylish. What a great new addition to a place I like to call home (it’s not my home but I wish it was).
If I ever become a reality star I hope to hire Tyler to be my personal hair stylist. Watch out Robert Leonard for Real Housewives of Seattle I will steal Tyler! If you follow him on Facebook he lets you know when he has blowout specials.

I’ve been a devoted client here for 15 years, through many stages (and looks) in my life, I’ve had Becca by my side. Becca is truly an artist. She is incredibly talented, creative, FUN, she listens to me and produces exactly what I want in a cut or a color. Becca also cuts my 9 year old daughter’s hair, she’s biracial and has LOTS of beautiful tight curls. What I like best about RL (besides Becca) is the ambiance of the salon. It’s got a classy and upscale feel, but the the staff are friendly, hip, warm and welcoming. Go check it out!

Singing the praises of Cara! She’s colored my hair — both with balayage and hair painting. I had stopped coloring my hair for awhile because I was tired of frequent maintenance, but was feeling bored with my natural color. When I went to Cara she recommended balayage /​hair painting. I’ve been so happy every time I see her. I leave with a fun update to my hair, but because of the hair painting technique and Cara’s attention to detail I don’t have a drastic grow out line. Overall, I’m really happy with the salon as well. I feel pampered, relaxed, and un-​rushed. I like that it seems like a big focus on the salon to stay up to date with styles & techniques, so it’s a place I can trust. The only downside is parking, but since it’s downtown the bussing is easy — just sometimes I don’t want to take the bus on a rainy day when my hair is looking so fly ;)

I met Cara in my boutique when I just couldn’t stop obsessing over how beautiful her hair color was and about my horrifying previous experience at 7 salon.
She gave me her business card and I immediately made an appointment to find out that she was booked for the rest of the year but would contact me if something opening up. Nothing opened up but Cara was so kind to later contact me personally and offer two different days where she might be able to stay a bit later and squeeze me in! I was lucky enough to get her to color my hair before the end of the year and I was nothing but fully satisfied with my results!
I have natural chocolate brown hair with some damaged blonde ombré tips that were finally growing out. Cara did a beautiful caramel balayage based off of 3 different pictures I brought her as well as a cut and style. Everything from my color, cut, and style was on point. I’ll be seeing her again for a Brazilian blow out (her specialty) and can’t wait to see what else she can do for me in the future.
Also very nice staff, and beautiful atmosphere. I loved the décor and feel of the whole place. They are also conveniently located in the nice growing part of south lake union where i discovered a lot of cute new shops and restaurants opening up.

You guys, stop everything you’re doing and go see Ashley right now! She used to do my color in San Francisco and I am delighted to be in her presence again. Not only is she the sweetest, coolest lady, she turned my weird Rod Stewart haircut into an adorable mod bob and took my dark root orange ends situation and transformed it into a beautiful apricot! Go see her now!

OK, so I wanted a massage. This place was open, nearby, and had good reviews. On first glacé, it’s a really nice place. However, upon arriving, I was told my therapist was late and that they tried to call me but had my number wrong.
So I hung around the area til 9:30, then checked back. They led me to the «lounge» where I could change. They didn’t tell me what do do with my clothes, which I found out I could leave in the changing room or carry to the treatment room with me. As I continued to wait for my therapist, a woman was chatting away loudly on her phone. The space is oddly sterile in spite of the décor. Anders, my therapist, finally arrived (9:35) and led me to the treatment room, which was obviously an aesthetician’s room. High ceilings, tile floor, equipment… Not a cozy, welcoming massage room. After a minimal intake interview (and oddly, no paperwork at all), it was massage time. Throughout the session, I could hear the desk welcoming and leading people through: *clomp clomp clump* «And these are our treatment rooms» *clomp clump clomp*
The massage. If I wasn’t a massage therapist myself (as I told Anders), I would have been underwhelmed, but I’ll say I was downright disappointed. In my 90 minute session, I would say he did 20 minutes of good, solid work. Very little time was spent on my requested areas, and most of the rest was randomly attacking my body with some sort of loose-​first glides, just over and over. On one foot, he just pulled on it 25 times in a row. And that was that foot done. I have never been so bored during a massage, and that includes my time in massage school. Further, he never checked in on pressure or my overall comfort. There was no sense of continuity or making the massage feel whole. As soon as I was on the table, he had the sheet back and was «working.» Then when he unceremoniously completed the session (without head, neck, and face… WTF?) he asked me if I wanted water, thanked me for coming in, and that was the last I saw of him.
At least I can use it as a learning experience of how not to treat my clients.

Char did an AMAZING job coloring and highlighting my hair. As I was leaving, I had at least 2 people say, «Wow! Your hair looks amazing!» And I don’t think they were being nice. They really meant it.
She is running a special right now so call the salon and ask about it.
Char is warm, personable and went so above and beyond in helping me get the right match for my hair, explaining color to me. What I most appreciated is that she did everything — and I mean everything! — she could to help me. I had goofed in not ordering highlights. When her next client cancelled, she asked me if I had time. I told her yes, but I had a call at 1 pm. She made sure I had a quiet room, gave me a plug for my iPhone as it was about to run out of juice, provided a notepad and pen so I would have everything I needed for my meeting. And she asked the front desk to pick up my meal next door for lunch. That is service!!!

I think one of my favorite things about this place, besides Chardy, is that Robert, himself, is walking around offering water, sweeping up hair, and being so involved with his salon. I love it. It’s great to see an owner take pride in their business. Chardy did a great job on my color and blow out. She’s professional, fun, easy to talk to, and gave me a great experience. She went above and beyond. Next time I’m in Seattle I’ll definitely be back.

I have been going for 10 years now Shane is amazing he’s always on point. I just got 10 – 12 inches cut and wouldn’t trust anyone else! The salon is always clean, everyone is always helpful, and lots of product on hand.

Been going to Kaio for almost three years now, and my hair has never looked better! Kaio does amazing cuts and also has an incredible eye for color. He started his career in LA and brought a bit of that Hollywood Glam with him when he moved to Seattle. He’s one of the sweetest and most professional stylists I’ve ever met — a true artist. The salon may look understated from the outside, but it’s big, open and beautiful on the inside. Exclusive without being stuffy, Robert Leonard reminds me of top salons in LA, focused more on customer service and building the right clientele instead of growing at all costs. This is no Super Cuts, Rudy’s, or Gene Juarez pumping out clients with cookie-​cutter haircuts. Robert Leonard is the real deal, and so is Kaio!

The service at this salon is phenomenal. You first walk in and they treat you like royalty. Kaio was the stylist that cut my hair. His professionalism and personality made the experience that much better. I am always eerie when people work on my hair. As professional, I need to look the part, and Kaio’s ‘style’ looks to ‘cool’ for me, but he amazed me by giving me a great cut that fits my personality and style.

I walk by this salon every day to and from work and have been wanting to try a new salon for a while now since I was completely happy with my regular stylist. I’m a bleach and tone client who needed a stylist who could keep my color even and take me to a pale silver. I contact RL Salon and told them what I was looking for and they gave me a list of stylists that they believed could offer want I was looking for. On a whim I decided that I wanted to get my hair done that weekend before a company party and the only stylist available was Diny and I said «great!»
I sure did hit the stylist jackpot with Diny, he was wonderful!!!
Not only did my color come out exactly how I wanted it, after toning, cutting, and blow drying he still didn’t think it was exactly there and offered to tone me again, juggling me against another one of his clients in order to make my hair perfect. I really appreciated the honesty and him offering to tone it again that day rather than having to come back (even though the first tone looked good too!) Another wonderful thing about this process was how gentle the products he used were on my scalp. If you’ve ever had a bleach and tone you know there are some mixes that just uncomfortable on the scalp, they can tingle and burn and itch and it was my least favorite thing about my last stylists process — whatever she used made my scalp uncomfortable. I’m not sure what brand Diny used on my hair but it was a painless process and my scalp didn’t feel tender afterwards like can sometimes. My hair felt great too!!!
The only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star review is that it IS a little pricey. Definitely the most I have ever spent on my hair. Ever. BUT… you definitely get what you pay for because I’ve never been so happy with my hair color and cut. If you think about it, you’re wearing your hair every single day, it’s like investing in a really great handbag or pair of shoes. If you’re going to show it off every day you have to believe in the investment. And this stylist is 100% worth it.
My hair looks fantastic and regardless of the price, I will keep coming back to RL because I know I will walk out of there looking and feeling fabulous! Thank you Diny!

I was invited to come in and try the salon recently and I’m glad that I did, I tried a few salons up north and hated their work. I think I may have found a new salon home.
The salon itself is beautiful with gorgeous Asian influenced and locally based artwork all over the salon. My favorite things are the gorgeous woodwork partitions hanging on the walls and turned into stylist stations. The salon also has AMAZING products; Oribe, Rene Futerer and Moroccan Oil. If you have not tried Oribe, consider it.
My appointment was made with Chelsea and it ran a little late, I waited about 20 minutes for her to finish up. Once I was finally seated in the chair, we had a consultation. I’m a push over and really just wanted something different of the stylists choosing. I told her I wanted to keep my length but add lots of layers for body and movement. Before I knew it, she was mixing color and applying it to my roots. The goal was to match my roots to give me something that would grow out gracefully. After that, she tipped my ends and I went under the dryer to lift the color.
In the end, I had an ombré look that I really like. I wish I had a little more layering and more of the color had lifted, considering the extra wait I had initially, I would have been fine sitting there a little longer but hopefully we can remedy that on my next visit.
