Hello, my name is Aaron and I am the store manager for your Seattle Road Runner Sports! I have a deep passion for athletics and physical activity, whether it is through competitive team sports or individual goal-setting challenges.

Working in high-volume retail sales management since graduate school, I began to find myself in declining health and physical strength as a result of constant traveling, making poor nutritional decisions when eating out for nearly every meal, and not staying active. When I decided I had had enough of feeling lethargic and not liking the image I saw in pictures, I decided to get off the couch and do something about it! Going through my own weight loss and strength training journey, I also received my professional certification in both personal training as well as nutrition and wanted a career that I could incorporate that knowledge and passion with others. 2.5 Stars. Not quite A-ok, (even though I bought shoes) but better than 2. The staff was generally helpful, though there was one employee who was very demeaning about how many miles I had put on the current running shoes (almost 600), and that I wear cotton socks. I get it, I don’t outfit myself with all the proper equipment. I’m ok with that. She asserted that running shoes are only good for 150 – 200 miles MAX. Maybe if I got an employee discount, I wouldn’t bat an eye about spending $ 100+ on new running shoes every 6 weeks, but sadly that’s not the case. The rest of the staff were very friendly and cheerful and I was happy she wasn’t my sales person.
The Rundog assessment was awesome! I’ve run for 25+ years and never known that I had as high of an arch as I do. That said, the shoes I’ve always bought/used were comfortable and the assessment reaffirmed that the pair of shoes I was replacing was a solid fit for my style, gait, mileage, etc. The custom insoles are a bit pricey, but IF they last the 1,000+ miles they say, awesome; my first run in them was super comfortable… but maybe that’s the new shoe «zen» talking.
The VIP membership; meh. I like sales/deals/coupons as much as the next person. I prefer when I just get a fair price without spending money on a membership to save money on a product. Not sure if I’ll renew it.

My first time being in the newly-remodeled store. New organization looks fantastic, with prominent foot structure and run style equipment in the center of the store. Employees are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help you find the shoe that’s right for you AND your budget, not just get you into the newest, most expensive equipment. When they didn’t have my shoe in stock, they quickly offered to order it to me with free 2-day shipping. Great VIP and rewards program, too. I can’t wait to come back and get my next pair of shoes!

Warning: If you are Asian, you may treat badly.
There two women staff. (an elder one and a younger one.)
When we are looking for shoes, the elder staff said:” Are you just trying shoes, and don’t wanna buy shoes?” (I can’t remember all the words, but the meaning is correct.) (We just try 3~4 shoes.)
Even we buy shoes, their attitude are so bad. (But they treat American well)

Terrible service, overpriced, and poor community member: This store is full of staff that are not attentive to their customers, treat customers vastly differently based on their appearance, and do not represent the community spirit for which they advocate. They hold loud community events with microphones blaring while residents complain with no impact. Will boycott.

Very much a chain store and acts like one. I find the sales people to be very pushy, over confident and cocky. They take advantage of people who know little about running and try to sell them things that really don’t matter. I would go to Super Jock n Jill anytime over this store. Don’t waste your time and money.

First of all I have been going to Road Runner for shoes for years. Yes they are on the expensive side of things, but they usually have a knowledgeable staff, wide selection and I do think their custom-made insoles have helped my old back.
However today, I walked in around 1pm, noticed there were only 3 customers in the store roaming and 3 employees behind the counter. No one greeted once I walked in which I found strange especially since it was slow. I walked around for a bit looking and shoes and thought I might go find someone. I approached the sales counter where all 3 of the employees were still behind. One of the employees approached me at that point. Instead of him helping me, he put my name down on a sheet for the next person to be helped. I took notice that no one’s name was on it besides mine. He said the employee on the phone will be off in a minute and then she will help. I was surprised he couldn’t but I thought maybe he was new, so I continued to walk around. 3 – 4 minutes later she (employee) was still on the phone, in an obviously tense conversation and she hung up. Before this happened, I started walking toward the sales counter to hopefully be noticed and even stared at her a few times. Anyhow phone now down and she now gathered the other employees to have a conversation. I am still not recognizing at this point and no one else either has made an attempt to help me. I thought I would give her a second to have a quick conversation, but this it did not seem like it was going to be. Anyhow, I waited and stared for about another minute and I again went completely unnoticed. I walked back to the sales rack, hung up my socks, look again at the counter which I was in plain view of and walked out.
It definitely got my attention. I have been a customer of theirs for a while and this experience might make me changes where I buy my shoes and maybe save a bit of money too. Not impressed Road Runner, not at all.

Prefer this place to all others when getting fitted for walking shoes. They video your walk, access your needs and the customer service is great! I always get a 2^nd pair of inserts to save myself a trip.

I am disappointed in this store for 2 main reasons. (1) The Upsell and (2) Sneaky VIP membership auto renewal. Let me explain:…
I went into the store in May of 2012 to get a new pair of running shoes. Found a pair that I liked but felt that they rubbed a bit so got upsold to use the inserts/gel insoles which cost almost as much as the shoes. The shoes hurt my ankle and had to return them and got a new pair (only pay the difference, which was good — part of the VIP membership that I will come to later). The shoes still bothered my ankle and I felt unstable on them. I finally I pulled out the insoles and reinserted the factory insoles and loved the shoes. So the insoles were a clear upsell.
The upsell didn’t end at the insoles, I signed up for the VIP membership which I thought was for 1 year. I didn’t want to renew after my experience with the shoes and vowed never to go back. So I was surprised this year when I saw a RoadRunner charge on my credit card. Have been charging me membership for the last 3 years. I only caught it this year. They did undo the charge after I called them, but this is awfully sneaky.
My question is, if the business is confident in their shoes and service. Why use the upsell and the sneaky VIP membership auto-renewal. Pretty sure they are banking on users not noticing a $ 27 charge every year on their credit card to show profits.
This has left a bad taste and I WILL NEVER SHOP at Road Runner again. I urge you to reconsider as well.

This store is pretty spacious where you can find a great selection of sportswear and merchandise. I like buying my running shoes here because its staff helped me find the suitable footwear. They do this foot test to see how your run (where you foot lands) so they could find the shoe that will support your weight. I found out that I was a neutral footing.
I came here about a year ago so I don’t know whether things have changed but their parking lot was not accessible. I couldn’t find a spot so I had to search around Greenlake to find a spot to park. This was kind of a hassle.
Another small criticism that I had was that although their sales clerks are super helpful and nice, I felt a little pressured to buy the extra items that they were recommending: the special insole and other items. Aside from this, everything else was great.

Let me tell you a little something about these folks — they don’t give a damn what you look like.
Why is that a big deal? I’m on the chunky side, and yes, I am a runner. You would not BELIEVE the sneers and rude service I have received in other running stores, because obviously a fat girl can’t run and isn’t there to buy anything, right? Wrong.
I have NEVER been treated poorly or in a judgmental manner in this store. They are friendly and knowledgeable. They will listen to your concerns about gear and help you form an informed decision about what you want or need for your particular training or running habits.
Their shoe exchange policy is seriously the best thing ever. I got a new pair of shoes and wore them for a 15K, a 10K and 2 5Ks before pinpointing exactly what was causing my new blisters. I ran a loop around the lake in the pouring rain, ran straight to the store, told them what my concern was, and they took my sopping wet shoes right off my feet, gave me the pair I wanted to swap for, AND a pair of dry socks. You can’t beat that kind of service.
For those whining about their «upsell», it’s a retail store, i’s their job to sell you stuff. If you are afraid to say «no» to someone, take your mommy shopping with you. Yes, they want to sell you their insoles. Yes, the insoles are expensive. If you don’t want them, say no.
The gait analysis is FREE. It will help them point you to the right shoe, whether you buy insoles from them or not. If you don’t want them, just get the gait analysis and then ask them to show you shoes in whatever style they have recommended for your gait. It’s not that hard.
As for the VIP membership, of course they ask you every time. Just like every time you go in to Target they ask if you want a red card. The VIP membership IS worthwhile if you will need more gear than just shoes. If you only buy a pair of shoes per year, it’s not worth it for you.

I previously gave this store a bad review and honestly– probably will never go back. In response to my review I got a snarky reply from someone I thought was a manager, only to learn later that this person no longer works there. I was appalled at the lack of customer service skills this person was exerting and hoped that this was not a manager. I called the store and thankfully Trevor was kind and listened and explained the situation. Most of the time a bad experience can easily be redeemed by good customer service. I appreciated the time Trevor took on the phone with me and explained the confusion clearly.

I’ve had a really great experience at Road Runner. It was recommended to me by my trainer, and I’m glad I took her up on the recommendation! One of their shoe experts spent about 30 minutes with me looking over their products, making recommendations, and helping me try on shoes. In the end, I ended up with a shoe that fits me really well and supports my feet well during my interval training classes.
The store also carries men’s and women’s running apparel, accessories and some outerwear. The location is a block away from greenlake, which is great if you want to to try out your new kicks!

Up-selling is their specialty. Seriously, don’t get suckered in.
Went in with my bf who specifically wanted a pair of running shoes. We heard about their VIP program and thought about signing up. One of the ladies at the register called out to us and when we responded that we were just looking for shoes she immediately pointed us over to «Shoe dog» which is their ‘free gait analysis.’ She said that’s where everyone starts so we put down our names on the wait list. Took about 15 minutes before it was our turn. The ‘Shoe dog’ person was pretty informative and nice. The run down: Enter basic info into a computer (age, how much you run, etc). Then shoes and socks off. They measure each foot, then have you step on foam that conforms to your feet, then you run on a treadmill for a couple of minutes and they analyze your running form.
After everything is done, they give you a pair of their socks (apparently you can’t put your own socks back on) and they hand custom orthotics from Shoe Dog to someone from the sales side as they proceed to bring out several boxes of shoes. My bf was happy with the Asics and was ready to purchase them. The sales lady then said great, well the custom orthotics are usually $ 80, but they’re $ 71 today since you’re also buying the shoes. She then handed us a packet of $ 25 socks (the same socks they make you wear after Shoe Dog) because their socks are clearly superior to the ones you came in with. We politely said No to the orthotics because my bf only does light running and hasn’t had any physical complaints either. Then her face completely dropped. Her attitude changed and she seriously couldn’t hide how disappointed she was. When we also declined the socks that was probably too much for her to handle because she left and went to find another customer.
During checkout, we wanted to sign up for VIP to get a discount on the shoes but still didn’t know much about it Apparently the sales person was supposed to explain everything but was too disappointed in us to care at the end. Now we regret not only signing up, but our entire trip to that store from the beginning.
They say it’s a «free gait analysis» but the whole purpose is forcing you with $ 80 custom orthotics that you may or may not want. My bf was only looking for shoes and we both left with a feeling of shame and hatred from their sales people because we only spent $ 125 instead of $ 200 +
I’m a frequent half marathon runner and have bought multiple running shoes from different running stores and I would absolutely NOT recommend Road Runner. Super Jock ‘n Jill is right around the corner and they treat all their customers, whether you’re a heavy spender or not, equally and with respect.

I am incredibly torn about writing this review. On one hand, the salesperson who helped my mom was everything a business owner who wants the maximum dollars should want, on the other hand, I feel taken advantage of, and that’s hardly a good thing.
Here’s the story — a few of my friends have raved about Road Runner since my last time in, so I thought that when my mom (visiting from out of town) asked me where she could get some sneakers, I took her here because I wanted her to get a good fit, and have an option to return them at home should she have any issues.
Though I warned her that they might up-sell her, and to be clear that she didn’t wnt to spend a lot of money (she’s on a pension), by the time I returned to see how she was doing after about thirty minutes, I found they had fit her with $ 80 custom insoles into a $ 140 shoe that she was wearing with socks that come in a $ 25 pack. Mind you, they were comfortable to her, and might decrease her potential to injury, which is good, however, add to that the slide into the VIP sale (which I already planned on buying for myself), I felt that the up-selling was a bit out of control.
On one side, my mom’s happy with the shoes. On the other side, I ended up having to buy them for her to prevent possible embarrassment.
Though I have a VIP membership now, and have essentially saved 5% from that purchase (after you include the cost of membership, and the discount received on that purchase), I’m left with such a bitter taste in my mouth that I’m considering not buying anything from there again.
Businesses should make it happy and comfortable to part with your money. I like spending money on worthy things, but I kinda feel like they have no issue taking advantage of a little old lady.

My mom brought me here after she had picked up a race packet for me.
I was very impressed by this store, it was clean, tidy, full of helpful and knowledgable staff. I went in for shoelaces and left with running accessories and new custom insoles.
Sam helped me with my insoles and he was upbeat, knowledgable and all around awesome! He showed me how custom insoles were different than the ones you find in your shoes, why they would be important and beneficial to me (after all the little tests) and while talking about these things didn’t pressure me to buying them. The proof is in the run!!! Took my custom insoles on a little test run down the street and back (as instructed) and felt an instant difference. I have been running with my new insoles for a few days now and don’t have pain in my heels or my feet feeling tired and beaten up after my runs. THANKS SAM!!!

I went to Road Runner Sports in Greenlake because I wanted to buy some compression sleeves for my calves because I keep getting horrible shin splints every time I start up a running program. I’d been to Super Jock n Jill in the past to buy shoes, but I wanted to try this place out because they are bigger and have more stuff.
Parking is difficult, but that’s to be expected of any retailer around Greenlake that doesn’t have its own parking lot. It’s Greenlake! Go on a weekday if you can.
When I walked in, the store was laid out nicely. All the workers, and all the other customers, looked super fit and thin. Which, for me, is intimidating — I look like an out-of-shape construction worker. All the workers were busy, and it took me a little while of standing near the counter until I was accosted, but then the woman who helped me was more than happy to help. She looked at the three brands I had picked out and recommended one of them above the others. Then she measured me and found me the right size. I bought them, and was a little pressured to try their membership club or whatever it’s called, but declined. I’ll probably join it if I buy my next pair of running shoes there.
Anyway, I waited to write this review until I took the product out for a test run. (cep brand, if anyone is curious.) They fit perfectly and are comfortable, so I was definitely fitted for the right size. I’m happy with my purchase and would go back.

I started becoming their VIP since last Fall. It only cost me $ 1.99, I may not shop there much, but when I used the VIP discount, it gave me good deals. You can use the VIP benefit either online or in store. There are a broad selection of running products, shoes, socks, clothing, and many many accessories. Their online store also has good selection of products. In addition, the return policy is good.
Road Runner Sports hosts Adventure Run once a month. I went to my first one just last Thursday. It was very fun. They give you a map with several stops for raffling tickets. If you wear Adventure Run t-shirt which you can purchase from the store, you can double up your raffling tickets. There are all kinds of prize from all the sponsors, like coconut water, muscle milk, a big bag of fresh produce, free running shoes, gift cards, etc. In addition, they have after party for more raffling and more prize!
I’ve purchased my Adventure Run t-shirt and am ready to win something next month!
