Port & Anchor

In a city overrun by coffee shops, I try to support the little guys, but I also try to do it on a budget. I found this place because of their $ 5 for $ 10 Unilocal deal, and it was a very pleasant experience with a wonderful barista.
I wouldn’t normally try out a place that’s part of a church, because scary, but it’s removed enough to not be awkward. (I’ve also heard that not all churches are evil like they are in Texas. So, there’s that.) And it’s a really charming space. It’s got the TARDIS thing going for it — much bigger on the inside, with a large area that looks like it would be great for studying.
I just went with my partner to grab coffees to go walking with, but if I lived in the area, I’d definitely go back with my laptop. I loved all the wood, openness, and children’s paintings on the wall. There’s a lot of board games available as well, for adults as well as kids you need to distract.
The only thing I don’t like is the lack of food options. We grabbed a couple of biscottis, but I am a burrito/​breakfast sandwich needing kind of person. I don’t think they have a full kitchen though, so it’s understandable.
The service was fantastic, and I really appreciated how much care the barista/​manager took to ensure we liked our drinks. Definitely recommend stopping by for a coffee on-​the-​go, or anchoring yourself (harrr) with a laptop or some school work.

I had a great first time experience visiting Port & Anchor– I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. I was going to go for my usual– but the barista recommended their special, which was great. The interior is really cute and this would be a great place to work/​study. Good music playing, very bright and open– and right across from Woodland Park. I wish they were open earlier!
