This shop is quite the little flower neighborhood small business. I plainly love the selection, and what Laurie offers to her customers. She is knowledgeable, kind, cheerful, and always willing to talk to you about all things flowers.
The plan, was to get the girlfriend flowers, and of course the rose is a little overplayed, so she selected, twice now, beautiful, subtlety sweet flowers, that showed I cared on a more thoughtful level.
She always has the right flower; and because of her seasonal selection, therefore freshness is guaranteed. I never know what I am going to get, and honestly, flowers are things that you have to like, and she knows how to match the flower to the right person.
I’m no expert, but I’m approving of this great shop, and if you need flowers for any occasion, you would be best served to come visit, and spend time with Laurie.

I’d been eyeing this plane on the corner of Queen Anne Ave since I moved here last fall. Drive or ride by it every single day and always enjoy the cute window décor. Friday I finally went in and I’m so happy I did! I’ve been thinking about getting a plant for months and I finally did! Laurie is so sweet, is an expert!, and fixed me right up. The shop is adorable, lots of options, and I found the perfect plant for my place, got a perfectly fitting pot to put it in, and am beyond happy with my purchase! I left knowing how to take care of it and am crossing my fingers he stays alive! If not… I’ll go see Laurie for my next plant! It’s priced for Queen Anne but I also like shopping local so I was ok with what I paid.

We recently has some flowers delivered from Pistil and they are gorgeous. We did have a little problem with the original order– but Laurie stepped in and made things right (even after we told her not to worry about it).
Customer service is clearly the focus as Pistil– and it’s nice to have a local business who truly cares about how happy their customers are.
I would use Pistil again purely because I know that if the order falls short of expectations in any way– they will make it right in a second. Very impressive!

Called to get a valentine’s day arrangement of some sort. Informed I could only buy their set arrangements starting at $ 65 PLUS $ 10 deliver PLUS 9.5% tax. Asked if I could just have something made up I was brusquely informed not gonna happen. So much for getting what YOU want. Rather pathetic IMHO.

My mother ordered flowers from Pistil over the phone for my birthday. When they arrived I was surprised to see they were a little bigger than the size of my hand and in dark «funeral colors». I was not impressed at all. I feel we were ripped off to spend $ 100.00 on a tiny amount of flowers in the wrong colors. I could get twice the amount of flowers at a market for 12 – 20 dollars instead and they would be prettier, have better coloring and more volume. Save your money its a rip off. I am going to return them today and ask for a refund.

I walked in and asked for a bouquet for a funeral. I had a short timeline and was prepared to go elsewhere if it was too short of notice. Laurie arranged a gorgeous white bouquet for me in just a few short minutes. I love her shop; it is so tasteful and sweet. She is talented and her bouquets are gorgeous. Thank you!

Great little shop! Called last minute for some flowers to take to a house warming party. Love supporting small business and these guys have great flowers for a nice price. Tell them your budget and they will make something beautiful. Lots of dinner parties this summer so ill be stopping here more for hostess presents. Vase looks like ones I own from pottery barn. 5 stars.
Update… I’ve since used the online service to send flowers to friends around town and have also dropped my own vessels off for filling to enjoy in my own home. Such a talented owner!

Everything I have purchased for an event, for myself and for recuperating friends has caused people to stop, take notice and admire. So when a co-worker’s mother recently passed, I gave Laurie creative license to do what she does best.
I just received this email from our grieving co-​worker:
The flowers, which arrived yesterday when I arrived back in Seattle, are breathtaking – so unique and unlike any arrangement I’ve seen (I have been moving them from room to room in my house so I can see them where I eat, where I sleep, etc. You know I am a flower-​lover!)

As an event producer, I am always on the lookout for great vendor partners. Over the past couple of years, I had been frequenting Ballard Blossom, however I was in search of a change, something fresh and unique, and I found it with Laurie at Pistil Design! I knew from the images on her website that she produced beautiful product, but I was even more impressed when she took our ideas for 3 different high-​end client events, with 3 different themes and all within the timeframe of 2 weeks and presented us with the perfect enhancements for each production. Going into her store is also a fun experience. There’s always something I see that I must have in my home. Check out the new owl pillows. Stunning. Thank you Laurie! We will see you soon!

Well-​curated selection of flowers and great owners!

My friends sent me flowers yesterday for my birthday. The florist is a new place on Queen Anne, Pistil Design. The arrangement was so beautiful, the kind you wish for when you send or receive flowers! The guy who delivered them was charming and funny. I am so glad to have a new small business like this on Queen Anne, it is getting a little depressing up here with so many empty storefronts!

I don’t usually shop at flower boutiques because they are usually overpriced, stuffy and have flowers that are fit to only take to your grandmother. However, I decided to go into this one because it just opened across the street from my apartment building and looked very brightly lit inside and had some really beautiful flowers. It also has a modern look to it, with trendy flowers you don’t see at many places. I wanted to start off with something small and practical for my studio and found a cute plant. The owner of the store is very knowledgeable about the plants and flowers in her shop and had my concern of worrying that I would over/​under water the plant top of mind (great listener!). She also somehow knew what kind of style I liked and suggested a very modern-​looking stone-​like pot for the aloe vera plant. The prices are not outrageous and very reasonable (unlike many other flower shops). I know I will be a frequent customer!

Saw the 2 previous reviews so I ordered from them. Laurie explained that a dozen roses from here would be more elaborate than from most florists, and the price was similar, so I went for it. My wife received the flowers a few hours later and was extremely impressed, posted pictures on Facebook and said nice things about me!!! What more could I ask for? Oh, yeah, I think I’ll be OK in that department, too! =-}

Laurie from Pistil Design’s is AMAZING. The moment I saw one of her floral arrangements a friend got for her birthday I knew I wanted her to do the floral for my wedding. My husband and I are both pretty specific in our floral taste, we were doing long king’s table for our wedding of about 170 people at Sodo Park and wanted our flowers to compliment the evening. We got together with Laurie and talked through what we were envisioning for the arrangements.
We didn’t want anything that would look too placed and staged, instead we wanted something that would flow with the table and had a natural element. Laurie blew our mind with what she came up with! She had multiple pieces of clear lucite cut the length of the 3 rows of tables and ultimately built one of the most amazing floral installation’s I have ever seen the day of our wedding.
Everyone was talking about the flowers and how beautiful they were. It really was a piece of art!
Laurie just has an amazing eye, she is super kind and totally wants to produce what you envisioned. We LOVED her so much!

I’ve used pistil design a handful of times.
My mom and grandma, both master gardeners, were impressed with the depth and composition. Plus they thought I was the best son ever. Works every time.
