Nice people… But I’m sorry horrible food soup dumplings weren’t cooked all the way and the broth or something I’m the water just didn’t taste right

I was super excited to try Ping’s dumplings after they were featured on the Fungbro’s YouTube channel. The food isn’t bad but nothing really stood out. Dumplings We tried the pork, shrimp, and cabbage dumplings. You get 12 in a serving. The dumpling wasn’t bad but I do wish the dumpling skin was thicker and had some more chew to it, maybe it’s just personal preference. The dumplings are served with two dipping sauces, one featuring garlic and the other with ginger. Pot Stickers The pot stickers had a crispy bottom and they actually serve the potstickers upside down to show you the crust on them. I generally prefer potstickers that are fat and juicy and these were skinny potstickers that didn’t hold up to the crispy bottoms. Uncle noodle bowl The uncle noodle bowl is Ja Jiang mein. The menu promised handmade, hand cut noodles, and maybe the noodles were but they seemed like pretty standard dry Asian noodles you buy in a box. Disappointing as I love handmade noodles. We also tried the green scallion pancake and chicken hearts skewer. Both were ok but nothing to write home about. Overall, the food is ok but won’t satisfy your craving for dumplings. The best part might have been the auntie and uncle working there, they were smiley and you made you feel like you were a visitor in their house.

Horrible!!! My family and I ate here over the weekend since I heard it was comparable to Din Tai Fung. Boy was I wrong and it was the worst mistake. The dumplings taste horrible like an old dumpling that stayed out of the fridge overnight. The porridge was very bland and was thick unlike the rice porridge I have tried at other restaurants in china town. Just tasted gross. The people who rave about this place must not have a good taste buds and have not ever tasted real good dumplings. Stay away and just settle for dim sum up the street at Duk Li Dim Sum or get some real good dumpling at Din Tai Fung.

Place doesn’t look clean. Dumplings aren’t fresh. Prices on the menu aren’t current. Number of dumplings served doesn’t match the number shown on menu. Unfriendly service. Steer clear of this dump.

I chanced upon this typical little establishment in the heart of the international district. Donning the Asian mentality, I decided to give this place a go after witnessing a bunch of unfortunate people dining at Pings. After the meal, all I can say is that the dumplings were a disappointment. There was no taste in the dumplings and the meat was drowned in tasteless soup. Couple the steamed dumplings with some gyoza and that I assure you will put the nail in the coffin for you at Pings

My first one star rating. I can’t believe other people can compare this place to Din Tai Fung. I left this place so confused and disappointed. The service was terrible, the place was not clean and the food was really disappointing. Food: We ordered the soup dumplings, the chive and pork dumplings, the potstickers, the green onion pancakes, and the fried buns. Everything was very mediocre and the taste just wasn’t right for me. Service: Terrible. We came late afternoon around 4pm so there was no one else in the restaurant. The waitress was so unfriendly and just gave me horrible vibes throughout the whole meal. Everyone I was with felt this way too. The entire meal felt rushed and just uncomfortable. Cost: Do not come here just to save a couple of bucks, it is not worth it and you will be disappointed. I think they recently increased prices because it was not as cheap as others have stated. Cleanliness: Tea cups were dirty, napkins were dirty as well. The tea pot was really gross and the tea tasted sour. I will most definitely not be coming back.

Cheap edible dumplings — nothing gourmet but I ate all mine! I also enjoy Wendy’s hamburgers, so I’m not too picky.

Not many dumpling choices in Seattle from what I can tell. This doesn’t really compare to my local joint back in Vancouver(Long’s noodle house) but it was decent. The XLB wrappers were a bit thin and smaller than I’m used to, but inside was still tasty. Normal pork and chive dumplings were good value. Good prices make this a place I’d definitely come back to if I want some dumplings.

This place is a hole in the wall in International District. What a gem! The customer service is what you can expect from a smaller establishment. The waitress comes off a little rude and doesn’t have time for you but that’s pretty typical for the ID so I went in expecting the service to be similar. 4 — Stars because of affordability, flavor, and quickness. So affordable in fact, that we ordered 1 of EVERYTHING on the menu. Their pork dumplings are a fraction of the price and taste better than Din Tai Fung’s famous Juicy Pork Dumplings. Of course you don’t get the faux Taiwanese décor and touristy feel but that’s what I like about it. We walked in with a group of 5 and were seated immediately.

Before I start this review, I need to let the world know that I do not dislike Din Tai Fung. I am a huge fan and I love eating there. What really bothers me about the reviews for this place is that most Unilocalers are comparing apples to oranges. Ping’s is a hole in the wall where you’re in and out, whereas Din Tai Fung is a higher end establishment that is in an area of higher income. Another thing that bothers me is that most people don’t realize that recipes change depending on the origin of where the cook is from. Different people from different regions have different tastes. I understand that Din Tai Fung has set the standard for dumplings, but please do not let the bad reviews of Ping’s deter you away just because they claim that DTF is better. I enjoy the xiao long bao at Ping’s because the skin is a little bit thicker. I had one order of 10XLB and not even one of them broke. The soup on the inside had a hearty and salty taste. I found it to be perfect. There was a good amount of soup in each dumpling and they all came out steaming hot. I also had the pork, shrimp, and chives dumplings. They were extremely juicy. I wish I came with more people so I can stuff my face with a variety of dumplings. People might say that the service in this restaurant is not spectacular, but think about it, you are in the International District. I do not come here to be treated like royalty, but to try foods that are made with different recipes and love from each person.

Classic ID establishment – don’t let the crowded tables of white boise fool you: good food with a menu of undervalued/under-represented Chinese dishes. The meal begins with hot black-ginger tea and a long look at the white laminated menu. Organized under cold appetizers, dumplings, noodles, soups, turn it over – more dishes and lunch specials. If you frequent other Chinese restaurants nearby some dishes read familiar, but are executed in a distinct, this-is-how-our family does it way. Meaning – while you can get cabbage and pork dumplings or a canonized noodle dish at every Place around town, Pings cooking has developed a unique flavor profile for each item. The dumplings use a variety of traditional and new ingredients, green beans and lamb! Or Wood ear mushrooms, pork and tofu! Their cold appetizers are fantastic, even better in junction with a plate of dumplings or noodles. Order something unfamiliar and expand your Taste and knowledge of flavor, texture, and culture. I come here often to sample new menu specials and their lunch deals. Inexpensive, meal for two: less than $ 20 Tip 20%

These Are the dumplings you’ve been searching for. Once you get accustomed to sitting on old chairs at long wooden tables in a very(ahem) casual setting, one is easily hooked and becomes a repeat offender here after having a batch of Miss Ping’s hand and home-made dumplings($ 5⁄12) and steamed pork buns($ 8). Bring some buds out for a stroll around the ID and enjoy!

Ok yes, we all know Ping’s is dirt cheap. $ 5 for 12 regular pork and cabbage dumplings, $ 8 for 8 lamb soup dumplings, $ 1.50 each for a chicken heart skewer and a lamb skewer. I came in expecting to fulfill my craving for dumplings and I left needing to poop. The regular dumplings are a steal. I would come back for those, just good old pork and cabbage dumplings, please! Simple, good, easy. The lamb dumplings were incredibly gamey. I usually love lamb, but I was NOT a fan of these! The chicken heart skewer and lamb skewer made my stomach churn. I watched our server take them out of the microwave, eek. I shouldn’t have been so adventurous with my ordering, my mistake. I also tried the jajangmyeon here and I got a bowl of oodles of noodles with very little sauce. I most likely won’t be coming back here, unless I’m dying for dumplings and Ping’s is my only choice.

I’ve been here a few times, but only had the pork bun and green onion pancake. The dumplings are homemade but with several caveats. The wrappers seemed too thin and broke when I tried to pick them up spilling all the soup. Secondly, I wished they used parchment paper to steam the dumplings. I’m not sure if it was the napkin they place under the dumplings or the bamboo steamer, but the dumplings had a slightly unpleasant wood/paper taste. Plus the napkin stuck to the dumpling wrappers. This is a small shop attached to a grocery store. The definition of a hole in the wall. The woman and server speak little English, but are very kind and friendly. I want to like this place better. Hopefully they can make some improvements.

Reviewing just the pork bun. I got one at Dragon fest, and it was devastatingly bad. cold bun, which was too dense and thick for the amount of filling inside. The filling was off putting as well, even with some sauce. Ate half and threw the rest away. Gonna give them another try, but I’ll get dumplings instead.

As we wandered around in search for lunch, we came across Ping’s Dumpling House. It’s just a hole in the wall with a friendly gal manning the dining room. We created our appetizer plate with pig ears, pig tongue and tofu. Followed by lamb and chicken heart skewers, scallop xiao long bao and ja jiang mein. We liked the skewers best. The noodles were ok. We didn’t see or taste any scallops but the XLB were still good. We didn’t get the appetizer plate so we can’t comment on that one… they just forgot. It seemed odd that each of our items were brought out by a different person. Maybe whoever cooks it has to serve it? We receive empty cups along with our utensils but they were never filled. In the end, we decided it was alright but we’ll probably do more exploring next time we are in the area. Oh and they sell 20 types of frozen dumplings.

You have dive bars, why not have dive dumpling houses? That there is this place. The hub and some friends were in the International District for that lame Taco Libre event — um, yeah, lame because there were hardly any trucks that actually served tacos and it was way too cramped and crowded. We made a bee line for this place instead, a true hole in the wall, the kind of place where you hoped that the urge to pee would never ever strike. The place was full and when we finally sat, I made sure not to over visually scrutinize the place otherwise I’d make myself lose my appetite. There is a grocery store attached to the restaurant. After ordering, I mosied over there to see what they had. Well, that was gross and totally took the place of what I didn’t want to initially do at the table. I didn’t lost my appetite though. We ordered the xlb, a combo that include crab, pork, and lamb dumplings. Then we ordered some beef and onion ones as well as some potsitckers. The pork ones were the best but overall everything tasted quite doughy and a little bland. We were served hot tea and ordered some sodas on top of the tea. The service was sort of like being at family’s though. It was kind of funny. When we did order the drinks, I felt like they were going to bring them whenever they damn well pleased. It was a little amusing. The lady and an older gentleman who barely spoke English were unknowingly a comedy duo. Now, my dumpling benchmark is Nan Xiang Xiaolong Mantou. This is nowhere near that lol But it’s not too offensive on the cheap… just a little bit offensive.

The steamed pork and cabbage dumplings are incredibly good. You bite into it and they are juice and tender. This is my first experience with steamed Chinese dumplings, and I have every intention of coming back for more. They lady who helped us had a little attitude when we were asking questions, but the quality of the food is worth overlooking that. Definitely try the pork and cabbage. Although they can be a bit… fragrant.

Dumplings? On a budget? Looking to save some money? Ding ding ding ding!!! You’ve got a winner! Ping’s is the cutest little gem in chinatown/international district near the King station in Seattle. Definitely family owned, the English of the servers aren’t the best! Bare with them. They are elderly, so respect your elders! Although more old fashion, they do take credit cards ;) The place is also connected to a cute little store. Seats are wooden and reminds me of Asia kinda! They serve noodles, some rice plates, but hey. You read the name. You came here for the dumplings. So let’s jump into it. First of all, affordable is an understatement. You can get 10 dumplings for literally $ 5. Yes… A meal for $ 5. I got 20 cause I eat a lot and I spent about $ 12 after tip. However, I didn’t order correctly. I’m coming back for the STEAMED dumplings! Darnit. I got regular dumplings and it just didn’t taste as good as I thought. Welp, my mistake. Love the place, I’m coming back for steamed dumplings!
