I have been a patient for years & I always get a thorough & comprehensive examination and there are always small tweaks to my contact prescription. He takes his time and I never feel as if he’s rushing so he can get to the next patient.
Gaye, who is awesome, is at the front desk and is always extremely helpful and knowledgable. I appreciate that she understands my insurance coverage and immediately gets replacement lenses ordered so they arrive immediately. She is a true asset to his practice.

I’ve been coming to Dr. Adachi’s office for a few years now. He is great, very nice, approachable. He takes time during the appointment to go through the check up. I’ve had some optometrist speed through the whole process and makes you feel rushed. However Dr. Adachi is different, the appointment is relaxed and talks you through the whole thing, and answers any questions you may have. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to go to his practice.

I have been coming to Dr. Adachi for many years and have referred friends and colleagues to him whenever someone needs a recommendation. He takes the time to explain what he’s doing, what’s he looking for, his findings and how they affect your eye health. He has a great sense of humor and is very pleasant and personable. I really enjoy my visits to Dr. Adachi and I feel my eyes are in good hands! :-)

The person answering the phones prevented me from coming to Dr. Adachi. They interrupted me, spoke to me like I was child, and could not have sounded more bored. When i asked them to please speak to me a little more professionally they laughed. I am e-​mailing the doctor to let them know why I will not be coming to his practice.

Dr Adachi is careful and pleasant. And interesting. He takes his time which I very much appreciate. Tho I only see home once a year or so he always asks about our latest outdoor adventure. They also do a great job filling prescriptions that are more complex than single vision. I can tell the difference. Highly recommend this practice. I’ve been here for years now.

After a recent trip to my eye doctor (who will remain nameless) of 16 years went haywire, I decided it was time for a change. All I needed was an updated contact lens prescription before I moved out of the city and Dr. Adachi was able to fit me in just in time before I left (with 3 days notice.) He fitted me with new, more modern lenses and helped fine tune my prescription in a way that my previous doctor had never even mentioned. In short, Dr. Adachi’s awesome.
As an added bonus, I learned Dr. Adachi’s an avid cyclist. If you want someone to talk cycling with along with your eye health, this is the guy.

I have had more complex eye issue, due to eye disease. He has always been much more detailed and careful in working with me on my perscriptins to come up with the best solution now and for the long term. Very smart, proffessional and nice

I have been coming to Dr Adachi all my life, and have been a customer since his original office. He takes the time to talk to me and catch up with the annual news, and also takes the time to make sure there aren’t any other concerns or anything new with my eyesight.
Strongly recommend anyone to come here for some down to earth honest good service!

Comprehensive testing, and friendly service. I generally really dislike paying for a new eye exam every two years, as nothing much ever changes, but with Dr Adachi explaining each test as we went, I really felt it was worth the time and cost. I will go back in the future with much less pessimism.

Dr Adachi is the best — in a great location in downtown Seattle with efficient and friendly staff. If you do not have an eye doctor — give them a call.

Two things to cover. Dr. Adachi does great work, saw some things going on with my eyes that no one had noticed before, I can’t say enough about him as a doctor
He was fairly expensive and requires up front payment, then will reimburse you after the claims go through for insurance

I went to Dr. Adachi back in the day and returned as a patient just a couple years ago, after spending several years going to an unnamed creepster. Dr. A is super thorough and wont’ let you leave the place until you are totally satisfied. I happened to mention upon leaving that one eye seemed a little «glary-​hazy» and he had me get back in the chair, did some adjusting, and brought out a new lens. Will give you the real scoop with a bunch of analogies. My question: do you really have to rub the contact if the bottle says «No Rub»? His answer: uh, do you just squirt shampoo on the top of your head and expect your hair to be clean. Also tried to explain about the whole astigmatism thing, which made sense. Always confused about what my insurance pays and what it doesn’t, but Gaye, his receptionist has the info at the ready. Best part is that his office is upstairs from MOD Pizza…

I was looking forward to seeing Dr. Peter Adachi because of all the great reviews I had read on Unilocal.But then, while driving north on WA-​509, I get a phone call from one of his office managers, 15 minutes before my appointment mind you, telling me that they did not get authorization from my insurance company to come in. HUH? They said I could still come in to see Dr. Adachi, however, if records show that I am not insured because I have no authorization, etc., I would be stuck with the bill. Hmmm… ok. Why would I go if I were not authorized?
So I asked if I could cancel my appointment so that I could try to figure out all this mess and the lady said that I couldn’t and that it’s a $ 75 cancellation fee. WHAAAAT? Why would I go if I have no authorization, and risk having to pay out of pocket and then have to pay $ 75 to CANCEL? Absurd. What was confusing was a week prior, the office took my information and SSN to get the authorization before coming in. Why would they call me 15 minutes before my appointment to tell me this when they could’ve warned me about it last week, that way I could at least help figure out the mess with my insurance? Whomever I spoke with said that their computers were down and they couldn’t go online to get information. Hmmm, I think that’s why we have telephone numbers to call businesses about these kinds of stuff, right?
After calling my insurance company, and getting everything squared away, I called the office and spoke with a different lady (who was super sweet!) and told her what happened and that I was authorized after all (someone had called 10 minutes before I called and got the authorization from them). By then, it was 20 minutes past my appointment and because I was upset about how the situation played out, I decided to cancel my appointment. The sweet lady didn’t charge me for cancelling and gave me an option to reschedule as well, but I chose not to because I was not too impressed with the way the other person handled my situation.

I’ve been going to Dr. Adachi for years, and he is absolutely awesome. In fact I moved to Portland, and study in Chicago, and still drive up to see him every time I’m home rather than find a new one, because I like him that much. He’s very calm and relaxing, and always remembers who I am and a little bit about what I’m doing in my life (really impressive for a doctor I see maybe once a year!), making the visit completely stress-​free, and actually even a little bit enjoyable.
He responds well to problems, too — I told him my contacts are uncomfortable when I need to read all day (which didn’t bother me terribly, since they are for distance vision anyway), and he tried out a new brand that has revolutionized how I see the world, making it comfortable to wear my lenses all day long with any activity.
Also he mentioned once that he rides his bike to work everyday unless it is snowing and has for the last 20 years! Not important for vision concerns, but I always find that a plus.
I would say that the prices are a bit expensive for buying glasses or contacts from them, but not more than any other eye doctor, really. If you want a good deal on that stuff look online or costco (surprisingly good frame selection).

I haven’t actually been to see Dr. Adachi, but I have to give Olivia who answered the phone 5 stars. I am dealing with a new insurance plan and wasn’t sure how my coverage worked. I made the appointment and she called me back about an hour later to tell me that she had researched my insurance and it was going to cost me quite a bit out of pocket. She probably saved me $ 300!

Decent enough optometrist, but when I spoke about some pain in my eyes, he gave me no indication that the advice he was giving me was going to be considered medical advice and therefore was therefore going to be charged extra and not covered under insurance.
15 minutes with him cost me $ 160 out of pocket.
I would have expected better.

Last weekend, while kayaking, I lost my $ 300 bifocals. I know, I know… grrr.
Being new to the area, I had Dr. Adachi recommended to me by a good friend. Great people work there: the lady at the receptionist desk squeezed me in for an appointment right away; Olivia, especially, did her level best to get my order processed as quickly as possible (I’m a teacher and really need to be able to see!), and she knocked it out of the park. I was incredibly pleased by the attention and service I got from Dr. Adachi, a very personable and professional man, and from his terrific staff. I can almost hardly wait until I need to go in again, they were so good.

I had eye surgery when I was younger — serious eye problem. Not many doctors can diagnose my vision correctly. Dr. Adachi had no problem, and is so good at what he does, that I know I’m in good hands. He told me that we’re still on track, and when it comes time that glasses won’t work for me, he’ll get me on a list for a transplant. Even telling me that didn’t freak me out because I know he knows what he’s doing. He’s reassuring, always gets the prescription right, and is very thorough. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Five Starts for Dr. Adachi! I was not happy with my previous eye doctor, so I needed a new one. Well, I was putting it off like usual and then I lost a contact! UUUUURRRRGGHH!!! I wear hard lenses, so no backups for me! I started just calling everyone my insurance reccommended and seeing who could fit me in. Dr. Adachi was the lucky one with a cancellation! His staff was incredibly friendly (almost too much) and got me right in to see him. They pulled up all my insurance info and didn’t give me a hard time about the fact that I forgot to bring it and my old perscription.
Things I loved about Dr. Adachi:
* He told me WHY he was shining all those lights in my eyes. I never had anyone explain that before and he didn’t give too much information or sound pretensious when he did it.
* He got my new lenses to my in 2 days!!! Unbelieveable!
* Very friendly and helpful and gave me all the information I needed to get my vision back on track. He even set me up with a free soft lens so I could see for the next 2 days.
* No pressure to buy anything.
