History

Established in 1958.

Parnassus Café & Galley has been located in the basement of the Art Building on the University of Washington campus since the 1950’s. Originally selling coffee, cigarettes, and art supplies, Parnassus has turned into one of the most unique places on campus to grab a bite between classes. Completely student-run and independent from every other University café, Parnassus serves Fair Trade and Organic Certified coffee and teas from local roaster Tony’s, as well as other cold beverages and a variety of snack and lunch options. All proceeds from sales go directly to School of Art student scholarships. The café also operates an art gallery, providing a space for students to exhibit their work.
