Outer Planet Craft Brewing

Excellent brewery in Capitol Hill! The space is small and the beers were really good. I had The Bohemian which was a light beer, reminded me a bit of a Pilsner and was really good. I also sampled the experimental IPA. It was one of my favorites. It had strong Belgian flavored and wasn’t overly hoppy – a very drinkable IPA. I would definitely stop by here again!

Wow. We had an excellent experience here.
After dining next door at Culture Club Cheese Bar, we stopped by Outer Planet to share a small cheese pizza (I know… it was a lot of cheese in one evening) and taste a couple of beers. It happened to be trivia night, but we sat at the bar & chatted with the bartender instead. I think he may have been the owner? He was SO sweet. Very friendly, talkative, but not in an annoying way. I could have chatted with him for hours!
Outer Planet does not have a full kitchen, but they serve pre-​made (locally) small pizzas for $ 8.00 that are heated in a toaster oven. This was all we needed — the perfect snack for 2 people.
This brewery may be small and fairly new, but they serve up a great selection of craft brews. I asked for tastings of the IPA & saison, but our bartender recommended the pale ale. I’m so happy with that decision… it was delicious, right up my alley. I’ll be back for a tasting flight.

Ultimately lackluster – the French Saison had some weird funk inconsistent with the style, and our other beers were just alright.

Small brewery, decent beers, a bit of a unique twist on variety.
Overall pretty good. Nothing too special to say about it one way or another.

These guys have a nice selection of beers on tap… Sampler costs a bit more than some but tasting room is great place to sample some beers on a sunny afternoon.

Ronaldo is the best beertender in town. You can talk about craft brew or star wars. He is a sci fi fanatic. Its a small brewery and they only do 2 fermentations at a time. Don’t expect mixed drinks; its only micro brews. Its a no bs brewery. It was the best experience for my first night in Seattle.

This place is down to earth, friendly, and it provides great brews. Check it out! Give it a try!

Five stars for the beers, the Urantia Planetia in particular,
which is finished with a wild yeast.
One star off for the real lack of ambiance comfort and warmth.
There are no shades on the large westward facing windows, so you bake in the afternoon sun.
The brewer is top notch, but the place has no personality yet, because it’s too new. I would recommend: 1, Sun-​obscuring window shades. 2, Attractive wall decorations and 3, A good looking and personable young woman working behind the bar.
Those are my three suggestions to improve their space. Their beer is already great!

Bring your own food, or order a SoDo Pizza. Kids are welcome, and served free apple juice (parent permitting).

GREAT BEERS… Everything I sampled tasted like a quality finished product. Not a big IPA fan but the IPA was wonderful and the American Pale was one of my favorites along with the Brown. Nice clean taproom, Jim ROCKS and the beer is great. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent beer very welcoming environment! The brewer Jim is so talented. For three months old they are doing an outstanding job with drinkability. Topher in the tap room is friendly & helpful will definitely be back! Highly recommend especially for a social gathering.

They know beer! Phenomenal beers across the board, even for styles that aren’t usually my bag. I loved them all! Definitely a tendency towards malt and balanced hops over tear-​inducing hop bitterness. They have a tap lineup of 6 – 8, which is more than I expected for such a small and new microbrewery.
The staff is extremely friendly and very willing to talk to you about their beers, present and future. I had a fantastic time!
They don’t have food (beyond free pretzels which is awesome), but there is often a food truck outside which is very tasty (Taco Gol).
Handy big bike parking area out front, too!
If you are in Seattle and like beer, you simply MUST check out this brewery on Capitol Hill! I wish I could give it more stars!

My wife and I dropped in to sample the beer on a date night. The beer was great, with a friendly brewmaster presiding over it all. And they are generous with the sampling. The IPA was my favorite: a nice grapefruit hop flavor with a touch of crisp pine perfectly balanced with a medium malt. Finally, a quality Cap Hill brewery!

We walked by for a few months before they opened and were excited to try them for the first time this weekend. They were open on a rainy Sunday afternoon so we decided to swing by.
We got the flight and it every beer was on point. I loved the saison. They have pretzels to munch on as you drink your beers and are dog friendly. Super knowledgeable staff that is warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to bring friends back and see what they create next. Nice to have a local microbrewery on Capitol Hill.

This was my second time in Seattle, second time checking out the brewery scene. I was lucky enough to catch Outer Planet after they opened up. As I walked in I was kindly greeted by the bartender as she asked if I had been here before. When I said no I was immediately offered samples. There were 6 beers on tap (one guest beer). I tried the IPA, and loved it. Great hop taste without overpowering flavors. My next beer was the bohemian. Extremely drinkable, smooth, and tasty. If I was a local, I’d be here all the time.
I was lucky enough to catch Jim the brewer on site. He was very kind and informative. We talked all things beer. Next time I’m in town I’ll definitely stop by again!

I got to give the guys that work here major kudos! Some friends and I swung by here and thought the tap room was open according to Unilocal.The tap room changed their hours and were not open but they were there. They apologized for the inconsistencie in the hours posted and said that they would open at 4 pm. They also went on to say that the first round would be on them because of the discrepancy. I thought it went above and beyond regular customer service and I appreciated it. Sure enough we came in at 4 and they remembered their promise and the first round was on them. One beer was more than enough so we didn’t get anymore rounds but I did buy a t-​shirt so I wasn’t really there to get free beer. I sincerely liked the logo and wanted to buy a shirt so it wasn’t a sympathy purchase.
The beer was very good! Steve got their pilsner which was very good while I got the IPA on tap. That had plenty of bitterness and was everything I was looking for that Saturday afternoon!

A new brewery on the Hill. How exciting! I stopped by last week after work on Friday, and it was PACKED. The space is super tiny, and my girlfriend and I had to stand at the bar, sandwiched between the pretzels/​water station and a mom with her two small children.
We got a flight with all of the beers except for the Bohemian Ale. The quality ranged from pretty good to mediocre. The IPA was the highlight, and the saison was also tasty. The brown ale was decent. The ESB was boring, though admittedly I’m not a fan of the style (same reason we skipped the Bohemian). The barleywine tasted good, but it was very flat. We might have gotten the bottom of the keg, but who knows.
Overall, good first experience, and I’m confident the beer will improve in quality as they get better.

I don’t know how a previous reviewer could have said the oatmeal brown tasted like water. It tasted chocolaty, roasty, full bodied, full of flavor. That was my favorite one.
This is a cool little space they have, and a welcome addition to the neighborhood since it’s now the only public microbrewery in Capitol Hill not owned by AB Inbev. (how does Ballard have 10+ but we only have 1?)
We tried a taster flight of the 6 beers they had available Thursday. I was a fan of 3 and the other 3 not so much.
The Bohemian pils had too much diacetyl (buttery aroma /​taste), the ESB was a bit too bitter (more like an American pale with English malts) and the 13% barleywine was way too sweet and under-​aged (harsh alcohols). I think they rushed the barleywine — a strong barleywine like that takes 6 months to age at least, and needs to be fully fermented.
The sampler was $ 14 which I thought quite pricey for about 16oz of beer. At some other breweries that price would get you 12 samplers instead of 6.
The oatmeal brown however was their best, and the IPA was good too — they just need to cold condition longer or filter to clean it up a bit. I’ll probably be back in a few months to see how they’re doing.

Writing this review quickly as the 2^nd person in the door after they opened… and I’m still in the building. I will profess up front that I am primarily a wine and liquor person, but I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried.
To me the saison and IPA were highlights… and the staff and ambiance are beyond awesome! Welcome to the ‘Hill Outer Planet! Can’t wait to be back!
