I got kicked in the leg while playing soccer, harder than I had ever been kicked before. It was so painful, and even though it may not have been broken since I was (barely) walking a few steps on it, I was concerned whether clots might be a concern, especially as my calf doubled in size. Dr Watt was able to fit me in the same day, and the consult was pleasant, complete, and comforting. He took time to analyse the x-​rays, explain the findings, evaluate eventualities, and discuss various treatment options (including what I can do myself at home), all while being extremely personable. Thanks, Dr Watt!

One star is generous. After a skiing accident, a good friend had surgery at the Wallingford location. She ended up with a MSSA infection (not unlike MRSA and potentially life-​threatening). Long hospital stay, second surgery to clean out infection and on an IV for six weeks with another surgery looming. Staying infection-​free is not guaranteed in the future. She has a young son who was really impacted by her absence in the hospital.
To add insult to injury, some of the staff were arrogant, dismissive (didn’t see her for 3 days after she complained about signs of infection) and defensive, making her experience even more unpleasant and physically painful. Amazing comments like «you won the reverse lottery“‘and long term IV antibiotics «are just an inconvenience» were made.
Do your research before choosing a surgical clinic. Find a provider with true compassion; not a savvy place with a primary focus on profit. And ask about extra precautions for infection prevention that are taken at some other clinics and all hospitals– chlorhexidine wipes the day before etc…

Don’t waste your time going here!
All they keep on doing is giving me the run around, after over a week of being ignored, I decided to drive over to find out what the heck was going on.
They don’t follow through with anything, and don’t take your situation seriously. And the receptionist are all rude and snotty!!! FYI– your a receptionist, not that prestigious of a job ladies. Pretty sad it had to come to me posted a negative comment, but people need to know.
I will be notifying my doctor about the horrible experience I’ve received here also! Hopefully he won’t refer anymore of his patience here

Ok I’ve waited 10 months to leave a review and it is now time. Dr. Watt who I have seen at both locations is a pure magical Wizard when it comes to fixing knees. As a motorcycle road racer I have had two knee reconstructions and when it was time for number three no one wanted to touch it. Dr. Watt said we need to operate and clean that up. (I couldn’t walk before hand) He operated, helped me through rehab and I raced this season when they said it wouldn’t happen. I am back on my downhill mountain bike and have my life back because of Dr. Watt and his Ortho genius. I’d mention everyone in this clinic if I could. Prescriptions, wait time, everything is just professional. Can’t imagine going anywhere else again… Thanks Dr. Watt and Orthopedic Specialist of Seattle.

Benjamin Franklin once said to «forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.» And I wish I had taken his advice when I filled out Dr. Downer’s survey. Everything just came out like a waterfall. I wish I had just left it blank because it was really pointless. I’d rather forget. In a nutshell, I had hip arthroscopy in August and I recovered remarkably well – I should be elated that I’m doing so well but there were issues that weren’t resolved and now never will be. Minus the bedside manners and communication issues with my OS, I give OSS aka SOC a 4 star rating. It’s best to walk away with class than «forbear resenting injuries.» Aim for peaceful resolutions. I hope this will help other Unilocalers who land on this page.

Dr. Rhulman, hand specialist, performed a miracle in repairing botched hand injury repair done at Ballard Swedish Hospital ER. I’m eternally grateful.
The whole experience was outstanding. Everyone was truly professional but in addition happy and friendly. Dr. Peter ?, anesthesiologist, obviously loves his work. Everything, even down to the ingenious dressing, was top notch.

I did not have a good experience here. Dr. Franklin was the orthopedist on call when I came to the Ballard ER with a dislocated shoulder, torn rotator cuff, broken arm, and other injuries. He supervised the relocation of my shoulder remotely and scheduled me for surgery at the outpatient clinic later in the week, even though he never examined me in person. He later acknowledged that my injuries were much more extensive than he realized.
I arrived at 11:30 for my appointment & they were running behind and the surgery didn’t start until after 3:00. By that time I was nauseous and dizzy and dehydrated from lack of food & fluids. Then out the door because it was a Friday night & staff wanted to close up and go home.
Dr. Franklin had me wait six weeks to start physical therapy and the therapists I’ve seen since have said I could have started non-​weight bearing exercises earlier to avoid the build-​up of scar tissue. He also told me I could go back to work after four weeks, even though I only had the use of one arm and despite knowing I had a high-​pressure job that required me to be on the computer 75 — 80% of the time. When I mentioned during a follow-​up visit that I had started having panic attacks because I was in pain and exhausted and depleted from trying to keep up with my job, his answer was so dismissive & cavalier, I never went back again.
I had no prior experience with injury or trauma and relied on the judgment of the doctors to make good decisions. Outpatient surgery might be okay for minor injuries and elective procedures, but in the event of a future accident, I will insist on being admitted and having the work done in a hospital setting.

I have seen several doctors here. All of them have been amazing! I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my orthopedic care.
