This place is pricey. I can’t lie. But their food is good. The salad bar has got more ingredients that I could keep fresh at home if I made it on my own, and their split pea soup with their kickin’ chicken make a great combo. Yes, it’s punishment on my wallet for when I forget my lunch at home, but at least it’s good food that’s good for me :)

Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it, pretty expensive. The salad bar is $ 8/lb., which I’m pretty sure is more than the Asian-themed buffet downstairs, which features a lot of the same ingredients, sans«organic.» And they have hot foods. I also got the«turkey & avocado & bacon sandwich… for $ 9!» They were out of the normal bread, so I got a substitute, which was too chewy. They were out of one of the normal veggie toppings so I got salad lettuce. The turkey breast was a little dry and pretty«meh» on flavor. The avocado was good but it wasn’t chunks, just a spread. The service was great, but I can’t say it was worth $ 8.29 plus tax. If you’re obsessed with eating organic, this would be your place.

OOO, I am so happy to report that I noticed today that they are OUTOFBUSINESS! I, like the reviewer below, believe that these organic food nazis have put out of business a wonderful place(mel’s) and deserve their shuttered fate. Hurrah for all my fellow lunch’ers, who can see that an $ 8.50 organic sandwich does not replace a $ 5 inorganic one.

I ab-so-lute-ly looove salad bars. Whether a buffet set price or $ per pound, it’s fine. Broccoli, spinch, garbanzo beans, onions, fruit, walnuts, cauliflower, corn, balsamic, etc. etc. … la la la la… Paradise.

(going on strike!) BRINGBACKMELS. BRINGBACKMELS. BRINGBACKMELS. Disappointed that all good food places around downtown have joined the chain of «Organic To Go». Yes, organic food is healthy for you. I admit i do my grocery shopping at Trader Joes and PCC. I’ve been disappointed to have all the places I like taking lunch during the week have been acquired by Organic To Go. All who have favored MEL’s frenchfries will understand the Organic To Go fries just doesn’t cut it. MEL’s was a classic and now it’s destroyed with organic food and raised prices. Not everyone here will/can afford the new prices. With the new changes, I am more motivated to shop at Trader Joes and pack my organic lunches. I’m upset to admit this, but they lost my service and a whole bunch of other people I work with. We just had our experience and wish MELS was MELS. BUT i must stay… I am still glad to see the old staff from Mels working at this new place. They still provide wonderful services.

Too bad… I was looking forward to a new option for lunch near work. And I’m all for healthy food. But alas, it was a disappointment! I got a turkey & avocado & bacon sandwich… for $ 9! Too much bread, super dry turkey breast, completely unripe avocado, and the sandwich kept falling apart in my hands. If I’m going to step outside of the $ 6 fast food lunch price range, I want my socks knocked off! I probably won’t be going back…
