Obstetrix Medical Group

This is my second pregnancy, and my second scare during a pregnancy. With my first born son, the doctors thought that my son might have had down syndrome. They sent me to Obstetrix medical Group with Seattle Ultrasound. Being in the dark is very scary and the added stress is not good for a pregnancy. My radiologist technician Tara Tyler, was so patient, informative and gentle in this time. I have never forgotten her. Often, I would be in the medical bldg later and I would see her and remember he kind calming strength and professionalism.
Four years later, I am currently 7 months pregnant and the doctors thought my second son might have Heart valve problems. I had totally blocked out that I had been to this place before during my first pregnancy. It has been pure hell waiting for the ultrasound and trying to foresee the future. As soon, as Tara called my name and I looked her in the eye, I knew I was where I should be and in the right place. Often, people complain about the bad and never say the good. Today I would like to point out the great job that Tara Tyler does in her profession. She was very caring, she was re-​assuring and mostly sensitive to what this ultrasound would imply to my life and family. She took the time to explain why she might suddenly quit talking-​because she was thinking, not because there was something wrong. She explained why it might take a couple minutes for the radiologist to get back with the results. I was completely comfortable because of Tara going the extra mile and caring about my experience.
It is reassuring to know that if you have to go through these experiences that Tara understands the ramifications and is so very professional and caring. She alone made a very unbearable experience, bearable. Thank you Tara and keep up the good work!

The receptionists are horrible. It took me three calls and once I finally got a hold of a person it took me 45 minutes to schedule my first appointment.
When I arrived for my 8:45am appointment we waited 15 minutes for the ultrasound. Then I had to wait an additional hour for the doctor because they forgot about me. Needless to say I wasn’t happy.
I will say the nurses, technicians and doctors are nice but the office staff is rude and incompetent. In this economy I would think you could hire better people to represent the office!
The doctor referred me to another practice but said I had to stay on as a consult so I had to schedule other appointments. On my way out the scheduling woman didn’t give me eye contact and said that I had to leave the paper or wait awhile, so I left expecting a call. Well, that was TWO weeks ago!
I finally decided to call because they never did and the receptionist said they would call me back today because they had to find my paperwork. I have yet to get a call.
Do NOT waste your time with this group! The service is horrible and you will spend too much time trying just to schedule an appointment!

**UPDATE**
I’ve changed my rating from 4 star to 3 star for the most recent experience I had here. As I mention in my review below, I was referred here again for an ECV by my OB. An ECV is a way to manually flip a breech baby. Anyway, I was scheduled with Dr. David Gorenberg — only because he was the only dr available during the time I needed to be seen. Horrible experience. He lacked the tact and decency needed to deliver unsavory news (the news being that I could not have the ECV bc I had low amniotic fluid, and therefore would be a candidate for immediate c-​section delivery). He summed himself up quite clearly with his departing words to me, which were «I’m sorry for all of the drama, but I’m an OB. Drama is the name of the game.»
I am not sure about you, but for me — a woman who was carrying her first child in utero — drama is MOST CERTAINLY not the name of the game… for me — and I think for most mothers-​to-​be– the name of the game is compassionate and competent care. I really recommend that you avoid seeing this dr if at all possible.

I was referred here by my midwife for a Level 2 ultrasound and an amnioscentesis. During such a stressful time in my pregnancy, Obstetrix was an oasis of intelligent and able-​bodied professionals. While I didn’t enjoy my experience with the front desk help, I absolutely could not have asked for better Medical Care.
My amnio was with Dr. Josephine Amory, and I HIGHLY recommend her. She was caring and supportive, while remaining completely professional. I had 100% confidence in her skills, which goes a long way in the medical field, yes? :) She has a great bedside manner/​personality, and did a fantastic job both with the medical procedure, and how she handled me as a person.
I am going here again this week for an ECV, so I may add to this review at a later date. I wanted to write this review in case other mommas-​to-​be are thinking about coming here for any prenatal care. I highly recommend it, and if you decide to have an amnio performed, I would highly suggest you request Dr. Amory as your provider.
I didn’t give 5 stars because I always think there’s room for improvement :). In Obstetrix’s case, that room would be in the front desk. My impression is that the front desk help is overloaded/​has a lot going on, so for Obstetrix to get 5 stars, I’d recommend either expanding the number of workers behind the front desk. Otherwise, I think they are knowledgeable — just possibly over worked :).
